Aldin taps Black Cats shoulder and motions for them to circle the building, "Let's survey the entrances and remember, we are looking not taking."
He enjoys the relative simplicity of working with the Kenku. Although it has itchy fingers, the little one has major skills and he makes a great partner for the subtler tasks.
Black Cat, you notice there is only one entrance from the front three sides. As you go to report back to Aldin, you see a small rock of obsidian, clearly painted and carved with gold to spell out an intricate elaborate letter from a language you can't read. It appears as if it were dropped from a pocket. But it's so nice, it wouldn't make sense for it to be out in the open for a long period of time without being taken. Next to it, in fact, you see a foot-print. And despite the fact it isn't exactly your expertise, you can tell it is fresh--less than an hour old, even.

Aldin stays on overwatch as he watches Black Cat scout the perimeter. He watches for anyone passing or faint lights in the distance that could come their way. The hardest part about this place is the villagers will pretty much all see better in the dark then Aldin. That makes him be extra careful.
Aldin doesn't see any people actively walking, or lights. You do spot a tall grass-like plant that has part of it pushed down near the monastery entrance as if someone had walked on it recently. Both you and Black Cat seem to know it. Someone's been to the monastery recently, or might even still be there. And the worst part? You have no idea who it could be.

As the others are ordering drinks Smoke will get up and walk towards the bar of the establishment. He sits down at a barstool and starts chatting with the barkeep in hopes of breaking the ice.
Greetings, i would like to order an Ale for myself please. The names Smoke Treestrider.
He waits for his drink to be served. Looking around for a moment. We are monster hunters, yes thats what you could call us. Dangerous work indeed. But great stories though.
Smoke puts on a charming face as he makings himself comfortable in the seat.
A short while ago we were tasked to make a small town safe again after the villagers that went into the woods went missing. A large animal had taken them. Being a tracker myself I tracked it to its cave. Our group went in looking for the creature but not prepared for what we found.
He leans in towards the barkeep building suspension.
A massive bear, still chewing on its latest victim. The beast stood twice as big as any we had ever seen. Paws as big as my body!
Standing up from the seat Smoke now stretches his arms as wide as he can trying to display how big this bear was. Even his tail streching to one side.
Our arrows and bolts only made it angrier! Not being able to pierce its thick hide we knew we were in for a match. The mighty beast swiped us to the side and tossed us around the cave. It was starting to look dire.
Smoke's face now becoming serious and his hands and tail motioning along with every emotion on his face.
There he stood in the face of danger, toe to toe with the bear. Our very own monk dodging left and right holding off the bear. Our cleric vigorously healing those who needed it and bestowing gifts on us from his gods. We were wearing the beast down but it was not enough.
Mimicking swings of weapons and fist punches. He got to our lovely druid throwing her down to the ground ready to finish her off!
His face now fearfull as Smoke is talking faster now totally caught up in the moment again, his tail going left to right quickly.
We let loose some more arrows, enough to distract the beast. And.. then..
A smile comes to his face trying to keep himself from laughing. She bit him! .. She bit the bear! Can you believe it!
Smoke now unable to keep himself from chuckling. I dont know what she ate but the bear roared in pain as black acid like vaines streched out from the bitewound and the bear fell down and was defeated!
Can you believe it, a bear slain by a humans bite haha. he slaps one hand on the counter standing a little bend forward laughing at his own story.
Ohh good times, good times. .. He pauzes a moment But there is always room for new adventures.
He looks at the barkeep with a grin on his face. You dont happen to know anything in the area that we could help solve do you? Anything troubling around here?
Awaiting his answer hoping he convinced the barkeep to talk a bit on his own experiences.
The barkeep, a casually-dressed young pale elf with messy light brown hair that looks as if it hasn't been washed in weeks, and clothes that seem as if they've seen far better days. Pouring a drink for another customer, the barkeep then leans over the counter intently.
"Alright. Well, this town--this whole province, really--is filled with problems. And the issues are rooted in the seemingly broken political hierarchy. They hold such extreme prejudice against all who refuse to fit into their idea of perfection. I have one--actually, no, two--problems for you. It seems like you and your lot are experienced, and you can tell quite the tale. So riddle me this. Almost 30 years ago, Emperor Rhalin was crowned and invaded the town. He assured all of us that he didn't take that the 'exotics' would be returned safely after they served their time. Well, whether he actually put them in prison or sold them away like items at the Upper Eastern Auction Houses of Syrendahl, there would be news that some of them would be back by now. But none are. In fact, the Emperor's second-in-command heads a legion that comes into town every year to extract more exotics. So I don't buy it." the barkeep says, seeming a very intelligent boy, as that seems to be the only word to describe such a young elf. "It's not a local issue, bet everyone deserves to know where they all are. We have family and friends who are exotics. So, if at any time during your expeditions, you run by the capital, it's something to look for." Now, as the barkeep realizes he's droned on, he says, "Oh, sorry. I don't have a lot of people to talk to these days. Anyway, the second issue--there's been news of rebelling parties of exotics. 'Resisting arrest,' as the Emperor would put it. They're being wrongfully punished, for sure, but they've been running rampant--causing damage to Elven towns when many of us aren't responsible for what's happened to them. One of the rebelling groups just raided one of the nearest towns, only ten or twenty miles away, and I fear...well, I think they're coming here next."

Perhaps you’ve heard of our most famous member, the legendary warrior Vendyia. I’m actually searching for news of what became of him(her?) as well as the staff carried in battle. Perhaps you’ve heard of it? Or perhaps any other relics in the area, they may be in the same place.”
Two of the elves seem surprised, and the third does not, smiling in a friendly way as he says, "Nice to meet you, I'm Daeryn. Thanks for the drinks earlier. And I've read about him in stories, yes, but I have no clue where his staff is. I'd be surprised if anyone did."
The elf sitting on the right of Daeryn says, with no emotion, "What's your business in this town?"

"I'm Lord Devlin, and this here"--the elf says, pointing to the elf on the left of Daeryn--"is Sir Maledin. We're escorting the Prime Upper Western Ambassador," As he says this, he looks at Daeryn, "to the capital, so he can file a report of the political and ethical progression of this side of the continent. Apparently, according to the peace treaty, each side is directly entitled to being in possession of very specific confidential political information."
Lord Devlin is an extremely pale High Elf with immaculately brushed brown hair. With extremely expensive-looking garments and shiny brown eyes, as well as a bitter tone that seems to match the dark color schemes of his wardrobe.
Daeryn appears to be a human with golden blond curly hair. His nice bright clothes represent his joyful perkiness well. Daeryn seems far happier than either of whom he is traveling with.
Sir Maledin is an older human, slight wrinkles evident on his face. Perhaps once a handsome man, Sir Maledin now has a scar that drapes down across his left eye, and his salt-and-pepper messy hair bounces down carelessly onto his forehead. His dark blue robes and special badge indicate to you, Jorel, that he is an Eastern army veteran.
Jorel will nod politely to Devlin, and give a slight bow to Maledin, “I had no idea we’d encounter such important folk! As I said, I’m looking for news of Vendyia and his staff, one of my friends mentioned hearing about some monument to a wizard here in town, so I figured ‘maybe its fate, I should check it out’. But I believe its always smart to ask locals about the area first, I thought maybe that was you, but it seems I was wrong. Pleasure to meet you all anyway.” And he’ll offer his hand to each in turn, if they don’t shake, he’ll hold it there for a good while before moving to the next.

Lord Devlin will refuse to shake Jorel's hand. "Stupid is what he was. He did a lot of things, but none of them makes him a hero."
