Kastor manages to shoot the priest once more but his spirit fails to hit his mark. Both Sylvester and Brozz find the link of chains hard to pierce through as their attacks were repelled. The priest looks frustrated as he takes a step back, "You were better than I expected...but I'm no fool, I know when I'm beat. So I shall be taking my leave, to finish the ritual somewhere else." With that, the priest's form dissipates before Sylvester and Brozz. Only to reappear on the side the room. He raises his hand against the stone wall and the wall shakes and moves before him, revealing a hidden passage. The priest runs into the passage.
(The priest is trying to escape. He used a teleport spell and his full movement his turn. Both Sylvester and Brozz will need to move about 75 feet to go into melee with him.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kastor will fire a Fire Bolt at the priest, then command the Wildfire Spirit to move between Sylvester and Brozznan (so within 5 ft of each) and use its Fiery Teleportation action to teleport itself and them each 30ft after the priest (so they should be able to at least get into melee for Opportunity Attack next round, or rogues dashing should get close enough and still have an action left, I think? Never played a rogue! lol)
Even as the priest tries to make his escape, Kastor's aim is still as deadly. His bolt of flames dart down the passage way and collides with something then something larger hitting the floor in the dark passage. As Kastor's spirit teleports Sylvester and Brozz near the secret passage, they can see further down the fallen form of the priest.
Kastor follows behind Sylvester, taking the time to move quietly - not because he necessarily expects to come across any further enemies, but because Sylvester in front of him is also taking the time to check for traps and such.
Further along the passage, it opens up to show a modest private chamber. While there is a fine layer of dust over everything, mostly everything is intact. Including a chest in front of the bed.
Inside the chest, Sylvester finds a potion of healing. It shimmers slightly as it is shaken. Brozz takes the the priest's weapon, a staff with a blade upon the bottom part. An odd ornament is affixed upon the top of it.
Kastor searches the rest of the room for anything else of interest (Investigation: 18), then returns back in the direction of the mage they tied up earlier.
(Actually roll a d100 for treasure, The room is for loot.)
Kastor returns to where the mage was. Only to find the mage had managed to escape his bonds. It seems like he used one of the tools from the table to cut at the rope. But upon going to the entrance of the room, they find Nicola, hanging over the escaped mage. She tells that she managed to subdue the mage.
Kastor finds a magic scroll for the spell, Goodberry
The examination of the staff shows that it is attuned to the magic of Necromancy.
(For identifying magic items, it will need the spell Identify to show what the traits are. Doing Arcana or Investigation will show you what kind of magic is linked to the item.)
Kastor thanks Nicola for apprehending the fleeing mage. "We should take this one back with us. I'm not sure what kind of justice there will be in store for him, but he should be forced to face it."
Turning to the mage, Kastor says, "What were you trying to achieve in that ritual? Clearly your colleagues were attempting to summon something, or someone. We put a stop to it, and they're dead. You'll have to answer these questions eventually. Why not tell us now?"
The mage gives a laugh, "Summon? You all don't even know what temple you've entered do you? Why would followers of the Blood ever try to summon anything. We honor no Host nor Six, and believe in our own divinity. And what my mentor was trying to achieve is now forever lost, thanks to you all." The mage gives a defiant scowl as Brozz tighten bonds onto him once more.
"You're trying to tell us that in all of this, your intentions were good and honourable, achieving things for the good of the world, and that we are the ones responsible for depriving the world of what you would have achieved? Despite the fact that you were the ones letting undead loose on the local population? You're going to have to explain further than that."
"Good of the world? What good is there if ignorant delvers such as yourselves murder men of faith. This was for a pilgrimage, to see my mentor abscond his life to guide others on our path. So no, I do not see where you all think you are righteous, but why would you all care. Every one thinks that the Blood of Vol is some sort of evil or plague and I bet you all are no different."
