Thanks to being particulary adept in the woods, you are able to hunt down a rabbit and two larger than average squirrels, like the size of a cat. You also found some edible mushrooms and wild onions. There was a creek that ran along the bottom of the hill you all stopped at the top of, so you can refill waterskins there if need be.

Catherine will also seek to assist in foraging, hunting, and building fire/shelter.

In response to the fireside talk:
"Far from home? No, I have finally come home," Catherine says. "I came to this place seeking my birthright, and that of my clan and people. My line inhabited this land, centuries ago, before it fell to ruin. Long have we waited for this opportunity."
She retrieves her battleaxe and turns it to one side, holding it at an angle so that the firelight illuminates the blade. Carved into the haft is the image of an open gateway with a simple cross resting above it.
"This symbol, the Crossgate, was once the landmark that stood watch over my family's home here. The name of the town itself is long forgotten, but when they fled Ror'nav, my ancestors took up the Crossgate as their crest, in remembrance of what was lost. I hope one day to lay eyes upon it and stake a claim beneath it. If the gods are merciful, it still stands somewhere on this island."
After hearing Arlo’s response, Sieghart looks at him, skeptical. "Really? You’re not looking for more?" (OoC: If player and DM allows, I’d like to make an Insight check to see if he’s withholding information)
He then turns to Catherine and inspects the symbol carved in her axe. (OoC: I’d also like to see if Sieghart is familiar with the Crossgate)
Finally, he turns to Happy. "Lost? What is it that you’ve lost, if it’s not to personal."
(Insight check on Arlo is completely fine. You can make a history check, but since you are not proficient in it the DC will be increased.
I guess that is a house rule of mine. Most of the skill checks are for everyone, some times I'll call for skill checks and only allow players proficient in the skill. If someone really wants to roll for a skill they are not proficient when I call it as such the DC increases, because that is not something your character took the time in their life to perfect.
In your case Sieghart, I'm bumping up the DC because the general populace knows that there was a civilization here and that's about it. You'll be seeing if you ever stumbled across some sort of information regarding a specific land mark of an ancient town. You can equate this to knowledge of the Roman Empire. Everyone knows what it was and where they were, but you'd have to either stumdle across the information or devote part of your life to study its individual towns)
Catherine looks to Happy with empathy, sensing a kindred spirit. Her eyes soften for a moment from their usual fierce glare as she places a reassuring hand on his shoulder.
"Few who have purpose elsewhere would come to this land," she says, turning to Sieghart. "What of you? What do you seek in this place?"
You can tell that Arlo is definitely holding back. He's intentially trying to keep his intentions vague and mask it with nonchalance. Beyond the flicker of the fire light, deep in his eys, you can tell that he is holding back something he'd rather not bring up in the company of strangers. It falls somewhere in the spectrum of regret, pain, embarresment, or atonement, although you are unsure which you see.
History:
You've seen that symbol once while studying military tactics in your fathers library. You remember the two factions were the Imperial forces of Sul'dal (the last civilization on Ror'nav was the center of a globe spanning empire, called Sul'dal Empire) and soldiers from a town called Cape Maroque. The Sul,dalian Empire were the victors. What you don't remember was its location on Ror'nav. You recall that it is by the sea, as there was a graphical depiction of a amphibious invasion of the town in the book you read. The viewpoint of the picture was looking out from a forest clearing overlooking a town. Small boats transporting soldiers were assailing the shores in no perceivable formation. Waves of arrows shot out into the sea, raining death on the invaders. The town was encircled by a wall and the entrance was an open arched gateway that faced the forest. At the peak of the arch was a through hole in the shape of a cross, the arm lengths were uniform. There were also two impossing towers on either side of the gate, but Catherine's axe has a simple depiction of the "Crossgate" without the towers.

Sieghart decides not to question Arlo and Happy any further, as he doesn't want to upset his newly met companions.
He turns to Catherine and with a half-smile says: ''Well, it's nothing grand like reclaiming your lost legacy. I wanted to help people. Always felt like it was my calling. When the Empire announced its plan to resettle this land, I couldn't turn down this offer. I came here because I thought I could help make a difference.''
He then looks at the axe with a curious look, which gradually turns into a look of recognition. ''This symbol. I've seen it somewhere before. I don't have all the detail, only something I read about years ago.''
Catherine's eyes glint at Sieghart's recognition. It isn't very often that people recognize her clan's symbol.... though the man might merely have it mistaken for something else.
"And what have you read? I know not of history books about us, though I admit, I never took well to such stuffy old things."
‘‘Well, from what I recall, there was battle on this continent. A rebellious faction attempted to invade a sea-side town located here in Ror’nav. I don’t remember where it is or what it’s called, but I distinctly remember that there was this arched gateway at the entrance. And atop this gateway stood a cross-shaped structure, much like the symbol on your axe. Only there were also two massive towers on either side of the gateway.’’
Sieghart sighs. ‘‘I know it isn’t much, I’m sorry. I wish I could tell you more.’’
"Mmm," Catherine nods, gazing into the fire. "We have many legends of great battles, but I do not recall this one. Thank you. Some day, when I am free to walk this land, I will circle its coast."
She takes to polishing her axe as the night wears on, keeping her hands busy until she feels sleep approaching.
Arlo mumbles “oh you know... new places. Land of opportunity. All that.”

As everyone talks Happy seems restrained. He then says:
”I left home because I lost...” he makes a pause and breathes in. “...something important. And I’m here to find something else.”
He stares blankly in the fire.

Arlo (I don’t see any issue with an insight check).
”Isn’t it enough? What drove anyone to come here? We can’t all be lost and forgotten.” Arlo says this with a small glance at Catherine and Happy.

After his meal and some talking Happy rolls over to sleep.
Sieghart soon follows up on Happy and goes to sleep.
