(OOC..going to be busy all day, so I'll post also my first turn before Belwar)
Griming is rushing front of the Octopus and attack it with his sword and his second hand. Sword: 24 ; damage 5....EDIT : critic !! Add 2 Left Hand: 5 ; damage 3
(EDIT: Sorry i added another dice due to the critic !!!)
Grimnir wastes no time, rushing up to to the octopus, and slashes into it hard with his short sword (OOC: Nice Crit! Octopus takes 7 damage. 40/52) The dwarf then tries to follow up with a jab from his off hand, but is unable to break through the stony exterior of the creature.
(OOC On dice rolls, it's better to just re-roll than edit a previous roll, so as not to get that message. If you were to edit your post now, to the original dice roll text when you first hit submit, it would take the message away I think. No worries for now, just for future reference.)
Derendil, startled by the sudden appearance of the creature, reacts violently, surprising you. He unleashes an attack on the octopus with his claws: (Multiattack Claw 1: 19 Slashing Damage: 4 Claw 2: 23 Slashing Damage: 7 ) He rips into the octopus, bits of stone being torn from its body with Derendil's massive claws. (Octopus takes 11 damage, 29/52)
Stool runs away, hiding behind Eldeth who holds up her shield, readying to attack the creature if it comes nearer to her. Sarith casts Faerie Fire on the Octopus. (DC 13 Dex Saving Throw: 19) Unfortunately the spell doesn't seem to take effect, and the Octopus continues its slow advance on the party.
Valrish jumps towards the octopus in an attempt to hit it with his shortsword.
Hit: 7 Damage (slashing): 5
"Oi, lookout!" Jimjar yells at Valrish as the Octopus just barely dodges the dragonborn's sword swing. Jimjar then takes two quick dagger strikes at the creature as it moves away from him. (Dagger 1: 6 Slashing Damage: 7 Dagger 2: 16 Slashing Damage: 4 ) (The octopus takes 13 damage, 16/52)
Sensing it is outnumbered, the creature makes a straight shot for the exit of the cave it was residing in, it snakes out a tentacles towards the hulking Quaggoth, trying to fend off the claws. (Tentacle attack: 8 Bludgeoning damage: 10 ) Drendil is smacked with a tentacle, which wraps around him. He is restrained.
Shuushar continues to medidate. Bupiddo backs up further from the octopus, still brandishing his dagger. His attention appears to be elsewhere.
You all leap into the fray, trying to finish off the creature before it can crush Derendil. Belwar casts a spell that covers it in frost, as Oorr sinks another crossbow bolt into its rocky flesh. Then coming up from behind, Grimnir finishes it off with a mighty strike of his sword. The octopus' tentacle falls limp, allowing Derendil to break free.
(OOC Rock Octopus is defeated)
Grimnir, you look at Bupiddo and see that his focus was on Stool the entire fight. The derro quickly puts away his dagger as the battle ends. He mumbles some thanks to the group, and then returns to where he was settling in for the night.
Everyone else begins to settle in too, but a little bit more wary. You see Eldeth using her sword to poke at various rock formations, just in case.
You all take a long rest.
The next day, you forage for more food and water (roll survival checks), before heading back into the Underdark.
Around mid day (as far as you can tell in this dark place), you reach the end of the path you are following. The cave you are in opens up into a massive room. To the left and right you cannot see the end of the tunnel, and it stretches up and away from you across a vast chasm. Criss-crossing this chasm is a series of spider webs, thick and long, stretching as far as the eye can see. You cannot seem to find the bottom of the cavern, so it appears to be a dead end, but then you seem something ahead, on the web itself. "This... is unexpected," sighs Shuushar.
Two creatures are approaching you on the webs. As they get closer you see they are goblins, and they appear to be sliding along the web strands, almost as if they are skating, coming right toward you. When they get closer the shorter of the two does a leap, then tumbles to the ground and pops up on to his feet in a display of acrobatic prowess. The taller Goblin simply comes the end of the spider web and hops off, as if it were like walking.
"Hey Spiderbait, get over here!" the shorter goblin says, "Looks like we got some newbies. Don't see many of them on The Silken Path, or... at least not so many at once." "Yes, well, there are quite a few of them, aren't there, Yuk Yuk?" says the taller goblin, "They won't make it any further. Not without a little help." "Then it's a good thing we're here!" The shorter goblin then turns, and gives a grand bow to all of you. "Welcome friends, have we got a deal for you. Only 2 gold a day, and ol' Spiderbait and I will give you a guided tour up and over The Silken Path to a locale of your choosing. Provide that locale is up and over the path." Yuk Yuk grins, and indicates the array of webs behind him that stretches out into the darkness.

I now keep an eye out for Buppido and share my feeling about him and my fear for Stool to Eldeth.
Grimnir salutes the 2 goblins, but not too friendly as Goblins and dwarfs have a long history. "What exactly is the The Silken Path ?", "We are heading towards the Darklake, how far is it ? We are in a bit of a rush..."
"Well, even if the Darklake is on the Path, I don't think we have much gold..." Valrish says. Suddenly, an obvious idea passes his mind. "Would these suffice for the trip?" He says, showing a couple of the jewels he grabbed earlier.

Spiderbait addresses Grimnir, “This is the path,” and he gestures to the spider webs. “There is no other way to cross the cavern except across these silk strands. My associate and I are quite the experts when it comes to traversing the path, so it would be in your best interest to hire us. We can get you to the darklake. It’s not far, if you know the way.”He turns and smiles at Yuk Yuk, who grins from ear to ear.
Oorr is curious. Never thought the Underdark had something so...peculiar:" who or what did this?"
Survival 22
“Spiders, many different varieties of them. The Underdark is rife with spiders, and they created this network of webs traveling from one side of the cavern to the other. Best to avoid them if possible, but we’ve killed our fair share. We’ve been doing this for a while,” Spiderbait answers.

“Not enough gold, eh? Let me see these gems…” Yuk Yuk steps up to Valrish to inspect the gems. ‘Whoah, whoah, whoah, what are you trying to sell me here? These may be pretty, but I ain’t takin’ no drow jewelry. Often as not that stuff is cursed. I suggest you throw it in the crevasse, or just stay the hell away from me.” Yuk Yuk backs away from Valrish, putting some distance between them. “Look, you ain’t got any gold, fine, there’s plenty out there in the path that people left behind who didn’t care to use our services… if you catch my drift. How about you let Spiderbait and me take 50 percent of whatever we find on the way to the darklake, and we’ll call it a deal.”
Some of the other members of your party begin to murmur. Stool looks up at Eldeth and Grimnir, “Are we home, yet?” Jimjar speaks up, “I’ll wager those drow are closer to us now. If we don’t get going, we’re in for another fight.”
(OOC Rather than draw out the foraging stuff, I'll just periodically ask for survival checks to gauge how often you have to stop for food and water. That will determine things like how fast you can go, how long, and if anyone is following you, if they catch up. Good rolls for now!)

OOC: You'd think a campaign called Out of the Abyss would have a lot of demons in it, wouldn't you? Maybe I'm just too literal-minded.
