On your way to the academy, while traveling though a market, The cries of a Dwarf woman surprise you. "Stop Thief!"
Three strong looking Orcs (CR 1) with tattoos and scars come running out of a store, away from the Elf, and directly toward you. Pushing the people that don't scatter out of the way.
Kodrith sees the brutes running g towards them and the women's shout. He steps out in front of the man, holds his arms up . He will then attempt to toss the man to the ground.
Shove action to knock him prone. My athletics vs his athletics or acrobatics.
Lia steps to the side, willing to let these go if they don't attempt to get in her way. She pulls out her heavy crossbow, just in case this becomes more than three rogues making an escape.
@celtric, (shove is a special action that can replace an attack. It can be used to push someone 5 feet or knock prone. It's your athletics verses their athletics or acrobatics... or you can just smack them in the legs and call it a trip attempt.)
(Side not for future reference, takes half movement to stand back up not full action)
As the orc tried to punch him. Kodrith pulled grabbed his maul, swung back and said ,"I hate cities," and swung down on the one that tried to punch him.
If Lia is 5 feet away, she at a disadvantage to hit with a ranged weapon. Or maybe she wants to fall back to a ranged position? I should have mentioned it before, sorry, but the creatures and the market tents provide half cover, so it would be AC+2.
So your choice, would you like to attack the one near you at disadvantage, or one further with AC +2?
As her first action, in my first post, was to step off to the side, away from them, she is not going to be within 5 feet. Not sure where you have her on the map, since I am blind and cannot see it, but she was moving away to get out of the path of the orcs, and not be anywhere close to them as they ran past. She does not wish to fight these guys, so has no problem giving them half cover against her attacks.
My mistake. I forgot to move you out of their way. There is also a building that is about 10 feet from your location. If you climb on top it would give you an unobstructed shot.
No, she wouldn't climb. She has no wish to fight these guys, but is only trying to wound them enough to get them out of the way, and probably in a jail instead of a cemitary.
Sorry folks, I forgot to move everyone on the map it seems.
The Orcs are now inter meshed with the group. Gold and Kodrith are engaging Orc 1. Krusk is to their left. Chikra and Hallanan are behind them and engaging Orc2. Lia is off to the right between the tents and tables in the market. Orc 3 is 10 feet in front of Gold.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gold will use a little patron magic to sap the strength of the orcs and then will add some patron power to his swing at whichever orc Lia did NOT hit with her with here attack.
BONUS ACTION: cast hex on either orc 1 or orc 2 (whichever one Lia did NOT hit) giving disadvantage on strength checks and adding damage on attacks
ACTION: cast Booming Blade in order to attack the same orc (either 1 or 2 as stated above) - Attack: 18 Damage: 5 slashing damage plus 5 necrotic damage from the hex
SIDE EFFECT: If the attack hits and the Orc moves between now and the start of my next turn it will take another 3 thunder damage from the booming blade
