ARADURK:
The dragon's exuberant grin seems at odd with his annoyed tone, as if he was expecting and desiring that response. "You are outnumbered, orc. Outnumbered, outmatched, and outclassed by your superiors," it says. The elementals hovering within the room begin to whirl, their heat causing sweat to run in rivulets.
"Put your coins at my feet and treasure your beating heart. It would be a pity to have to kill the first creature to be able to spread the fear of Ulfryz the Pyre," the dragon smiles, unfurling its wings and baring its fangs.
OOC: If Aradurk is putting up a fight, it's time for an initiative roll!

Hox is able to approach the door without fear now, seeing no angry dragonborn when Gruun opens it. Rather, a large stalagmite has formed in the center of this room. Five larval creatures, each at least a few feet in length, crawl throughout the room.

Your sword is met by the hobgoblin's; though it parries it wide, it is not quick enough to meet your return strike, which sears white hot, denting his plate armor and impacting it into his side. Grunting through the pain, he steps forward with his shield once more, but expecting it, you step back, parrying two more strikes from him left and right before you settle in your stances again.

If nothing reacts to Rycider's throw, Tanakir steps into the room, a spectral shield defending his back. He draws his club, enhancing it with magic, and opens the door.
Gruun will take a moment to pull a torch from his bag. Lighting it he hands it to Hox, before switching over to his Halberd. "Hold this Hox, lets keep to the wall and make our way around. I'll push away any that try to come close."
Gruun will be trying to gentle nudge the things away from the path. If they jumping or anything else outrageous he'll try to grab Hox and run.
OOC: It is indeed still open, you never said Aradurk closed it behind him.

GRUUN & HOX:
The larval creatures barely react as Gruun nudges them out of the way, but when the barbarian reaches the stalagmite in the center of the room, a series of runes in an unknown languages alight upon the right wall of the room.
The stalagmite itself awakens, unleashing six long, rocky tendrils and opening a single red, bloodshot eye above two rows of hideously sharp fang-like teeth.
The hobgoblin concedes no ground, matching shield to your sword, then masterfully parrying your strike to the side, leading again with his shield. Though you brace yourself against the blow, standing firm, his sword proves slightly quicker than yours as it slams painfully into the armor at your kneecap, buckling it painfully into your skin.

Rycider also uses her parasol to check for traps as she manoeuvres down the hall towards the glowing javelin. She will then give the item a meaningful once over making sure not to disturb anything.
Ulfryz the Pyre barks a primordial command, and before you can reach the door, the fire elementals have surrounded you with incredible speed, reaching out with long tendrils of flame that lick across your skin. The heat is intense, but nothing compared to the gout of flame that the dragon summons from deep within its form. The elementals seem to be unaware and unafraid of the fire that bellows forth over them, but the same can certainly not be said for you; as it catches you from behind, your vision goes white hot.
OOC: If you can mitigate that damage in any way, it will be corrected (Aradurk had 56 HP before the breath took him down). If not, Aradurk must make death saves. He is engaged in melee combat with both fire elementals. The dragon is 20 feet away.

OOC: Yeah, there is nowhere in this room for Hox to hide, other than the big creature it's wide open and evenly lit.
Tendril vs. Gruun: 15 Tendril vs. Hox: 27 Bite vs. Hox: 13
Hox's dagger sails into the creature's mouth, striking hard enough to cause blood to spray forward. Gruun's halberd slams into it just below its eye, still digging deep into its rocky exterior and causing to writhe and roar in pain, a horrible deep grating sound. Its tendrils lash out as they strike out to a tremendous length, wrapping both of you up and pulling you against your will in the air toward it. The creature tries to gnash into Hox when it pulls him close, but the wily kobold is able to adjust the path of the tendril enough to avoid being torn into.
The larvae wriggle slowly across the ground, away from the combat.
OOC: While grappled by the tendrils, you are restrained and have disadvantage on Strength checks and saving throws. Hox is engaged in melee combat with the creature. Gruun is 10 feet away and being pulled closer.
This hobgoblin has proven formidable, fleet of foot, sound of strategy, and free of fear, but it has one glaring weakness: Predictability.
Expecting its shield to lead the way, you time your strikes perfectly, crushing his armor into his lungs with the first, then slicing across his face above his attempted parry; even this he nearly dodges, as it surely would have cut his head in two otherwise. Almost blinded by the blood suddenly pouring into his eyes, he throws all of his weight forward into you, again nearly knocking you off of your feet, but braced against the crashing body, a massive wave of fire is unleashed from your form, casting the room aglow in the blaze and carrying your opponent upward in the intense heat.
The hobgoblin crashes to the floor, smoldering and unmoving.
OOC: Killian has received 3000 XP for defeating the hobgoblin troupe.
