"I...I don't know. I only know that I wanted to help, not...this," Norry responds. "Your friend is still aboard your ship, or at least he was when we arrived. He seemed to understand the situation much more than me, and I can take you to him. The old man's monsters will be searching for us, lingering here will only cause you to end up like all the others."
As he speaks, the music in your minds continues to grow louder, nearly making the end of his sentence inaudible.
"I follow no gods little one, those that would have taught me had no dealings in my life. I was raised by the woods and calmed by a tree speaker. You hold the chains of your past, they do not hold onto you."
"Small man is good with words. Ask him of goal." Hox takes out the jeweled box he got from the cave and holds it up to Norry, "Was there shinies in here?"
"You still have that?" Norry asks, jaw agape as Hox procures the box. His next words are drowned out by the music's increase in volume, which grows so loud it becomes physically painful. The young man repeats something, a question, but cannot be heard as the sound like bells being rung inside of your skull refuses to cease.

The music soon overcomes even your thoughts, dealing a painful 16 psychic damage to each of you, but the pain just as quickly stops along with the music.
The jeweled box falls from Hox's grasp, and lands upon the floor of the boat. "--only be one more. It all works in threes. Three items, three islands, three staffs, three pieces of the crystal staff! It wasn't that hard to figure out, really."
Wes points to his scrawled findings on the back of the map. The misty island is nowhere in sight, nor is Norry. Maverick is in the midst of the Dark Waters once more, though not making much progress as nobody is rowing; the entire party is gathered on deck around Wes as he finishes some sort of explanation.

Wes jumps, startled by Rycider's hug. Clearing his throat, he says, "I'm not so sure you need the direction anymore, Gruun. You never did tell me how you knew that island with the mist wasn't in the correct time flow."
Wes walks the map around, showing everyone the markings that he has made while studying. "If I'm correct, the last staff should be on this island, but we'll have to navigate around this one for it to exist when we need it to," he explains.
Shortly after the rowers increase Maverick's speed, it begins to rain. The sky is oddly bright, despite the setting sun, and even more strangely, while the sky remains overcast, there don't seem to be any dark rainclouds overhead.
The water slowly coats the deck of the ship, where Wes's "Now that is either a sign that we're on the right track, or it's a terrible sign" preludes the realization that the rainfall is a red, viscous substance that is beginning to slowly stain Maverick's exposed wood.

The sun sets among the tedium of the Dark Waters. As the hours tick by, the red rain subsides. The skies are dark, except for a fleeting moment where a large, black, undulating comet appears. Little more than a blip, it is too far to make out any further details before it disappears just as quickly.
Wes stifles a yawn, laying out his bedroll in the corner. "How hard are we pressing tonight? I know you're all more eager to be done with this place than I, but to reach the next island tonight I fear we will need to push ourselves quite hard," he asks.
OOC: Does the party prefer to rest and wait until morning to press on, or do a "forced march" to try and reach the island by night?

Gruun responds, tinged with a trace of sadness
"I follow no gods little one, those that would have taught me had no dealings in my life. I was raised by the woods and calmed by a tree speaker. You hold the chains of your past, they do not hold onto you."
"Small man is good with words. Ask him of goal." Hox takes out the jeweled box he got from the cave and holds it up to Norry, "Was there shinies in here?"
Killian acknowledges Gruun’s comments with a nod. “Take us to the boat, then,” she says to Norry.
ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he).
Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Gruun nods in return and motions for Norry to lead them back to the boat. He'll keep watch of their back and scan the skies.
Aradurk smiles at Norry. "Thank you for helping us."

Rycider will follow, behind the boy.

Hox lets go of the box and drops down, clutching his head once more.

Killian just shakes her head. “Back to the galley,” she smiles at Gruun. Going down to the oars, she prepares to row once again.

Gruun lets out a short sigh. "I'm glad it makes sense. Point us where to go Wes." Gruun goes below to get the oars moving again.
Hox shakes his head as he takes the box. "Strange noise hurts..." He heads down to Beast's stable, hopping into his feed once more.
Aradurk shakes the pain away and heads down to help row.

Ricky gives Wes a hug without comment.
She then keeps a steady beat on the back of her dulcimer to help those rowing, keeping an eye on the boy.

Tanakir looks at the rain, wondering what horror they'll meet with this time, "Let's stay belowdecks for now, as much as we can."
Unaware of the blood rain (!) Killian continues to row.
