The mechanical creatures bob up and down excitedly. Bolt's eye bends upward, seemingly pleased, as it takes the offering. "Thank you for your gift of future healing, small dragon! Ones are quiet, but ones came for a piece of the Crystal Staff, yes? Every one that comes wants one," it says.
"Do you think someone here made these things? Bolt, where did you come from?' Gruun is clearly uneasy around these mechanical creatures. Mostly he is being over cautious while walking to check his feet, nevertheless he continues to help the party get whatever goods or creatures to the shore.
"You speak of rock? Yes, Hox and allies need more rocks." Hox agrees as he finds the creatures easy to understand. "You have rock?" He puts his claws out to the creatures.
"Certainly not. Follow me!" Bolt says cheerfully. He ascends the giant stone steps and leads you toward the stone column towering above the center of the island. The column stretches above cloud level, but at its base a cave has been carved into the massive stone formation. Inside, the main room of the cave appears to split off into 5 separate smaller chambers.
I guess we leave the horses with Wes, then. Killian follows Bolt on foot. Once in the cave she stops, looking at all five entrances for any discernible differences. "How do we choose?" she asks Bolt.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
Wes helps wrangle the mounts back into the ship before you leave for the temple. "Good luck. I will compare the map we found to more of Mordenkainen's notes while you are gone, to see if I can figure out which of these islands we can sail to next," he says.
At the temple, Bolt whirs, "I cannot help one pass the test."
Killian passes by each of the rooms, examining them. The rooms each appear to be relatively the same size, circular and between 20-25 feet in diameter. The walls of each room are covered in geometric shapes. At a glance, they look like they could be representing constellations or stars.
Tanakir looks at the rooms, before picking one at random and going inside. He'll examine the walls for any recognizable patterns, either from his time spend aboard the ship or elsewhere.

Aradurk Investigation: 20
Tanakir and Aradurk struggle to match the inscriptions with anything in their memories.
Killian does not see any visible change to Tanakir when he steps into one of the rooms, but the genasi feels a strange arcane sensation ripple through his body.
Gruun will stay alert for anything coming at them. He'll follow Hox but try to maintain line of sight with Killian in case something starts. He side eyes the rooms and towers but keeps a healthy space away from them.

Gruun Investigation: 6 Hox Investigation: 7
Neither Gruun nor Hox can deduce whether there is any meaning behind the symbols etched around the cave, but they notice that Tanakir does not seem to be suffering any ill effects from stepping into one of the five rooms.

Bolt's body shifts up and down as he answers the questions.
To Killian, "Many ones have come to the temple, but these ones have not come before. Would these ones not remember?"
To Gruun, "Where I come from? This is my home. I teach cooperation to ones."
To Hox, "Yes! Once one shows one can master the temple, one can get one piece of the crystal staff."
Bolt turns to address the party as one, "Ones go North to the temple. Ones go into rooms, and ones will begin the test!"

Tanakir crosses his arms, "A test? Very well. Let's be on our way. I'd say time's a wasting, but we don't really know that for sure, do we?"
"This is why we have come," Killian agrees, mostly to herself. "Is it far?" she asks Bolt.

Tanakir takes a moment to register the feeling, recording it mentally, before stepping out of the room and into another one.
