As Uthal surveys the garden that the group stepped into, he can see no sign that the Arbitrator came through this area. In fact, due to the general undisturbed ground and vegetative growth, it’s likely that no one had been through this area in quite some time.
However, that was about to change, as the one thing Uthal was able to see was the movement of shadows, beyond the archway to the south. Quite possibly someone or something coming to investigate the explosive construction of the castle’s newest gateway.
Uthal backs up a bit towards the others and unslings his hammer from his back, as well as drawing his shield. "I believe that we are about to have company. Seems that our dwarves have attracted the attention of something with their loud entrance."

Anearis followed the rest of the party through the hole in the wall. He takes in the surroundings of the courtyard. Now that they entered the castle, Anearis was feeling more tense than before. They were coming closer to their goal, which also meant that danger was abound.
At Uthal's mention of incoming company, Anearis looked around for a place to hide. "Quickly everyone, get to cover."
Viilgahan turned his head at Uthal's comment about attracting attention, he didn't see anything but apparently there was something there among the shadows. When Anearis called for cover, the dragonborn made a hissing noise in his throat. Annoyed at having to divert attention to what was likely some vermin infestation, the sellspell did back into the lee of the wall near the newly formed hole, attempting to present himself as a target as little as possible. With a well practiced motion he rolled his shoulders as his arms slipped out of his robes, cinching his cloak about his waist with the now loose fabric of its sleeves. Leaving only his crimson shirt about his brass hued torso, the sleeves of which had been tailored off at the shoulder, two symbols could be seen branded into his right shoulder, one stacked above the other. A touch of magic flickered between his hands before falling silent.
Unfortunately when it came to stealth, some were more adapt than others, and all it took was one member of the party to be spotted, to put on alert whoever was coming.
Two robed figures dashed through the archway, each with a dagger drawn, but only a few feet in, they stopped and began looking around for the sound’s source.
Seconds later, several decaying figures slowly lumbered in as well. Not so much to investigate the sound, but more so purely in tow of the robed ones.
However, it wasn’t until a voice called, that it was certain that the party had been spotted. “Figured you three would have been on your way. I even left your pay in the scholar’s tent so you had no reason to pursue.” Above the archway, crouching with bow drawn, was the hooded bowman that Viilgahan and the two dwarfs knew as Viggo. He was looking in their direction.
Anearis sighed as the group was spotted not a minute after entering the castle grounds. It would seem that the stealthy approach was out of the question now.
When the bowman from the night before appeared up the archway, Anearis turned to their new black-scaled companion. "Does this come off as a surprise to you? Or did you at least suspect it?"
Anearis moves to take cover in between the hedges and hopefully remain concealed.

Anearis successfully takes the opportunity of his already achieved stealthy movements, to slink in between some of the hedges; leaving the rest of the party as a distraction and visible targets for the new enemies.
“They’re in the far corner,” Viggo yells to his companions, before running along the wall, until he had a direct clear line of sight of one of the party members. He fires an arrow at Ander. 19 ((Edited for correction to modifier, however, it would have been a miss with the original roll though. It would only have been a 13)) Fortunately Ander’s armor deflects the shot.
Ash zombie 2 shambles 6 grid spaces to the East.
At the sight of the arrow flying past, Nik whips out two throwing axes, one in each hand, and readies an action while standing over his unconscious brother, presenting himself as a wall barrier for him.
"Had my own reasons to arrive Viggo..." Viilgahan hissed. He slunk to where Nik had taken to shielding his brother (between hedges next to N), now having a better line of sight to the creatures shambling toward them.
One of the robed figures (R2) moves 6 grids East, and waved his hands, conducting some sort of magical maneuver, towards one of the undead (Z2) that remained unknown to the party at this time.
Ura would have probably been hiding before all this happened, or at least as soon as Nack made a loud boom: 12
She also would have tried to pick Nack's pocket with her invisible mage hand the moment she saw he was unconscious, to get her Assassin Coin(tm) back: do I need to make a sleight of hand check here if he's unconscious? Would it still be with disadvantage?)
When Uthal gives out his warning, Ura casts Mage Armor on herself and attempts to take cover behind the bush, hiding herself. After listening to the speech, she narrows her eyes at the archer and eyes his bow jealously. It is a real nice bow,she thinks to herself. I want it.
Aiming her own bow at him, she lets an arrow fly. Attack: 12 Damage: 5 + Sneak attack 3
She then tries to get behind the northern hedge for some cover.... BA: Hide 18 (northwest twice from the bush, to that hedge, northern most row on the map)
Following suite of the other grounded members of the party, a robed figure (R1) moves north 3 grid spaces and east 2; placing him right next to the dried up fountain, providing half-coverage for himself.
Bow in hand and an arrow ready, Anearis peaks out of cover and aims for the first robed figure (R1). Afterwards he crouches back down behind the hedge.
Anearis’s arrow barely makes it around the overgrown shrubbery in the garden, and fails to make contact with the target.
Viggo, having Ben previously hit by Uthal, returns the favor, firing two arrows at the goliath.
11 Damage: 7
9 Damage: 3
Even with the semi-coverage of the bush next to Uthal, Viggo’s precision with his weapon seems to ignore such. However, it’s not good enough to penetrate Uthal’s armor.
A zombie (Z2) turns the corner of one of the hedges and begins making its way towards Uthal. (4 East, 4 North)
Nik continues standing his ground, protecting his unconscious and vulnerable brother.
Another zombie (Z3) lumbers towards Ander. (6grid spaces East)
(If possible, Five Foot Step Southwest diagonally to post up behind the low wall of the fountain square. If not, consider Viilgahan leaning out of cover to attack)
With plenty of targets visible to him now, Viilgahan extends his left hand toward the shambling form of a corpse near the fountain (Z3). A mote of flame, willed into being, spat forth from his open hand and arched across the the distance.
(Assuming 10's and higher exist on D20's) Fire Bolt To-Hit: 20
(Miracle.exe) Damage: 7
You hurl a mote of fire at a creature or object within range (120ft). Make a ranged spell attack against the target. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 fire damage.
A flammable object hit by this spell ignites if it isn't being worn or carried.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Viilgahan’s attack lands solidly on the zombie (Z3) dealing damage, though the undead creature seems unphased by it.
The nearby robed figure (R2) steps out 1 space East, and casts a spell. A shimmering green arrow streaks toward a Ander and bursts in a spray of acid. 12 Damage: 9
Fortunately for Ander, the sizzling spray splashed around him, the droplets that hit his armor simply fizzling out.
Ura gnashes her teeth a little at the miss, and tries to take more careful aim at Viggo this time. He's very fast, though, which is incredibly annoying to her, and the presence of hostile mages catches her attention in the way that can only make her stomach twist. Ugh, she thinks, switching her aim and letting her arrow fly at one of the robed figures (R1).
Attack: 18 Damage: 7 + Sneak Attack: 10
Scurrying over, she scurries to the second set of hedges directly to her west and tries to hide again. BA: stealth: 11
