OOC: a reminder - one square on the map is 10ft. While working units - 5ft. I added grid lines.
The plan was good except a couple of points: one - the distance, the devastating spell was not made to cover big spaces, second - troglodytes did not sit in one big blob in front of that exit, but by now were in sitting along the walls, hiding. Still, Cinder managed to do several things - illuminate the cave, attract attention to herself and get the left group to some degree - enough to make them (and the group from the right hand too) to loose self-control (if they had such a thing) and run after the girl.
Troglodytes saves: 2051720
Trogs initiatives: 8, 9, 2, 12, 17, 18, 15
Actually, one troglodyte simply died on spot. But three more just get angrier and scary as hell Ramious was not going to stop them.
Map:
As I get it, Ramious is at the entrance, partially blocking it, Leon is a bit further down the passage but can step in and close the gap, forming the "wall". Girls are now behind.
(Oh, I didn't think Cinder would retreat that far back, just far enough to get the Trogs to the bottleneck. It's alright though, I didn't specify, so my bad!)
Though i was sorting hoping I'd had set a triggered action already... :-D. But, I'm good either way!!! (written before I see my roll...). (sunnavaa..... ug, whatever DICE ROLLER....)
OOC: Aaaand here is your Chaotic DM at it's best - Cinder won initiative, so, by will of the dice we can play RAW here, and the picture of the fight looks like this:
Troglodytes from the group to the right were fist to react (may be because they were not singed). The whole pack of them run to the entrance only to meet Ramious, well prepared to crash a few reptilian skulls //attack roll?// though before he could raise his sword, white raven, hoovering above him, made a deep, throaty kraa call and all four creatures were suddenly engulfed in a bright radiant light
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
That... was a risky move on Ramious part - the lightly disoriented creature was trying to escape ( 12 ) and did so too, but while wrestling the beast, tiefling inhaled a horrible stench from it (Constitution saving throw, please, DC12). Now freed Troglodyte attacked:
Bite: Attack: 22 Damage: 3
Claw: Attack: 22 Damage: 5
Attack: 18 Damage: 6
Two other troglodytes tried to reach him as well:
Trog8:
Bite: Attack: 13 Damage: 3
Claw: Attack: 7 Damage: 3
Attack: 9 Damage: 4
Trog5:
Bite: Attack: 8 Damage: 4
Claw: Attack: 12 Damage: 5
Attack: 18 Damage: 3
But number 6 was still after Cinder, though Leon, standing right on the way, distracted him enough to reconsider the target and attack him instead
Trog6 against Leon:
Bite: Attack: 22 Damage: 5
Claw: Attack: 6 Damage: 4
Attack: 22 Damage: 4
Leon turned out to be unharmed - to much surprise of the troglodyte, but three others did added new bleeding scratches and bite marks to Ramious's skin.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With a nod of his head, Leon takes in the one who had attacked him, though none of the strikes ahd even gotten close to harming him. Speaking some words of magic, his great sword vibrates as magic infuses it. Then he lashes out at the one before him...
Cinder skids to a stop, overshooting her goal and sliding past Alyssa. Realizing her mistake, she grins as she runs by Alyssa again - "Sorry, coming through!" - and closes in on the first troglodyte that she can. Lifting her warpick, she swings it down, still laughing as she does so, obviously enjoying herself.
Attack: 14 Damage: 11
Seeing Ramious taking a few hits, Cinder activates a rune on her armor, which begins to glow in a flickering red light, almost like the flames of her hair. "Tev sra kcorak uk boromca, Uvar!" she shouts in giant, entering a prophetic state.
"Tip the scales of balance, Uvar!"
Uvar (Storm Rune) - Prophetic State
You can invoke the rune as a bonus action to enter a prophetic state for 1 minute or until you’re incapacitated. Until the state ends, when you or another creature you can see within 60 feet of you makes an attack roll, a saving throw, or an ability check, you can use your reaction to cause the roll to have advantage or disadvantage.
(Ramious has advantage on his constitution saving throw.
Since I'm assuming Cinder will have to make one in melee as well, here is mine at advantage because of resistance to poison: 22)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The poor creature, sorry, the terrible monster would not move anywhere anymore - Leon kill it on spot. However, another one took it's place - Trog 4 stepped in and tried to avenge his dead comrade, probably still hoping that angry meat is edible.
Trog 4 attacking Leon:
Bite: Attack: 22 Damage: 6
Claw: Attack: 9 Damage: 10
Attack: 7 Damage: 4
Troglodyte 1 stepped closer and, unable to claw his way through the live wall, attacked the only person he could see - Ramious:
Bite: Attack: 14 Damage: 4
Claw: Attack: 7 Damage: 5
Attack: 11 Damage: 4
Troglodyte number 3 was growling and weeping (wounds were still hurting) on the background, waiting for it's turn to get a bite.
-------------------------------------------
Unless Ramious and Alyssa want to take a bonus action (add it to the next turn), we are now at round 2 and follow the Initiative order without prepared actions:
Cinder eliminated Trog 4, laughing at it's pathetic natural weapon and "dangerous" stench. But three troglodytes assaulting Ramious did not even noticed yet another dead boy - they were focused on tiefling:
Trog 7
Bite: Attack: 13 Damage: 6
Claw: Attack: 21 Damage: 5
Attack: 12 Damage: 4
Trog 8
Bite: Attack: 6 Damage: 4
Claw: Attack: 22 Damage: 5
Attack: 22 Damage: 5
Trog 5
Bite: Attack: 8 Damage: 3
Claw: Attack: 12 Damage: 4
Attack: 11 Damage: 5
Now it was Leon's turn to act again! One step - and three trogs are open to him, including one on Ramious.
P.S. I am watching your HP - you do not have to change it yourself. Both Leon and Ramious are wounded, but so is most of the troglodytes.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Leon adjusts his position, moving so he is confronting multiple of the creatures. He raises his blade in salute to them, then speaks more words of magic...
Unfortunately it did not work - not completely. Troglodytes probably were getting used to the strange creatures attacking them and Leon missed, but he closed the gap in the living wall, and probably redirected troglodytes attention.
Meanwile, Alyssa and Ramious got a chance to attack again.
(Ramious - Stam save DC 12, Leon - same, Ramious and Alyssa still have bonus actions from previous round)
Alyssa's red eyes dart around as she observes the flurry of attacks unfolding in front of her. She was not one bit flustered. She was focused. Calculating. A smirk would even curl up from her mouth as Cinder flies to and from her peripherals.
The elf would begin to hum the melody of an old hymn her mom used to sing and her pendant would begin to glow. She'll lift an arm as she stares down all five foes before them, "Let's light up their life." Alyssa would snap her fingers, sending a flash of radiant light to the troglodytes, again.
Whether because of the poison or troglodytes alertness, but Ramious missed, however, it did not matter that much - the bright radiant light made the shriek again, and one by one Tr1, Tr7 and Tr8 collapsed to the floor. All what was left where two creatures - heavy wounded Tr3, now attacking Leon, and cowardly Tr5, that was hugging the wall by Ramious and probably ready to sell his life for the highest possible price!
Attack against Leon:
Bite: Attack: 11 Damage: 3
Claw: Attack: 5 Damage: 3
Attack: 5 Damage: 3
One claw attack went through Leon's armour, and he felt situation become more and more serious (heavy wounded).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cinder will advance to the next troglodyte she can reach, preferably in a way that she can make it more difficult to reach her teammates - especially Leon, who is starting to look a bit green around the edges. "Hey!" she yells at the troglodytes, advancing with her shield forward. "Are you ignoring me, you bastards?!" She swings her pick down once again to catch their attention.
Attack: 18 Damage: 7
Cinder is so angry that she takes an action surge to attack again with her pick, trying to smash it into her next unwilling victim:
Attack: 12 Damage: 6
(Depending on how that hits, reaction coming up...)
Cinder will use her prophetic state to reroll attack number 1 because of advantage: 13
The way to the Leon's attacker was thoroughly blocked, but Cinder found an opening between the wall and Ramious big enough to run an untouched so far troglodyte through with her Javelin, killing the monster on spot.
All what was left of the small pack was heavily wounded Trog 3, now at full mercy of Leon, Alyssa and Ramious.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
With her clerical training under her belt, the elf always calculates her moves based off of the health of the party. Last round she made the calculated decision to cut down more foes to reduce the chance of damage that could be taken rather than jumping to use her magic reserves during her first fight. Trusting that the others could handle the final Troglodyte, Alyssa would take a step forward and place a gentle hand on Leon’s shoulder and whisper in celestial. A warm glow will emanate from her palm.
