Quin is exhausted but happy that they solved the riddle. Rather that Lia solved the riddle. She too feels filthy. She still keeps feeling phantom spider webs. But she is drawn to gem inlaid floor because of her background as a jeweler. The floor is striking.
When she left Blasingdale, running away from the party she had been with previously, she had a plethora of gems and supplies for making jewelry as well as a large amount of loot. But her gems have mysteriously disappeared. She still has plenty of gold, she thinks, to pay for a room.
"Bentley, how much are the rooms and do you have rooms available with access to a bath?" She is willing to pay if it's not too steep. Throm or one of the others had said they were pretty sure they didn't have the kind of funds required for a room in this new 6 star hotel piazza or whatever the fancily dressed Bentley called it.
"Throm, I was on a very high paying adventure before I got trapped here. Your room is one me." She then turned to Bentley and told him to put their costs on her bill. She is sure that she will find her missing gems. She had a jade figurine too. And a ruby necklace with matching earrings that she had worn one time and never would again. She hd more loot than she knew what to do with.
"Hatch, I will meet all of you upstairs for a quick recon as soon as Bentley takes care of my account."
(OOC I was looking at books and things today and really am exhausted. My husband and I sell antiquarian and rare books. It's always great fun to find a hoard of books but the deceased man was actually a real hoarder. He had the means to be a very neat hoarder though. I'm just now through loading stuff. Books are heavy. When I went to gain a level, I noticed that all my sorcery spells disappeared. That has happened to me several times recently and I think it might be from leveling without first taking a long rest. I hope that's what it is. Anyway, I tried to remember what spells I had and I think I came pretty close but not I have to re-add the+1 from Rod of the Pact Keeper all over again. I think I'm going to shower and just go to bed and worry about it tomorrow..))

Onyx approached as Quin engaged with Bentley. While it was kind of her to pay for their "new" rooms--probably for the fourth time--he was curious as to exactly how much a room here actually cost--and exactly how luxurious it would wind up being.
Looking around at the accommodations, the young warlock found himself feeling like a lamb being pampered and fattened, for some reason.
a newcomer walks, or rather, floats into the tavern, she is floating 2 inches off the ground. Her skin is pure white, and her eyes are too, she is covered in white bandages, and shards of broken glass. her hair is very long, and stuck in a big wavy mess behind her head.
(Serious retcon. This is no longer a tavern. Willagee by now would be way too refined to ever utter, “No way, pal!”. See the 4th paragraph in post #721 for the environs you have stumbled into.)
"Nice to meet you too, Lia," said Galerius, smiling as he walked over from the piano towards Lia. He shook her hand and said, "What's up with the piano? I pressed a key and nothing happened. So why does it say 'please do not touch the piano'?"
"By the way," said Galerius. "My full name is Galerius Galanodel."
Bentley reponds first to Quin, waving away her proffered coin with a white-gloved hand, and saying: That will not be necessary right now. Your bill will be settled upon your check-out.
In response to Hatch's question, Bentley sniffs in a somewhat snooty reply: Ah, more tourists, I see. I assume you are referring to our fabled guest? For centuries it has lain in this castle, slumbering in the highest room of the tallest tower.
Bentley's speech is cut off however as a commotion breaks out nearby. Galerius doesn't get the chance to introduce himself to Lia, because the moment he touches the piano, he finds his hand somehow stuck to it. The piano keys start to separate from one another, alternately rising and falling to form a large gap in between, inside of which Galerius can see a huge tongue. The piano then attempts to bite the foolish dragonborn...
Piano bites Galerius. Attack: 20. Damage: 6 piercing plus 8 acid damage
Onyx jumped, startled at the piano's sudden transformation. He'd heard of false treasure chests before, ones that were really creatures lying in wait for unsuspecting adventures. He'd never encountered the piano breed of such; and found himself frozen, watching the monster's attempted devouring with growing fascination.
Snapping out of it, he sighed; true, the newcomer had earned the bite, but he might also need a hand. The warlock quickly settled on a spell to try to keep things from getting out of hand.
Uttering an arcane incantation, and pointing two fingers at it, he addressed the shapeshifting creature: "Calm yourself, friend; no one shall touch you again." He didn't know if the thing understood his language, but hopefully his tone would be enough for it to calm down once the magic worked--IF it worked.
(( The mimic must make a DC 17 Wisdom saving throw or be charmed by Onyx for an hour. ))
Apparently this piano has been here for some time, and is accustomed to people not following the message on the small placard. It resists Onyx's attempt to magically calm it down, and holds fast to Galerius' hand. Bentley the halfling butler mutters his disapproval of this uncouth dragonborn that apparently lacks either the intelligence to read or the wisdom to follow the simplest instructions (or both), and unbuttons his jacket in order to reach for something in his pocket. Meanwhile, he continues to address the questions posed to him by the new arrivals: Our rate for accommodation is ten gold pieces per person per night. You pay extra for use of the theatre, the massage parlor or the barber, and entrance to the pools. Rates for these will be added to your bill.
(OOC Thank you Onyx for sharing the bug workaround. I've copied the address of the forum so I can find it again.)
Quin stared at Bentley as he told her that her bill would be settled when she checked out. She was on the verge of asking him how much lodgings cost per night when Bentley answered Hatch's question.
She thought first, 'We're in a castle!' And when she started to ask who the fabled guest on the top floor was, there was a commotion. First she saw Lia introducing herself to some strange looking white creature who had floated in. then suddenly a Dragonborn appeared, introducing himself and in the manner of a child walked up to the piano with the warning sign and immediately press a key.
As she watched what followed, she thought to herself, 'Just when you think things can't get weirder....'

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Sorry, I should have posted more detail. "Adhesive (Object Form Only). The mimic adheres to anything that touches it. A Huge or smaller creature adhered to the mimic is also grappled by it (escape DC 13). Ability checks made to escape this grapple have disadvantage." I'll make the disadvantage roll for Galerius: 18
Galerius feels the effect of Lia's psychic powers giving him greater fortitude against the piano's acidic bite. He wrenches his hand and manages to extract it from the piano keys, although they have left a residual mark on his scaly skin. The piano gives a tinkling gurgle and resumes it's original shape, and once again music starts to softly play, although the song has a slightly more minor edge to it than before.
Lia smiles and turns to Ren. "Pleased to meet you. There's never a dull moment in this place, I assure you." She looks back to Bentley. "Your esteemed guest wouldn't happen to have wings, would they? Or some other method of flight?"
"thats right, I've never lost the key to my room, even after all the earlier changes." Lok added, grimacing at the reminder of the Count.
"this place is getting too fancy for me." The barbarian grumbled
"I agree though" "A rest is in order, I feel exhausted."
(Would I be allowed to walk in now, without asking or anything?)

Lia uses her reaction to use Augmented Defences, reducing Galerius' damage by 10. (Finally a good roll! That means you've only taken 4 damage.)
Galerius decided to attempt to wrench his hand out of the piano's "mouth". He made a strength check.
12.
With a grunt, the Dragonborn wrenched his hand out of the piano. He then decided to set fire to it.
With a 8 as his AC check, Galerius sighed and slinked into the shadows.

Galerius, in spite of his earlier not adhering to the logic of the multiverse, still wrenched his dragon hand free.
