Option A: If you want to rope harness people to the ceiling (who's going to stand on whose back to hammer the pitons in, btw), then you'll need 5 pitons and 50 feet of rope (do you have enough rope) to keep two people safe from the blast. These two won't need to roll a save; the rest can just take their chances.
Option B: If you want to just hammer pitons and use them to pull yourselves up (a pull-up) out of the blast area, I'll allow it with a successful Athletics check. This requires two pitons per person and no rope. You have enough pitons for all of you, though I have no idea how you plan to set off the trap or open the doors. A successful Athletics check means you don't have to save against the trap.
Option C: Open the door, deface the trap, let lightning strike where it will. You know you want to do this. You're all big adventurers, you can take it.
Alianna casts Mage Hand. She hammers two pitons and hangs on for dear life to the wall on I16. Once everyone is up on the walls, she will ask the Mage Hand to open the door on the West.
OOC: Just what exactly is your plan then?

My thoughts are Option B.
I'll ask Mithrokk or Farnakees to Help on my Athletics Check.

OOC - If they take the Help action, then they can't take the Athletics check. For Option B, everyone pulls their own weight ... literally.
OOC: I assume we can do both A and B. Mages do A. The rest of us do B. I think we all have 50' rope. Lath has, for sure.
OOC: If someone fails their Athletics check, they still get a Dex save...
Lath takes two pitons from Rast, hammers them into the east wall of J16, and hangs on.
OOC: Seems we do not have enough pitons for the Combo A & B option. In that case, we'll go for Option B with 2 pitons per pc then Athletics checks.
Mithrokk takes two pitons from Rast, hammers them into the west wall of G16, and hangs on.
OOC - Your group doesn't have enough pitons. I checked. Only 10, courtesy of Rastaris.
Farnakees offers to help the mages in hammering pitons in, and hammers his own in.
OOC:I assume you're standing on Farnakees's back in order to reach that high ... especially Mithrokk.

OOC: You assume correct. (Is that ok, Farnakees?)
OOC: Once Alianna triggers the trap, Lath makes this Athletics check: 13
OOC: So Alianna will use the Mage Hand to open the door and trigger the trap ... that'll work. Make your Athletics check then.
Athletics: 14
Athletics: 15
Farnakees offers up his back to the Paladin.
Rerolling Athletics: 2
This is if no one comes to Help. But if they help, they cannot do their own Athletics.
OOC: Ouch.
To the DM: Can Crossbow bolts be used in place of pitons (maybe more bolts used) - Rastaris still has 10.
OOC: Can Rastaris hang on to the dwarf's humungous guns?
Farnakees Athletics: 18
