Boosey makes a placating gesture to Allister. "Calm friend. It doesn't matter what we do, if they want to have us for breakfast, they'll do it." He gives the giant at the back a sour look. "There's one of them considering that right now," and he gives a nervous swallow. "He appears to have marked me as a mid-morning snack."
He addresses the giant. "Artus Cimber, a human or gnome?" he asks. "It's not a name I recall, but if we manage to reach Fort Beluarian they may have knowledge of this person. Has he wronged you in some way?"
Eku shakes her head and shrugs in response to Sthara's question, but then jumps with a start, the color draining from her face. The female giant suddenly goes into a rage punching the tree next to her three times before letting out a primal scream aimed at no one in particular. The sound echoes off the trees and birds scatter into the air, fleeing the area. The two male giants step back at the onset of her obvious and unexpected fury. She turns with her fists clenched to the party and calls to her comrades, before walking away, "Komma! Vi hittar inte vintern här." The giant being held back before glares at Funderburk, shaking his head. Whatever authority the female has over the male giants must be absolute because they too walk away following the first into the jungle.
A snarl from the first wolf to appear gains the party's immediate attention. It calls out in its guttural common again saying, "You've been spared. In return, you never saw us." The phrase obviously wasn't meant as a question, as the wolf doesn't wait for an answer. It makes a move to go around the party to follow after the giants. When it becomes apparent that everyone might walk away from this, Eku lets out a sigh of relief that sounds as if she had been holding it from the start of the confrontation.
Boosey:
The giant said, "Come! We won't find the winter here."
Looking in the direction in which the giants and wolves moved off in, Boosey starts to speak. As the words start to form he stops, choking them off several times, before finally managing, "What the hell just happened!?"
Funderburk, with as pale as a blue face can muster, "And why was he glaring at me?!" He knew the answer, figuring the Vedalken looked like an easy and tasty snack.
Nenne releases her amulet and, casting a wide grin at the gnome, pats him gently on the shoulder. "What happened was that Kelemvor has made his judgment. Our paths do not end here."
She turns to the rest. "This was a most unexpected crossing," she admits, rubbing her neck sheepishly. "Thank you all for facing it with me. I am convinced of your virtue and mettle - and your friendship. I hope to prove myself worthy of it as we continue our mission."
She gazes off in the direction the giants retreated. "I do wish to help them, somehow. It seems they are trapped on this plane. Perhaps this Artus Cimber is the culprit, or potentially an ally. When we arrive at the fort, I should like to learn more of him. Perhaps he is connected with the death curse."
Allister finall releases the hilts of his weapons, noticing his white knuckles and shaking his hands to ease the tense muscles. „I knew a sailor from Kara-Tur who said ‚Your enemy‘s enemy is your friend.‘ So I would rather help someone who is fleeing from those giants. Now, let’s not waste Kelemvor‘s gift and get as many miles as possible between the giants and us.“
Eku nods to Nenne. "Yes, let's be gone from here before they change their minds about leaving us in tact." Once again she takes up her serpent walking stick and pushes on into the jungle.
After the encounter with the giants, the day goes on uneventfully enough. The rain comes back throughout the day, turning into a outright downpour by evening. Eku yells to the party through the rain, "I think we should camp for the night and wait this out!" Setting up any semblance of a camp is chaotic and downright dirty as everyone slips around in the mud and steps into large puddles of standing water. The rain continues into the next day...
Day 8
Nenne is on watch in the wee hours of the morning before the sun has come up - if the sun is even going to come up in this weather. The rain is still pouring in buckets, but the cleric spots a flicker from beyond the camp. It was only a moment, but there was definitely an orange light over....there! Yes. Is that a fire?
The ?fire? is hard to see and is through some underbrush some 70 feet away.

@DM:
I assume Sthara hasn't heard this person's name before, right?
No.
@DM
Has Funderburk heard of this of this name or know the person?
Made you look.
I don't think anyone has ever heard the name before.
“Hee Eku, uyayazi le ndoda bathetha ngayo?” Sthara says to their guide in Chult’s tongue.
@DM:
“Hey Eku, do you know this man they speak of?” — I’ve been using Xhosa translations btw
She then addresses Nenne.
”Handle this quickly please.”

"Yes, let us go and find real beds and food near the Fort, with haste." Sthara says rubbing her stomach.
"Agreed. Eku? If you wouldn't mind leading us?"
"How long will it take us to get there, Eku? Barring any more giant problems, or winter suddenly setting in!"
Eku nods to Nenne. "Yes, let's be gone from here before they change their minds about leaving us in tact." Once again she takes up her serpent walking stick and pushes on into the jungle.
Eku probably explains during a rest that this is where your party is now.

Nenne pokes Allister and Funderburk awake with the handle of her mace.
"Movement," she says in a sharp undertone, pointing in the direction of the light. "70 feet. Orange light, unlikely a torch. What make you of it?"
“Anyone got a way of scouting ahead? Magic eyes or sneaking up on that?“ Allister „gently„ wakes the rest and repeats his question
"I'll sneak over and take a look." Boosey moves carefully in the direction of the light, creeping quietly through the undergrowth. Stealth check 25
