Name: Tom Longshanks
Race/Class Human variant/fighter
Backstory: Left the army after being ordered to burn a village with non-combatants. I been a caravan guard/mercenary looking for work ever since. Months ago, the I served as a guard for a band of mysterious pilgrims who set out to reoccupy the Sacred Stone Monastery. My mission is to infiltrate the group and discover their intentions.
Experience with D&D: I've been playing DnD off and on for 15+ years. Currently DMing two campaigns here on DnD Beyond PbP.
Timezone: Alaska Standard Time (-4 hours from EST). I work swing shift.
Will continuously edit this post until the character is completed. Hoping to build a triton monk who goes Four Elements. And the best way to eat pineapple on pizza is to throw it in the trash.
Class - Monk (Way of the Four Elements at 3rd level)
Backstory - I (Vodos) entered a monastery at a young age, deep beneath the waves of the Sea of Fallen Stars. To complete my training, I took an oath to wander the surface world for a number of years, to get a better lived experience with all the elements (particularly fire) in a broader context.
Early in my journey to the surface, Gar Shatterkeel destroyed the ship on which I'd been traveling by conjuring a powerful storm. Dozens of sailors died, and now I intend revenge.
D&D Experience - I've been in the game since 2nd Edition, in various ways, usually as the DM. I'm new to PbP gaming, tho.
Race/Class - Dragonborn / Cleric (MC into Rogue at lvl 2)
Backstory - When Longen was a young child, his family was on a voyage by ship when a terrible storm drove their ship into the reefs. Everyone but Longen drowned in the shipwreck, and his future looked grim on the rocky reef in the ocean. A passing ship rescued Longen, and he was adopted into a Talos worshiping pirate clan named the Stormchasers. Longen was raised by the clan's head priest, and was taught to preach and worship Talos, along with more unsavory arts of pirate life. Longen spent the next decade living with the clan on their home island and learning from his adoptive father Verrik. When he was 18, Longen was sent on his first raid as the weather priest of the Wavedeath. What he thought was going to be a "harmless" plunder run instead turned out to be a full on **** and pillage of a coastal village. Longen quickly realized that he didn't have the stomach for his adoptive families brutal brand of piracy. While his fellow pirates were tearing the village apart, Longen fled inland, ashamed of both what the pirates had done, and that he couldn't bring himself to participate. Longen has been wandering the countryside ever since, earning a meager living bringing rain and storms to desperate villages, and working as a mercenary for hire. His favorite food is pineapple.
Experience with D&D - I've been playing 3.5e for about 15 years, and recently switched to 5e. I've DMed a few campaigns, so I have a pretty solid grasp of the rules, but I've only ever been a DM in 5e, never a player (until now hopefully!)

Name: Alban Shadeswalker
Race/Class: Half-Elf Warlock (Hexblade)
Backstory: Alban grew up as an urchin on the streets of Neverwinter. He has no memory of his parents. He scraped by as a pickpocket and a petty thief for his childhood, learning the best places in the city to hide from the constabulary. As he entered adolescence, his tenacity and cunning attracted the interest of Skotos, a powerful abyssal ghoul member of the ruling elite of Evernight. Skotos offered to become Alban's warlock patron. Desperate for any edge to help him survive, Alban accepted. Alban's connection to the Shadowfell has helped him make a name for himself as a mercenary and bounty hunter in Neverwinter. Skotos' demands have gradually become more onerous as the years have increased. He first asked Alban to supply information about Neverwinter. Now the demands have included thefts of strange objects, magical and otherwise, to be delivered to the Shadowfell through intermediaries. There is no lost love between Alban and Skotos. Their relationship as warlock and patron is a business arrangement. Alban has learned to carefully understand and specify the terms of their relationship over the years. He will keep his pact with Skotos, but he fears what Skotos and the leaders of Evernight might be planning to do to Neverwinter and the Material plane.
Several months ago, Alban was approached by members of a fire cult who wanted to employ his services. Alban refused, finding the cultists distasteful and insane. However, rumors about this meeting have persisted, and Alban has found his business drying up. To dispel the rumors and hopefully resume his income stream, Alban has decided to search out and destroy the fire cult.
Although Alban projects an uncaring and indifferent demeanor, he does have a soft side. He remembers his difficult years on the streets of Neverwinter and has a soft spot in his heart for other orphans. He quietly supports an orphanage and is always willing to toss a few coins to an urchin.
Experience with D&D: I've been playing D&D for 15 years (starting with 3.5). I've played pretty consistently since then, as well as DM'd occasionally. I've also got experience as a player with Mutants and Masterminds, Star Wars (Saga Edition), and the d6 LotR Roleplaying Game. As a DM, I've also run a campaign set in the WoTC Wheel of Time game based on 3 E. I've participated in PbP games both as a player and as a DM.
Currently playing in: Quest for the Shunned City, Coliseum of Conquest, DragonDenn's Dragonlords, Shipwrecked on Fugue, Tomb of Annihilation, Razor's Lost Mine of Phandelver, The Lost Kenku & One Grung Above
Currently DMing: Princes of the Apocalypse, Out of the Abyss, Coliseum of Conquest—The Arena (Sometimes)
The WoT game had some really fun parts, but it was really unbalanced. There's a homebrew conversion floating around the internet that updated it from D&D 3.0 rules to Pathfinder 1e that helped a lot. Wizards never supported the game, so all the materials are really hard to find. All they published was the core rulebook and a single adventure (but the adventure is long and pretty fun).

Backstory. Savion grew up in an elven community in the eastern reaches of the High Forest with his parents and twin brother, Sawain. Sawain was "the good son." Savion, on the other hand, was always getting into trouble -- fighting peers, killing animals for entertainment, and the like. His parents were proponents of the Caerilcarn, a political position Savion found intolerable. The tension from his views and behavior mounted until the day he left home and walked deeper into the High Forest.
After some time surviving on his own, Savion was befriended by another elven hermit, Arvithane. Arvithane mentored Savion in druidcraft and helped him strive for peace with the natural world around him and with the violent nature within him.
Years later, Savion began to hear whispers on the wind of a new circle of druids in the region. He took this news to Arvithane, who in turn, took it to the Emerald Enclave. The Enclave decided that Savion should be the one to investigate these druids (Dangerous Secret hook)... and the pineapples. It's always the damned pineapples.
Experience with D&D I've been playing for about 5 years. I'm a player in one IRL campaign and a DM for Curse of Strahd with a group of friends. I'm also currently in one PbP campaign.
Timezone. MST. Posting multiple times per day is currently not a problem. Once life returns to normal, I will only be able to post after work Tues-Fri (and any time Sat-Mon) -- but still at least once every day.

Backstory: His had always been a small clan. Close knit. Life had been tough, with little in the way of contact with other people. Taklinn grew restless and set out to see the world. Living alone, in the wild for many years had given him perspective on his life - Nature was not to be messed with.
Recently he had word that his great-great-great grandfather had passed. Upon return home to pay his respects, Taklinn had been left a small box in the will. Inside was a piece of preserved pineapple and a scroll. The scroll was actually an ancient map. Apparently his ancestors were descendants of a bloodline from the Sumber Hills. Now that would be an adventure.
Timezone: UTC+10 (Australia)
Experience with D&D: Played 3.5e many years ago. Have only taken up again since the new year, and only on D&D Beyond. Currently in a handful of campaigns and loving every minute of it. Reasonably familiar with the toolset here on D&DB but still learning the intricacies of 5e. I prefer to play for flavour over optimisation.
Backstory - Tyrael was an impulsive and competitive youth, albeit naïve, so when the strange old ***** woman he met on the road offered him a dark sword with wondrous powers that would grow with him, he didn't think twice. He has since been wandering the back woods and small towns, trying to right the wrongs in the world in order to somehow make up for his mistake.
His backstory will be customized to mesh with the campaign and party, but he's designed as a Michael (Paul Bettany/Legion) & Bruce Banner mashup.
Experience with D&D - I've been playing weekly or monthly, almost without stop (given schedule complexities as working adults with kids) for almost 40 years. I have been the primary DM for my IRL friends for more than 20 years, but I prefer to be a player. My dice are pineapple flavored.

I cannot make an online character sheet because they dont have a forest gnome option...
Backstory: "Cloak" was found as a baby wrapped in a cloak lying in a cave by a group of halflings who had taken refuge from a storm in the cave. Next to the child they found a torn off corner of a map from some far off country and a small stone of an unknown material. The haflings brought the starving child to live with them and through the years he became proficient with the shortbow. When he was 12 he was off hunting rabbits when he heared a loud rumbling sound. He was confused but continued his hunting. When he returned, the hafling village had disapeared and the only family he had ever known was gone. He began using his quickness and small size to steal for a living, moving from one town to the next hoping to hear some news of what had happened to the village but he heared nothing. Then he heared reports of a cult in the area, so he began using his criminal skills to locate cults in the area and try to find out what happened to the village.
(My advice would be to look at the forum posts about tooltips and rolling, those are going to be what is the most different about DDB.)
