Naltic draws his spell casting focus and fires an eldritch blast at Goblin 2. “Let’s see if this works,” he says as he lifts his hand up, summoning an otherworldly tentacle from the ground in the space between Goblin 2 and 3. As it rises from the ground, it grabs at Goblin 2 (unless it is already dead, in which case it will attack 3).
Blast Attack: 13 Damage: 2 force
Tentacle Attack: 22 Damage: 7 lightning and speed is reduced 10 ft if hit.
Taraven, you sit perched in the passageway, arrow at the ready. Can you please re-roll your attack, it seems they didn't come through.
Naltic, your blast of energy shoots through the air at the unsuspecting goblin, and JUST misses as it slams into the far cavern wall. At the same time, your tentacle appears, escaping from the ground in the middle of the goblins, and lashes out. However, the goblin is able to get out of the way quite easily as it took some time for the tentacle to make its way from the earth. Unfortunately, neither attacks hit.
So - all of the goblins that are in the west cave are now active in this combat situation. None of them will make an action this round, since they are all surprised. They will start their actions in round 2 and will use the same initiative as the goblin on the bridge.
Back to the bridge... the goblin, completely surprised this round, does nothing as the lasso tightens around him.
Zene, with the lasso tightly around the goblins body, your intimidation efforts go a long way. This goblin is scared. It looks down the rope and sees you and Willi and calls back to you, in goblin "Aaarrrghhh!!! What is this?? Who are you?? We goblin clan! CRAGMAW CLAN!! Lots of us! We control cave! Make rope go away or I have you WASHED out!!"
Willi, you're up to finish off round 1! You can assume that Zene translated the goblin language to you in the moment, so you know what it said as well.
Willi tries to pull the goblin down from the bridge. He jumps up and grabs the rope as high as he can and hangs his full weigt into the rope. Don know what check is required for this. 19 + whatever gats added

Willi, lets say its an athletics check. You crushed it. You jump as high as you can, grab the rope and then hang/pull down as you feel the goblin give and it comes right off the bridge! The goblin comes hard crashing down 20 feet with the momentum of your pulling as well... 7 and it lands on its head. The goblin skull cracks quite loudly when it slams to the ground, just beside the cave. Blood leaks out of the crack. The goblin is dead.

(I will move for Naltic until he comes back)
Naltic fires another eldrich blast at goblin 3 from the passageway that he and Taraven are in: Attack: 14 Damage: 4 and the crackling stream of energy slams into the goblin. He takes 4 damage and screams out to his comrades something in goblin. Naltic would then use a bonus action to lash the magical tentacle at goblin 3 as well in an attempt to finish it off: Attack: 17 Damage: 5 ... and the tentacle connects this time, jolting the goblin with electric damage. The goblin shakes from the shock and falls dead to the ground.
Goblins are up! They are all kind of moving around frantically... except for the one who looks like the leader up top on the ledge on the south end of the cave. It seems to be threatening the hostage.
#2 and #3 goblins, seeing where the blast came from, can now see Taraven and Naltic in the passage. They move ahead slightly which triggers Taraven's readied arrow.... which whizzes by the goblins. They both raise their shortbows and send arrows your way. First one goes to Taraven, the second one goes to Naltic. Both of you have half cover since you are in the passageway and they don't have clear shots (+2 ac)...
Attack: 5 Damage: 4
Attack: 20 Damage: 5
...... the goblins must be used to shooting into that passageway, because both of their arrows find their marks. Taraven, you get stuck in the neck and immediately loose all of the color in your skin. You fall limp in the passageway, unconscious. Naltic, you also take a good stab from the arrow in the gut, although it doesn't put you down.
The goblin leader doesn't move, just starts to laugh when he sees the other goblins connect with their arrows. He then puts its sword near the hostage's neck.
Not Sure on the context of the STR check but here ya go. Str Check 11If im grappled i'd like to use Athletics which would be +2 otherwise its a straight d20 on STR check.
I feel like my character would probably rage to attempt to get out as well so just in case heres a d20 with advantage on raging 9 (assuming an enemy is nearby holding me or holding me back)
(Apologies, I assumed Gnoliath had the +2 on general STR ability checks as well as specific skill checks for Athletics. We will use the +2 for sure, so 13.)
The reason for it is a surprise, which I will go through once Gnoliath cycles his turn in the next round! He will be last... but makes sense as you will soon see. I wasn't even going to bring him in this battle, but from the recent events, I think the party may need some help.
Zene, please make an Athletics check, with advantage because Naltic would be helping, to climb up the steep embankment of that passageway to get to the others.
So Zene, you make it up the embankment quite easily, and see Taraven bleeding out. Naltic is also wounded pretty bad from an arrow. You won't be able to make any other actions until the next round.
Willi is up!
Gnoliath - I'm going to bring you into this round of action... so with your initiative roll, you will be up after Willi. Your strength check has broken the rusty chains that the goblins had you restrained in, and you will be able to make one action. You don't know any of the party of course, and they do not know you yet, either. They can't even see you right now.
Also, to get the next round kicked off, Taraven can make her first death save, and Naltic can queue up his action.
Willi, you move up to the mouth of the passageway that everyone is currently sardined in. You take a look and it seems there is just enough room for you to fit. Please make that Athletics or Acrobatics check, with advantage because Zene would be helping.
Gnoliath, you snap the chains and grab your weapon which was right beside you. The goblins hadn't had time to take your equipment because they had just captured you. You feel the red anger flow through your body (rage) as you sprint to the goblin... at the last moment, the goblin sees your sword coming and moves slightly to the left, avoiding the deadly blade. The goblin growls and bears its teeth. After the miss, you are also able to get a good look at the man almost naked and tied up. He's an older human. He's in rough shape. He has been badly beaten. You also notice that you seem to be up high on some kind of ledge within this cave along with the goblin and the human prisoner. It's about 10 feet high.
(but he's naked except for a loin cloth)
Taraven, the blood continues to flow.
Naltic is up! Then the goblins.

Taraven will nock an arrow and will wait until a goblin moves toward passage on the right or one tries to hurt the person being held hostage.
If the action is triggered

Also, can Gnoliath please roll initiative, as well as a Strength check.
Initative 5

Zene and Willi are up!
(it's actually to break the chains bounding you Gnoliath, so I think it'd just be the 11, but that will succeed, so it's all good either way.)
Zene, hearing the commotion in the other passageway, quickly dashes over toward the others to see what is going on.
Zene, please make an Athletics check, with advantage because Naltic would be helping, to climb up the steep embankment of that passageway to get to the others.
Athletic check: 19

I charge as fast i can hoping to surprise the Leader and dig my newly found short sword into his back

Time for a fair fight green boy
Willi will follow zene and post up right behind.
Olloray Dim - Limbo's Pit
Gunther Korroden - Nightmares in the Mist
