Onyx remained silent, but struggled to keep his face blank. He glanced over at Arbon, their only healer, as if to see what he would do. To his mind, it made sense to bandage every wound before proceeding, but then, HE wasn't the healer. Plus, at the rate this crew acquired new wounds, there was a good chance they'd never really make any progress if they kept stopping for them; he'd completely understand if the cleric just decided to patch up their ally later.
Giving the man time to think, Onyx took his torch and examined the rock cavern. "It's short, but we can get out here," he announced somewhat needlessly.
(( Perception Check to spot anything within or beyond the small cavern: 9 ))
Arbon looks around as they get to the bottom, seeing the small light at the end of the tunnel. Hearing the tiefling's cries, he turns to look at him. "Are you alright, my friend? That was a nasty fall," then looking around at the group, "Does anyone require any healing, other than our dark friend here? Or shall we head towards that light before resting a while? This is certainly a bizarre place."
Grahl will poke the pile of flesh that came crashing down after Marchosias with his axe, making sure its dead.
Looking up back in the hole to see if there are others following them. He will then turn around as Onyx is checking out the cavern and walk towards him.
Grunting a bit at the small passage he crouches as far as needed and slowly moves through hoping to find a higher ceiling soon.
"Huh. A bit more of a squeeze than I expected," said Onyx nervously as he followed behind Grahl. "Only heading to the light for now," he yelled back to Arbon. "Let us know if something shows up before you're finished healing!"
As you all mutter about after the encounter, considering the prospective hallway or tending to the Blood Hunter's wounds, his gaze does not leave the creature. Marchosias stands, grabs the weapon that inflicted such heinous damage to his back, and began to strike at the ground underneath the fleshy pulp, violently sending chunks of pale-tan flesh about the room. Grahl having to move back towards the wall in order to avoid his strikes.
You all regard this with a bit of concern as he's been nothing but rational since you've met him. A little bit of revenge stomping is fine, but he's really trying to hurt something that's literally splattered all over the floor. It borders on disturbing as the hits seems to be picking up in strength rather than reducing, and the tips of the weapon are cracking and shattering on the floor. Before long, even the handle splits in his grip, and he leaps forward striking out with his new weapon.
The blade connects with abit of the flesh and a shockwave sends everyone back towards opening with Marchosias being flung violently to the ground. The flesh pulls together from across the room, quickly slinking and pooling its way into a coagulated hulking mass, and then flash boiling down to a black liquid that once again rises into a Black Pudding. It attacks Marchosias on the ground!
He leaps back, his flesh transforming mid jump, landing to reveal his true nature as the monster who crushed the door handle in your vision. He threw his rapier like a spear, the ooze absorbing the blade with sick plopping sound.
It slunk forward, and his werewolf claw slid easily through its frontal lobe. As it exited, however, it left without any flesh or muscle on the hand, the bones falling with a clacking sound to the floor, the stump of a forearm steaming with acidic burns.
He fell screaming, grasping at his forearm, trying to crawl away from the impending death, as the Ooze covered his body, he let out a terrified and agonizing scream-howl as he struck back in frenzy with his other claw.
Then, his chest was covered and the scream was replaced by a muffled gurgling, ending in the tell tale pop of boiling liquid.
In the moments after, the ooze just stood over him, unmoving. You all manage to regain your composure, and look at it in its full scope. Its standing at least two feet higher than the tallest of you, and the light at your feet illuminates the armory of items stashed inside its gelatinous form as they begin sparkling.
"Filth!" spat Onyx angrily as he pointed two fingers at the creature and immediately began the incantation of a curse. Eldritch energies then flew from him as his hand switched to an eldritch sign, the purple glow striking the entity with a thunderous clap. He hadn't really planned anything; it was just that the presence of such a dangerous creature, and the death of a companion, drove the warlock to attack without hesitation.
(( He'd normally yell "get back" or something, but Onyx is just focused on trying to kill this thing as quickly as possible. ))
BONUS Action to cast Hex, focusing on the creature's STR ACTION to cast Eldritch Blast at the creature: Attack = 25, Damage = 20
The mighty rage of the warlock energizes the eldtrich magics leaving his hand and they sail across the room with a mighty concussive impact.
The ooze explodes with a mighty display! Gold coins and other shiny things fly across the room, cluttering the ground and creating a cacophony of clanging metal. At the same time, three separate smaller oozes (6 foot high or so) form quickly. The first remains over the former Blood hunter but the second and third are now on a dedicated path to their attacker.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Stepping back further into the crowded cavern, Onyx continued his angry incantation, moving it, and repeating his eldritch assault.
MOVE about fifteen feet further into the cavern BONUS Action to move the Hex to the ooze nearest Onyx, focusing on its STR ACTION to cast another Eldritch Blast, again targeting the nearest ooze; Attack = 17, Damage = 16
Once again the eledtrich energies flash forth from the ether into the ooze closest to Onyx, and once again it explodes with brilliant display! The oil at first distorting and then flying into the air like bursting soap bubbles.
The third increases its efforts to reach him like a snail about to salted. The distance is great, and its movement speed is low.
"Curse you to the lowest layer of hell!" came Onyx's final seething damnation, as he lashed out at the third creature.
MOVE about five feet further into the cavern BONUS Action to move the Hex to the third ooze, again focusing on its STR ACTION to repeat Eldritch Blast, at the third ooze; Attack = 17, Damage = 11
The third ooze explodes, having met the same fate as the other. The final ooze remained in the same spot, still unmoving. Though its brothers have been destroyed, it seems uninterested in vengeance.
(Yes, you are all in the room. Its 150x150, with a 100 foot ceiling. The Shockwave put you all near the small tunnel, which is the North end of the room, about 60 from the rope, leaving another 90 feet till the South Wall passed the rope. The rope is in the dead center East to West, having 75 on each side to the wall. The last ooze is on the western side, which is your right facing South from the Tunnel opening)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Arbon, seeing Marchosias go down and then Onyx send several blasts at the oozes, moves within 60ft and points at the final one and says "Forge's light burns you." With that he casts Sacred Flame (Dex Save DC 13 or 1 radiant).
Arbon's scared flame ignites on the oil like a match tossed on a grill with too much kerosene. The black pudding renders down, sizzling and briefly exploding in the combustion before reducing to a tary puddle.
Then you all see that not only is Marchosias still there but he is undigested! The blood hunter has appeared to sustained no burn marks whatsoever. Upon closer inspection, you see that his claws weren't damaged nor were his arm missing!
An illusion!
Peering around, you can see that even Marchosias's rapier had slid clean through the "ooze" embedding itself in the wall behind it. It is then that the black puddles and stains start to dissapear, and the after effects of several blasts and magics used replacing them with scorch marks on the stone.
As the facade disapates, you see that there is another Maw Demon corpse laying in front of him with a huge chunk of its face missing. It must have survived its fall, and Marchosias knew it did.
Two truths stand out amongst these outlandish revalations. First, Marchosias did sustain heavy battle wounds from above the hole. He's been bleeding long enough that you really aren't sure if he's getting back up as he's literally laying in a pool of his blood.
Second, that even if the demon did survive the fall, how did it keep up the illusion after Marchosias's claw killed it? Furthermore, how did it create a Shockwave hard enough to throw you all sixty feet?
There are no answers to the second problem, merely a rope going up, a tunnel going down, and a hemorrhaging werewolf laying unconscious.
The smell of blood is everywhere as you look over the pale man now free of his beastial form. The eyes, vacant, like the mind behind them is in another place entirely. The slow stunned breathes are that of a dying creature.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Arbon looks around, realising that his eyes have deceived him. He walks over to Marchosias and kneels down next to him. He bows his head, "May Gond's hammer ring out and guide your way home, friend." He then stands up and looks around the room and makes his way to the tunnel entrance and peers down it to see if he can make anything out (Perception: 8 - rolled disadvantage as I'm guessing it's dark).
Among all the oddities, Arbon notices that the warm candle light that was coming from the North side of the tunnel is gone. It wasn't much to begin with, but the other side is now bathed in a pale, almost cold seeming blue light, like that of the moon but in the middle of the day.
That's when, at least Arbon, remembers that if it weren't for all the craziness, it would just be noon on any other day.

"Huh."
Onyx looked around, first eyeing Marchosias, then the dead Maw Demon. "While I'm terribly interested in what just happened here, I must say, I don't like that I was taken in by such an illusion."
He walked over and did his best at helping his bleeding companion.
