"My name is Rathe,"the elf says to Cadence, head quirking slightly at the continued rhyming, but she does not address it. "I do not know where Gert went, other than out of here. I heard he was in a bind from some mutual... friends. I came to get him out. But I was taken. They were not gentle. I can see he was dear to you. Honestly I barely knew him, and I also do not know what these people are doing here. I also do not know where my possessions are."
Her eyes dart around the room, looking to see if there is a place she'd missed from her cell. "I have -- had -- a pack. Does anyone see it?"
She does not wipe away the new blood spattered on her face from her victims, and she now ignores the older wounds on her head and neck.
Nova didn’t flinch or move from Velda’s grip. She’d listen. But she couldn’t find her words fast enough before Fionn spoke up to encourage her to press forward. The half elf would let her hands fall to her sides when Velda would let go. Letting out her breath, and deflating, Nova would close her eyes for a moment before she’d scoop up her backpack that was left as a pillow. Her mismatched eyes would finally move to look over Rathe. She’d start huffing and sniffing.
Does she smell Gert’s scents? Is she able to tell that this strangers claims are true or false? She’d sniff Rathe and eventually make her way around the room when others are done their tasks.
Rathe looks again at the new group, blinking at their obvious emotional processing over... something. They seemed to care for Gert a great deal, but also seemed uncurious about where he went and how she knew him. They've obviously been through a lot and are tired, though they had not been kept captive and beaten, so they've probably had better days than she did. One's sleeping already, and one of them maybe had the sniffles? Odd group.
She shakes her head and walks with the prisoners toward the door, looking for her things, still spattered with blood, still holding a dead man's sword. She turns to the other freed captives, and says, "we were not allowed to talk, but my name is Rathe, and I am happy you are free. How were you taken? What do you know of this place?"
Once Nova was done her sniffing, she’d pad her way to stand protectively by the resting Cadence. She gets her deserved rest. The half-elf would finally address Rathe directly. “I smell him on you. But not in the cells. Nor any indication of where he went.” She’d cross her arms. “What ‘mutual friends’?”

Fionn takes very little time trying the discovered keys of the first guard to fall in this room. You hear the satisfying sound of the first cell door unlocking and quickly make your way to the other day. This one unlocks in the same amount of time the first door took and users a different key. Leaving you to wonder what the third key is for...
Velda’s question lingers in the air and makes all of you ponder its meaning... If Gert isn’t here? ... where could he be?
The three prisoners look at Velda. Eventually one of them speaks up, Introducing herself as, Mirna Dendrar, “We live in Phandalin... my husband, Thel, was killed for speaking up against the Redbrands. Nars, Nilsa, and myself were taken as a result. We heard them saying something about selling us as slaves.” She pauses a moment. Seemingly at a loss for words and overcome with emotion. “I wish we had something to give you for saving us. Though... I may know where something valuable is... or where it used to be at any rate. When I was a young girl, my family and I fled from Thundertree after undead overran the town. We had an herb and alchemy shop, inside was a case containing an emerald necklace that we hid beneath a section of the storage shelves. I haven’t been brave enough to return and retrieve it. Our shop was in the southeast part of Thundertree.” After finishing her tale, Mirna looks around at all of you, hopeful her family heirloom is enough compensation to you for having spared them a life of servitude.
At Rathe’s question, Mirna answers, “All we know is that the leader is a wizard of some sort and he seems to work with tall furry monsters with big ears.”
Once everyone has exhausted all inquires of the Dendrar family, Velda escorts them over the pit and to the double doors that you used to enter the hideout. Leading them to relative safety. Velda returns shortly thereafter to the slave pens. (Feel free to ask any more questions if you would like. As well as any activities you partake in during the short rest with it still counting as a short rest. In my mind the conversation between Nova and Rathe occurs while the freed prisoners are still present at the beginning of the attempted short rest.)

Rathe looks around for her pack and her weapons for a bit and then relents and rests with this new group.
"Smell. Hmm. Interesting. You are more than you appear. He was here, for a brief time I think. I got word of his capture from those friends I mentioned -- and who I will not mention further -- and was able to get him out. But these scoundrels proved too much for me, and I was taken in the process. I would like to see them taken down. What do you know of the Redbrands? How are you involved? Who are you?"
She finally notices the blood on herself and, not having anything to clean herself with, tries to wipe some away. She also attempt to attend to her wounds from the iron collar and the beatings.
Cadence wanders back into the room. Seeing Rathe struggling to wipe the blood away she walks up and leans forward, with a smile, reaches out with a hand and touches Rathe, while muttering an arcane word. The blood seems to fade out of existence. She does this a few times until Rathe is all clean.
"Fionn, for that other key, i found a spot, come see."
She waits for them to get their stuff together and follow....making sure everyone is coming...."Come on everyone, lets go, it'll be fun!"

As you get back to the small walled garden with the door leading into the underground complex, you find Velda, soaked to the bone by the rainfall. She's here by herself, staring into space, a blank expression on her face. As she notices you approach, she slowly turns towards Cadence, still seeming very distant. "How is everyone?"
