Grixeor cannot hold back a worried look as Hallowgazer announces his nature, but it is quickly replaced with a look of resolve at his words and accepts the tome then responds. "Captain....such aid and trust is more than expected, but I must ask more from you." at which point he begins massaging his left hand absently "I have grown up here as well, so even I find it hard to trust the power that is now bound to me, but its urging has guided me here for a reason, and has not done me harm nor forced me to do so, so I must believe that it knew what was going on here and I have a role to play. For that reason I will tell you that there is a ring, a ring with a dark gem filled with swirling shadows I feel is necessary to take...it is connected. I feel that I must take the ring with me......what is the ring and will you allow me to take it?...despite the risk of it being lost." to which he adds pointedly "If you are worried about losing more items it would seem to indicate that you expect us to fail and die down there........and I do not intend to do so"
(Yes, the items and a level up, so all characters should be level 2)
"I understand, Grixeor. I trust in you, so if you feel compelled to take the ring, you may take it. If you are able to survive down there, you will need more for the fights to come. The ring you speak of, I believe is the Ring of Demiplanes. I can't see how it will connect, but I trust that you know, or the power you have knows, how it will be used." He says. (The ring allows you to cast demiplane. When you do, instead of opening a portal or door, you and any creatures or objects of your choice within 30 feet of you travel to the demiplane. You can leave the demiplane as a bonus action or after 8 hours along with any creatures or objects in the demiplane of your choice)

Campaigns: Rod of Nankon, Darkness Reborn, Dungeonverse, Alycron - A Cosmic Horror West Marches (Co-DMing), One-on-Ones
Grixeor nods to the captain "Thank you....let us both hope that trust is warranted" and then walks off to recover the ring, returning a minute or so later, the ring now on his left hand. As he sees the group readying to be off he adds "Well, we are committed now. Let's be off....." Grix will wait for one of the others to take point but will position himself near the front of any marching order.
(Yes, let us establish marching order to head on down to the Old Vaults)
"Watch out down there, friends. The halls are narrow and dark. The undead are everywhere, and they will try to ambush you at every turn. Take care down there. May Nankon smile on you and guide you." Captain Hallowgazer says.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As they enter the Old Vaults, Thorin will keep an eye out for any tracks or more of the goop that might help lead the way (Perception: 22 and/or Survival: 12). He'll keep near the front behind or next to Abzerilan, but near enough to help Trinity since he's said he'd look out for her.
Those with a Perception higher than 10 (and darkvision) and can see a trail of the goop right on the other side of the entrance. The trail goes for about 20 feet, to a crossroads. You can continue straight or go right. The goop continues right for another 5 feet, but beyond that you cannot see anymore of it.

(As in it disappears and no trail remains or it's out of sight range? Does my survival roll indicate anything from the tracks? Size, creature type or anything in identifying our prey?)
The tracks disappear as in they are out of sight range, yes. Should have made that clear, sorry. You Survival roll tells you the creature is Medium. Other than that, you can tell that you prey is not Humanoid or Undead, or anything with human-like feet. It seems that these tracks were made from something dragging along the ground or slapping the ground as it went.
"Whatever it is, it's about the size of a human but isn't human or undead," Thorin whispers to the others, then points in the direction of the trail, "Leads that way. I'm no the most stealthy, but can track it easy enough. Want me ta scout ahead?"
Grix quietly responds - "Stealth might be our biggest asset down here, if the captains warnings are anything to go by.....does anyone else feel confident to scout ahead in darkness, or shall we all just proceed with caution with Thorin providing insight?" (OOC: assuming that we would not want torchlight if at all possible)
OOC: Jumpier - whilst good for roleplay, not knowing each of the PC's character sheets will slow things down...any reason why a campaign hasn't been established and all of us invited to join?
OOC: Do all of the PC's have darkvision....or do we need light or some other light source to guide some of the party? Obviously will impact the ability to be stealthy down here.....at least visibly stealthy anyway.....
Thorin takes a quick swig from his water skin of ale. He will scout out ahead, moving slowly (Stealth: 15), keeping watch for anything in the shadows (Perception: 19, and following the trail (Survival: 22). His axe in hand, ready for anything that comes at him.
Right, sorry all. Kinda been a hectic day for me, being father's day and all. I have created a campaign and I believe the link is all you need to join, so here it is:
As for what happens with Thorin's rolls: You are able to stealthily approach what appears to be the opening to a room on you left after about 50 feet from the rest of the group. You can hear something inside. It also appears that on the other side of the door to this room (opposite you, not in the room), the goop trail resumes.
