Karib leads the party up the stairway, which levels out into a short corridor before descending again onto a familiar landing. To the left is a room shrouded in darkness, while ahead of you the stairs descend again toward the drake nursery.
For Rogram:
OOC: Since it's been awhile, these are the steps that you discovered were trapped on your way up.
OOC: Sounds like Smoke will be moving past this room stealthily, pausing to allow any additional input before I resolve that and advance.
Rogram stops before reaching the steps. He points to his eyes and the step that is trapped and then moves down the steps, jumping over the trapped step.
Rogram navigates the party safely past the chamber to the side, and down the twisting steps that lead back into the drake nursery. When you arrive, you find four kobolds within the room, all standing on the ledge above the large pit. Two are standing near the steps to the gate that leads down below, while two more are only a few feet away from you, dragging a large slab of meat, preparing to toss it down into the pit for the guard drakes within.
The kobolds immediately reach for their weapons when your light floods into the chamber, revealing your presence. The pair nearby drop the slab of meat and rush toward Karib and Rogram. Their daggers are slow and ineffective, but the sudden rush opens gaps in the pair's defenses for the remaining kobolds, who sling stones toward them from the far side of the cavern.
Round 1 Order: Kobolds Players <=====
Placement: All combatants are within movement range. Karib is engaged in melee combat with one kobold. Rogram is engaged in melee combat with one kobold. Two kobolds are at the far end of the chamber, wielding slings.
Health: Smoke is badly wounded. Karib is wounded. Rogram is lightly wounded. Yevele is lightly wounded.
Karib laughs, "Aye, But our new friend did want fresh food, eh?"
As he speaks flames erupt at the feet of the kobolds next to him as his staff once more takes on a more malevolent look.
DC 14 Dex save or take 3 damage; if enter square, or in fire at end of turn, then take another 1d8 damage. He tries to position it to affect both nearby kobolds if at all possible.
Following the others Smoke reaches the end of the stairs to see another battle has erupted. He will quickly pull out of dagger and make sure he is in range to throw it at one of the kobolds to the right.
After his throw he quickly heads back to the stairs, making sure he does not trigger the trap and use the stairway to get some cover from the slinging kobolds.
Movement: getting into 20ft range of kobold, then using the remaining to get back in the stairway for cover Action: Dagger throw to a kobold slinger on the right: Tohit 16, damage 8 (see diceroll thread)
Rogram announces his presence by separating a kobold's head from its shoulders, where it falls into the fire sprung by Karib's magic, filling the chamber with the grotesque scent of burning flesh. The other kobold nearby rolls away from the fire, disengaging from Karib and standing defensively with its dagger held out, backed up against the ledge.
Across the chamber, Yevele's arrow and Smoke's dagger strike the head and neck of their targets, dropping them dead quickly.
Round 2 Order: Kobold Players <=====
Placement: One kobold remains, within movement range, cornered on the ledge.
Health: Smoke is badly wounded. Karib is wounded. Rogram is lightly wounded. Yevele is lightly wounded.
Karib stares at the kobold for a moment, the veins in his head throbbing as he speaks, his voice is almost a growl. "Which was I destined to be fed to, eh? Those..." he points his staff at the drakes, "...or that thing?" he says, nodding back in the direction of the roper.
Drawing back his staff, he strikes the kobold, clearly trying for a non-lethal blow.
Simple oil lamps provide dim, flickering light in the upper part of the chamber. Beyond the ledge is a sharp 10-foot drop-off, but wooden stairs descend toward a gate at the right end of the ledge. A stout cage made of iron bars surrounds these steps to a height of 10 feet.
A rack along the southwest wall on the upper part of the chamber holds a number of implements: long poles with lassos at the end, leashes and collars, sharp prods, mock weapons made of wood, and human-sized dummies stitched out of sailcloth and stuffed with straw, with ridiculous expressions painted on their faces.
The lower area is heavily shadowed. Currently it holds three blue-scaled guard drakes.
A path ahead of you leads toward the stirge's lair, while the stairs behind you lead back toward the dragon shrine and the chamber with the roper.
OOC: Each character has received 25 XP for defeating the kobolds.
Karib stares down at the unconscious form and grunts. Grabbing it by a leg he starts to drag it back the way they came. "Let's feed the monstrosity, then see what's in that last area. Then we can be done with this place. Finally."
OOC: This post has the roper's latest request. It came just after Smoke mentioned the army's food storage. I believe Yevele is referring to this post, when the roper balked at Karib's suggestion to eat the freshly killed kobolds.
Who is dragging the meat? Both the kobold's corpse and the slab of meat they were preparing to toss into the pit weigh enough to be inconvenient, especially for moving stealthily, so the character toting them may be important.
Karib stares down at the unconscious body and then at the meat. He ties the meat over his shoulder then starts to drag the kobold back to the roper, careful to avoid the traps again.
"Let the creature decide if it wants to eat the kobold, or use it to gather food after it wakes."

Using his light, Karib examines the location of the traps, uttering a prayer to Gond as he steps over them.

"The roper already said it won't eat kobolds. Maybe grab the meat that the kobolds were going to feed to the drakes and give it to that thing."
Karib pauses, "I thought it complained about dead meat...or eating it's handlers. This is neither."
In the end he shrugs, "Let's bring 'em both."

(( @DM: The kobold is unconscious, but is the slab of meat the same as stored in the meat locker? ))
OOC: It's about the same size, like a big chunk of meat from a bear or elk or an animal that size.
