Karib, still hauling his prisoner slowly behind, pauses as the light seems to increase. He blinks his eyes and sniffs the air. It might be his imagination, but the air might seem a little fresher, and he allows himself a small hope. He had given his soul over to Gond on so many occasions these last days but now, perhaps, he might live.
Calming himself, he listens for sounds of activity ahead, watching eagerly as his companions move cautiously forward.
Yevele, looks back at the inert form of Mondrath being carried by Karib and then toward the light of the outside world. The monk will move up next to Rogram and whisper "Do you have any magic that hide her from anyone still out in the camp?"
"Sure!" Rogram says brightly. The idea of finally leaving the cave and resuming his search for his father has lifted his spirits considerably. He moves over to the prone form, putting his sword away. He says a quick incantation and lays a hand on Mondrath. The woman immediately disappears from view. The half-dwarf turns his smile on Yevele. "There you go."
Moving a bit more into the center of the large entrance of the caves Smoke takes a deep breath to get some of the fresh air once more. Perhaps the hunters are still outside. Im sure we can check.
Smoke moves a bit ahead to see if its daylight outside, having lost track of time since they were in the cave.
Im sure Leosin and Governor Nighthill will be interested in hearing what we have found. Perhaps Escobert will lead a group to clear what remains in the caves.
Perhaps it's his hopes speaking rather than caution, but Karib nods ans speaks quietly. "Aye, seems clear to me."
He looks down at the now-invisible captive, taking a firm grasp and wishing Rogram had waited on using the spell. He is never-the-less impressed with the lad's new-found powers ... and patience.
The sun is low in the sky, casting deep golden rays into the cavern's entrance. Once your eyes have adjusted, you see the abandoned camp ahead. You do not see any activity around the huts nearest the cave's entrance, and past that, the kobold's huts still lie in a smoldering heap.
Stepping into the fresh air, Karib raises his hand to shade his eyes then covers them with his arm before looking down away from the intensity of the setting sun. "Glory be to Gond," he says. He is tempted to kneel and give a prayer of thanks but is well aware that there is a time an place for everything. Thanks would come, but for now, he needed to ensure that his survival would not be short lived.
When his eyes are well-enough adjusted he takes in the scene. "Are they all gone?" he asks, dumbfounded.
(( Uttering a breief prayer to Gond he looks quickly for any signs of life, animal, or otherwise; Perception: 17 ))
Gripping the prisoner more tightly, he glances at the others. "Shall we...shall we move on?"
He looks around, "I know it is late but, if they are all gone, I'd make my way from this place as far as I can." His voice trembles slightly, and his eyes narrow. "Far, then farther still."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Let's move through here, and keep traveling through dusk. We can look for a place to camp as it gets dark." Yevele says "I can sneak through the camp about 30 feet ahead of everyone to make sure there isn't anyone here."
With that the monk begins to move quietly through the camp. stealth10
As Smoke steps outside he takes in a deep breath of the air, a somewhat improvement with the cave were it not for the burning scent of the smoldering huts. The scent took him back to his memories for a brief second before snapping out of it again as the party discusses the next move.
Smoke moves to Rogram as he hears his voice sound different from normal. Do not worry Rogram, we will continue our search. As a wise man once told me, Sometimes knowing where someone is not can be as important as knowing where they are.
Your father still lives, and we can follow them once we resupply at Greenest.
Not a soul is evident in the outer sections of the camp as Yevele leads the party down the slope and through the burnt piles of wood that were once kobold huts. The first sign of activity comes near the entrance to the walled canyon, when a pair of hunters cross your path, entering the camp on horseback and dragging slain elk behind them. They barely glance in your direction as they pass you by, moving in the direction you've just come from.
You are able to travel a couple of hours into the Greenfields, heading back in the direction of Greenest, before night falls and forces you to set camp. The magic on Frulam Mondath wears off, making her unconscious form visible once again.
OOC: Let's establish a marching order (front, middle, and back ranks - those in the middle can do some light activity if desired as laid out in the PHB) and a watch order now that we are finally traveling again, as well as a chance here for any RP desired here. Once that's all determined and wrapped up we'll advance!
Karib strains a little as he walks. He is happy to go in the middle, still carrying his prisoner who, after a time, will become visible again. "I hope this one's worth it," he says.
Rogram looks at Smoke and, after a heartbeat or two, gives the tabaxi a nod. He suddenly feels very tired. Exiting the cave seems to have drained him of the excitement and energy he felt when he remembered his mother's spells. Returning to Greenest without his father feels like giving up ... no matter what Smoke said. But the half-dwarf doesn't have the energy to argue. He begins rehearsing in his mind what he imagines Dorgol will say to him and how he should respond. Daniel will be understanding, of course, but his uncle felt about family the same as his Pa. He was not going to be happy Rogram was returning without Mathon — alive or dead.
Rogram will not lead, but he is fine in the middle or in back.
Yevele is willing to take the point as the party journeys back to Greenest, and will volunteer to take the last watch each night.
As they make camp, Yevele will say to Rogram "We have a great deal more evidence on the doings of the cult, and, some insight into their plans. I think there is a better chance that the Governor will get us additional aid to help find your Pa. And, our prisoner may have more information to provide us as to where he is being kept. We're not abandoning your Pa, and we will track down his captors and rescue him."
Rogram blinks at Yevele. The stress of the day has him feeling like he weighs a thousand pounds. But the monk's words act like a balm. Though they are soothing, they cause his heart to ache and his eyes to sting. He clears his throat and swipes at his nose with one of his big, hairy hands. Not trusting his voice not to shake, he gives her a hearty nod and a smile of appreciation. He then turns his eyes back to the fire. Visions of an army marching at his side swim through his imagination. Oh, let it be true!
Karib watches the interaction and smiles. They could all do with some time in the light, both literally and figuratively. While he does not know the details of what they have each been through, he could well imagine. He nods at Yevele's remark: for good or ill, the cult wanted Rogram's father alive. At least for now.

For Karib:
You don't hear any signs of activity in the vicinity, only the slight breeze whistling in through the cavern's entrance.

Karib nods with relief, giving the Guidance of Gond to the monk.
