“I will take responsibility for what I have done. [...] If must fall, I will rise each time a better man.” ― Brandon Sanderson, Oathbringer.
A deep voice can be heard "Hold there!" It's a large Half orc man, he's older with a bit of a gut but still some muscle under it. He's wearing a stained tavern keepers apron and he carries a shiny but sturdy looking sailors boarding pike. Standing with his are several other people with various weapons cudgels, meat cleavers and actual swords.. he looks straight at the Aarakocra "you stand right there, don't move or I swear to the hells we'll bash you!"
(Assuming the sleep idea didn't work out and with that woeful attempt to follow the hin, Ankin will try to blend in with the crowd, figuring he can be of more use to the party by neither being incarcerated nor dead)
Broki looks at the half orc and the group of armed individuals and nods in acquiescent. She raises her arms and says "The half orc attacked us first, I did not mean for it to end this way. I had tried to calm the situation and was walking away when the half orc attacked."
One of the other women who was at the is cradling her friends head and sobbing. in a moment a pair of city watchmen enter past Kyrian. one of them a Corporal looks at the tavern keeper quizzically as the other trooper takes in the scene and starts studying faces "What's the problem Ogo?" Ogo replies "There was a tussle and the bird-thing killed tara with it's claws." "and then they started using magic!" says one of the servers holding a short cudgel and pointing at Kyrian"s direction. at that moment the trooper backs away from Kyrian and the Corporal touches his badge "this is Zanik at Lucky pike in river magic use and dead victims I need SWATNow!".
Outside Ankin sees nothing of the Hin woman. Suddenly to his left Jassana says "There she is" and Ankin sees her and he knows shes headed for the docks.
Ankin nods his assent and starts heading to the docks.
Any chance he/they can get ahead of her with city secrets feature?
Feature: City Secrets
You know the secret patterns and flow to cities and can find passages through the urban sprawl that others would miss. When you are not in combat, you (and companions you lead) can travel between any two locations in the city twice as fast as your speed would normally allow.

Sure thing but you know the docks are a busy affair on the river with large boats and smaller fishing boats. you will have to make rolls to find her, where as right now you have her in your sights. but its your call. Short answer is yes, you know a way.
Athelynn's eyes widen. "Oh dear. I must fix this."She steps around Kyrian and holds up her hands."My apologies good sirs, there is no magical threat here. I am Athelynn, ward of Lord Hasir. The half orc woman swung at me and I cast an illusion on instinct to protect myself. I did not try to harm anyone."

You Keep Using That Word, I Do Not Think It Means What You Think It Means
As they both follow the hin woman towards the docks Jassana says, “I’m a lot quicker on my feet than she is. I can easily catch up to her before she reaches the docks if that’s where she’s actually going. She could just as easily stop at a location that’s anywhere between here and there, though. I assume you can keep up with her if we just want to follow from this distance, but can you catch her? I‘d rather grab her off the street now if we can. Even if we follow her to some location at a distance, one she goes inside, she can easily slip away before we get there and find her. What do you think, Ankin?”
Broki nods in agreement with Athelynn, keeping her hands still held high in surrender and adds "What she says is true, one of my companions was having a disagreement with the half-orc so I went over and drew him away to diffuse the situation. As we started away I heard the half-orc yelling at this young noble lady to which she did not react and then the half-orc attacked and swung at her." Broki takes a breathe before continuing "I have had a lot of experience with half-orcs and their kin and know first hand the strength of their fists." Again she pauses before continuing "so I acted to protect the noble lady, but it seems I was overzealous in my defence. I only meant to shock the half-orc enough to stop the altercation in it's tracks. Sadly I severely underestimated the strength of my response resulting in the tragedy you see before you."
"Thats a Lie!" the other woman holding Tara says through tears. "we came in for a few drinks after work. we were having fun" She says "Then those people came over and started asking about somebody else. Tara said she dont know them. but they kept bugging her. Tara was drinking yeah but they were annoying her Tara took a swing and slipped while turning she hit Nobody! then that damn vulture came outta nowhere and sliced her throat! and the other one started casting spells! " at this several people in the room nodded and a "few sure did" and "it is known".
A few moments later the doors open wide and several Watchmen, armored and with heavy crossbows nocked and at the ready enter with severak watchmen with partisans. also three women and one man enter. One woman has a glowing Mace and a medallion of St. Cuthbert, the other two carry wands and appear to be scanning the room. the man talks briefly to the corporal he turns and looks at Broki "Bind him". he turns to Athelynn "Milady I must ask for your sword and you and your companion " he glances at the Eladrin "must come with us."

Chaotic good, but Broki has a special hatred of orcs (favoured enemy)

Athelynn stands there a little awestruck at witnessing a violent death for the first time. She doesn't answer Kyrian.

Kyrian grabs her arm and follows the crowd, towing the dumbstruck noble behind him.

Kyrian reluctantly stops, but maneuvers so that Athelynn is behind him. after all she had nothing to do with this.
