”Surely in the vastness of these lands there’s hapless unintelligent creatures upon which you may feast? Or perhaps you would be willing to accept our aid in reclaiming your home?” Scott the stops and waits anxiously for the creatures reply.
Mr.Dark lowers his weapon as the exchange begins. He looks a little more relaxed and settles into a non-threatening pose....but he's aware of this type of creature, he'd met them with this squad once and lost good men. He's ready to raise his crossbow and start firing at the first attempt at aggression. He glances at Scott....he certainly has some hutzpah.
Out loud he adds, "This Manticore would certainly like a bit of food. It's always easier to think on a full stomach. Maybe we can go hunt a deer for it while Scott discusses how to solve it's other worldly problems?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The manticore would 'hmph' once more when the man would continue. There was such thing as over flattery. He was laying it on thick and started to get a little too sweet for her tastes. But that didn't mean he wasn't useful. Although she slipped a bit of eye rolling at the mind of saving two damsels, they did make eye contact with him at the mention of hapless and unintelligent creatures. A wry smile would grow on her lips and a purr would begin to rumble in her throat at the mention of feast. Then one by one her eyes would fall over each of you again, studying.
With a change of demeanor, the lioness like creature would cast a now bored glance at the woman in the window. Her tail would flick playfully. Turning her head back to you, she'd take a few prowling steps forward. "Fine." Abruptly, her wings would flare, casting a large shadow as she'd raise her chin high and look down on you. "You have until the dead of night to secure enough fresh provisions." Powerful muscular legs push off the ground and with a flex of her wings, she'd take to the air and with each flap, wind would rush around you. "Equal to the weight of at least three of you." The manticore's tail would rear back, then with a sharp flick three spikes are sent whistling through the air. They pierce the ground with threatening force at the feet of:
"Or I will come take what satisfies me, without interruption." With that, the manticore would rise further into the skies and fly eastwards to the forest, leaving you with your choice.
”I guess let’s go hunting. Or...” he waits until the creature is well out of ear shot. “we can just grab her and leave. What are the odds or running into the creature again? Right? Or an we can wait here in ambush for it to come back?”
Mr.Dark hangs his crossbow back on his belt and shakes his head, "We shall try to keep our end of the bargain." His tone doesn't imply its up for discussion to him.
He looks around, "Alright, who is good at hunting then? If we try and fail, then we shall fight the beast, but Scott's surprising negotiation may avoid that unpleasantness."
If no one steps up, he'll try his best.

He says, “‘Twas well done, valorous companion Scott, but thine conciliatory mien leaves this unexpectedly intelligent creature alive and capable of harassing another innocent homeowner. Hast thou any assurance that, once satiated, this creature may be prevented from accosting another?”
Scott looks a bit sheepish at this remark from Auric. “I hadn’t considered that. I was trying to enlist its aid in attacking this dragon that’s moved in to the area.”
The sound of the manticore's flight would fade out in the distance and silence would fall on the group. Scott would be the first to break the silence with a fair range of potential ideas to the solution presented to them. He'd engage the group in a thoughtful discussion with Mr. Dark ensuring the effort to try to keep their end of the deal being a priority on that list. As Auric would add, there were a few variables to consider for sure. But it was Kaemgen who'd focus on the details of the information available to them and make the suggestion to extend their investigation to include the woman they came here to see in the first place.
Knock. Knock. Who's there?
Kaemgen would eventually hear footsteps descend down some stairs inside. There would be some shuffling and dragging sounds like furniture being moved. Then the sound of a lock. The door would slowly open. Kaemgen's eyes would meet the deep brown hues of a mid-aged brunette with tan skin that must be from working the land on the top of the hill in the sun. The scent of fresh herbs cling to her. "And you are?" The human woman naturally held herself tall and strong with a firm expression on her face, though there glinted a hint of curiosity and kindness in her eyes.
Adabra Gwynn (Info & imagery)
She doesn’t take nonsense and will believe things when she sees them. While not seeming the friendliest at a first impression, she goes out of her way to help people in need of rest or healing.
The villagers in Phandalin completely rely on her as the only one with healing capabilities, and she takes the responsibility very seriously. She is often found working deep into the night on making healing supplies so she can provide them to her customers in the morning.
The midwife would look Kaemgen up and down before opening the door fully. She'd then lean forward to peer out and asses the rest of the individuals who this man surrounds himself with. Eyes studied all of you with practiced ease from where she stood. "Visitors without a scratch." She'd comment before crossing her arms and lifting her chin. "So. You've struck a bargain with the beast." Brown hues stared directly at the man that stepped up and shmoozed the Manticore before drifting back to the man that stood before her in the doorway. "What are the parameters, and what are your intentions?" She'd ask with an air of expectation.
"I am Kaemgen McScáth... How you doing?" Kaemgen says, and asks, with a smile. He had somehow thought the screams of panic were coming from a much older woman but is... pleasantly surprised. "Ah, well... I mean obviously you are not having the best of days. Ms... Or Mrs?"
But Kaemgen is easily enough brushed aside as she leans out and casts a discerning eye upon his companions. Kaemgen involuntarily straightens up and puffs out his chest a bit at her inspection and is knocked back a peg by her less than thrilled demeanor regarding the means of her rescue.
"I'm not entirely sure I'd call it a bargain,' he would almost sputter. "There was no shaking of hands or formal agreement... Still, it did at least give a reprieve to the danger you were in and gives us some time to assess the best solution to the problem. The parameters, as you say, if about 500 pounds of food for the beast... Though my intention has not changed from the get go - Dangerous beasts that attack people should be slain. Eaten at a heroes banquet after. And head mounted if taken relatively undamaged... That is the standard, no?"

Mr.Dark glances at the woman but then leans on a nearby wall. He flips his coin in the air, the golden disc sending lances of light shining against the wall and sparkling in people's eyes.
"Aye, a verbal agreement, and we're no highway brigands so we'll be doin what we said we'd do."
He pulls a bolt out of his bandolier and a wet stone and begins scraping its bolt head against it, sharpening it. Without looking up he adds, "Why was the beast at your door? Random chance, or...have you had previous interactions with it?"
He looks over with a side glance as she responds, attempting to judge her answer. Insight : 22
Having just done quite a bit of talking, Scott leaves the task of speaking with the occupant of the windmill to Kaemgen. While he readies his bow and inspects his arrows to go hunting with Mr. Dark.
"Adabra Gwynn." She'd answer unmoved to Kaemgen's introduction. There was even amusement in her eyes when she'd watch the pair behind him sharpen bolts and arrows. "Silvertongues and arrows..." The brunette would muse to herself before listening to the rest of what they had to say
Adabra's eyes flick back to Kaemgen to reassess him after he's corrected his posture.

There was a twitch of a smirk at the corner of her lips that eventually fell by the time he was done. There may have even been the smallest chuff somewhere in there too.

"Why was the beast at your door? Random chance, or...have you had previous interactions with it?"
She'd answer his questions. "Well," Adabra would place a firm hand to push on Kaemgen's chest, guiding him back to make room to for her to step out of her home. "Excuse me, McScáth." She'd stare unblinking at him as she moved him and with her other hand she'd point out the massive bloodstains and spatter in front of the doorway that one of her 'rescuer's had just been standing in.
"Perhaps a series of events," Adabra would turn to look back at the questioner, "Sir." Taking a few strides away, she'd walk passed the 'coin man'. She'd make her way to one of the spikes, taking hold of it with both hands. "This Manticore," The brunette pulls the spike out of the ground. "No." She tosses it aside. "I haven't had any interactions with the beast you made an agreement with." She was being entirely honest. "But I have shared a similar experience." The woman admitted.
After a pause, Adabra would jut her chin in Kaemgen's direction, where the bloodstain was. "My collector arrived yesterday for a second installment." She'd move to the second spike, take a firm grip of it, and frees it from the dirt before tossing it with the other one. "He was dispatched by some passers by." The healer would finally explain the dried aftermath as she strode to the final spike. "My theory is-" She tugs the final spike out of the earth, then gesture with it in 'Coin Man's' direction, "She was his mate." The woman would bring her elbow to her forehead to dab it and catch a breath before dropping it off with the others.
"That's a lot of meat if you plan to keep your word." Adabra's brow would pop as her hands would find her hips. Her head would tilt slightly, "And depending on your beliefs and perspectives, you may be in luck." She'd bend to collect all of the spikes under an arm and begin carrying them back towards her home. The herbalist would brush by Kaemgen to make her way around to a set of cellar doors. She'd lean to open them. "I have a porter on their way to pick this up to deliver it for market sale to Phandalin, but perhaps it could save the trip." Adabra would reveal organized storage of freshly butchered, expertly prepared and neatly packaged raw rations. There was a little over 200lbs of it.
"I can meet you halfway," Brown eyes met those who followed her down. "For a price." She'd add. "Even throw in my assistant to help guide you to top things off." She'd pause. "Or..." Adabra would shrug, placing the three spikes in a tall barrel. "You can try your hand with lady luck."
