((I made a bit of an error with the leveling up and this temple ordeal. It was my intention to have the party level up and long rest immediately after speaking with glowkindle, to start the second adventure. However, the temple thing got me sidetracked. So, to make it easier, I'm going to bend the rules a bit and let's just say that you all leveled up in the brewery over dinner, and can have your new max HP for your second level, whatever it is. Spells recovered included. So it's like you all long rested in the brewery. We will say that the brewery dungeon happened earlier in the morning, and then you all chilled out at the brewery for the day, to get the 8 hours to justify the "long rest".))
((haha I know, right? Apologies again about that.))
Alton, please roll a deception check. (just given your character's background, I assume he's been seen by the authorities at least a handful of times in places around the city that he shouldn't be in over the years.)
The guard then notices Thorvin and Gotur coming out, with Venovar staying back in the temple to cast his spell. The guard says to Thorvin and Gotur:
"Hey! What.. what the hell is this? Why are you all in here? Come out of there, immediately! Or I will call for backup!"
Venovar, your divine sense spell picks up no signs of celestials, fiends or undead.
So the guard sees Alton, Thorvin and Gotur at this moment.
Thorvin will slowly walk toward the guard and Alton with empty hands raised. When he gets to Alton he will place a hand on Alton's shoulder casting guidance and say to the guard: "Sir, my friends and I are here to cause no trouble. It was I that wanted to come to the Temple of Tempus. It was my intention to make a donation to help the brave warriors that have been wounded and now have no means to support themselves. As you can see from the emblem on my shield I am a Cleric of Valkur who was an exarch of Tempus I came here to try do some good and my friends decided to accompany me."
"I am somewhat taken aback by the state of the Temple. Can you please tell me why it is in such a state?"
(Alton you can roll the deception check with advantage, as well as with the guidance d4 added, since Thorvin, who clearly looks genuine, is vouching for you.)
Gotur, you were right, this guard was definitely twitchy.
Thorvin, the guard looks your stout body up and down, and focuses on the shield emblem. You can tell his demeanor and twitchy-ness softens after he sees it.
"Hmmm... by the look of that shield, it would seem you speak the truth. This temple has been destroyed for as long as I can remember... are you not from around here, dwarf? Anyhow, I'm not a history buff, all I know is that it was destroyed years ago by a band of outlaws coming through Neverwinter. Looted the lot of it and then smashed it to bits, as you can see. Lots of death. Nowadays, I see thieves running around these ruins almost every other night, looking for scraps. Pathetic bastards."
"Listen here, if you're looking for a Temple, you got two options. Tyr and Oghma. And don't ask me for directions, I'm not a bloody tour guide. Buy a map or something. And don't come back to these ruins again or I'll have you thrown in the hole for tresspassing. All of you."
The guard then looks at Alton for a few moments, likely for an awkwardly long time. "Hmmm.... I suppose you don't look familiar after all. Stay out of trouble then."
Venovar runs over to Thorvin from the other side of town. "Thorvin, I need your help. I know you are a healer, and my mother is very sick. Her flesh is even starting to rot. Can you help me? I would be forever in your debt."
((Venovar did not end up accompanying the party to the temple. sorry everyone, we’ve just been fleshing out some different things in a PM, so please note retroactively that he did not accompany the party to the temple.))
((If Venovar asks, Gotur will gladly join, but since he asked for Thorvin, and berries are about it when it comes to Gotur's healing, he's not going to insert himself.))

Gotur and Alton, you arrive at the Spring Shoot. It seems like a warm, welcoming place with the majority of the patrons being halflings, gnomes and other diminutive sorts. There is an entertainer playing some catchy folk music on some type of modified lute. Sounds great. You both don't know what Professor Landy looks like, although you remember Glowkindle telling you that she frequents this inn most mornings for breakfast as they serve one of the best morning meals in the city.
Will you get more food and drink, or perhaps speak to the locals, or each other, or just retire for the night in your rooms until morning? Meals are 5sp, rooms are 8sp. This inn has a wide variety of selections, feel free to buy anything under 'Food and Drink' https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/equipment#Expenses
In the meantime, Venovar leads Thorvin back to his mothers house. "Issssss thatt youu dearrrie?"
Venovar, your mom looks the same as before. Thorvin, from your first look, you notice an older elf woman laying on a bed, her gown pulled up to her waist area to reveal her legs which seem to be necrotizing. There is a gaping wound on her ankle. She would've explained that she was bitten by something when she was trying to fish her ring out of the sewers. She didn't see what it was. Any other info will be dependent on Thorvin's medicine check.

Cool?
“Have we met? I don’t exactly remember seeing you anywhere, but I’m sure it’s possible,” Alton will say as he gets up from his relaxed position.

As Thorvin heads outside he call to Alton: "Alton, are you there? It seems this Temple has been abandoned. Lets head back to the inn."
((haha I know, right? Apologies again about that.))
Alton, please roll a deception check. (just given your character's background, I assume he's been seen by the authorities at least a handful of times in places around the city that he shouldn't be in over the years.)

So the guard sees Alton, Thorvin and Gotur at this moment.
(Alton, the deception check likely won't have Thorvin's guidance spell added. Unless Thorvin straight up touches Alton in front of the guard...)
Thorvin will slowly walk toward the guard and Alton with empty hands raised. When he gets to Alton he will place a hand on Alton's shoulder casting guidance and say to the guard: "Sir, my friends and I are here to cause no trouble. (Alton you can roll the deception check with advantage, as well as with the guidance d4 added, since Thorvin, who clearly looks genuine, is vouching for you.)
Gotur keeps quiet towards the back, the guard seems twitchy at being 'outnumbered' and a big half orc drawing attention to himself isn't gonna help.

What next?
Venovar runs over to Thorvin from the other side of town. "Thorvin, I need your help. I know you are a healer, and my mother is very sick. Her flesh is even starting to rot. Can you help me? I would be forever in your debt."
The three teachings of Tyre:

((Venovar did not end up accompanying the party to the temple. sorry everyone, we’ve just been fleshing out some different things in a PM, so please note retroactively that he did not accompany the party to the temple.))
Thorvin will say to Venovar: "Aye, my friend. I will do what I can to help you and your mother. Lead the way."
On his way over ....Thorvin will begin to silently pray to Valkur for his aid to help his friends mother.
“Well, with all that behind us, Gotur, ready to head to the Spring Shoot?”
