Krom chuckles at Rhogar's question about the sending spells and says "That was funny Rhogar, funny indeed. I did not know you had a talent for jokes too." "Thank you for mentioning the deal with the goblins, the Speaker's strange behaviour made me forget that."
With your business seemingly completed in Brerem you make your way back east and then north. Chill is able to backtrack back towards Targos easily enough as a faint trace of your tracks from the day prior can be found. Passing through the town of Targo (unless you wish to stop for some reason) the road curves north towards Termalaine. The road here is clearly marked by the passage of other travelers and so your trip to Termalaine is competed without issue. You do, however, notice that the wind picks up as you get closer to the town.
Termalain is spread out from the shore of Maer Dualdon and bordered on the north and west by tall pines. Its buildings incorporate carvings of wizards, homunculi, tigers, and smiling djinn.
As the day is getting late and you are tired from the travel you ask for directions and are directed to The Eastside, the only inn in town. What looks from the outside like separate houses turns out to be a single structure with rooms connected by underground passages, with cozy guest accommodations in the cellar.
As you head inside you notice a collection of wagons parked along the roadway just south of the pines on the east side of town.
Entering the inn the inn innkeeper introduces herself as Marta Peskryk, a willowy human teenager. After settling down to some tables for a meal as rooms are made ready for you you watch her as she performs her daily chores. Marta sings the following song to herself:
Rhogar is fine with simply passing through Targos as well. Supplies were doing fine, and both Bronze and Psuedodragon were yet eager to be on to the next town... if albeit for different reasons. Once the group eventually arrive at the Inn at Termalaine, Gorrah is quick to reveal a desire to try whatever unique food and booze the town had to offer! Krom more often than not is the victim of her telepathic imagery, as she tries to weedle out any extra scraps from him.
"What a curious song.."Rhogar mentions quietly to the party, and then aloud and with intention of grabbing Marta's attention, "A moment young miss, if you would be so kind?" He requests politely alongside a few slight gestures for her to approach, if not already close at hand. "Apologies for interrupting your work. But, I was curious... where did you hear that one from? And pretell, is there a sort of legend or story tied to it?"

Krom agrees with Chill as the group passes through Targos. The dwarf nods to Gorrah as she sends him images of food and drink "Do not worry, we will eat and drink soon enough." replies as soon as the group starts heading towards to the inn.
Krom notices the wagons parked along the roadway and says quietly to the rest of the group "Maybe we have found that merchant company."
As the party enters the inn, Krom sits down on the first empty chair to rest for a bit. "A curious song indeed" whispers back the dwarf to Rhogar. He then waits for the young lady to reply to the dragonborn's questions before asking her "Sorry lass, tomorrow we may need to resupply, would you be so kind to point us to the right shop? I saw some wagons along the roadway south, is it a merchant caravan?"
Kazri settles in the inn with her companions, and tries to find some water and food for Oli. "Good observation Master Krom. Hopefully we are lucky enough that we found the right caravan." After listening to the song, she quietly asks the party. "I wonder if the song is related somehow to the current weather besieging this region..."

"Indeed it is master dwarf, that be Torg’s caravan. They pulled in a couple nights ago and will likely leave town again with a tenday. They offer quite a few supplies and can generally be visited during the day. At night they are often found at The Blue Clam up by the docks. Its the only tavern in town so it's likely where they'll be found drinking and gambling." Marta answers as she dishes up hot food.
In answer to Rhogar's inquiry "The song? Fifty years ago, a mysterious woman in a fur-lined red cloak stopped here at the Eastside on her way to Lonelywood. Because the woman was alone and frightened, the innkeeper, a pair of retired adventurers who happened to be my grandparent, tried to console her. The woman gave them a ring as payment for their hospitality. Not long afterward, a howling wind burst into the inn and tossed the woman about like a rag doll. My grandparents intervened, giving the woman time to escape. The evil wind battered my grandparents unconscious before resuming its hunt. That was the last anyone saw of the woman. My grandmother made up the song and passed it on to me as well as the ring."
She pulls a chain out from around her neck and shows you the ring. Krom peers at it and immediately recognizes it as very similar to the ring of warmth he got from Chip.
"Thank you for information lass, we will sure to pay a visit to Torg's caravan then." replies Krom "Very interesting story too. I wonder where that woman went and who was her. Did someone tried to search for her in the Lonelywood?"
As the girl shows to the party the ring, Krom says "It's a beautiful ring. It's also very useful in this cold environment. Have you ever tried to put it on?"
Rhogar grimaces at the confirmation about the Torg's, but soon perked up and even leaning in a little out of fascination with the story. Though he waited a moment for Krom to speak his inquiries, the Brtonze cannot help but chime after. "Even retired as they were, your grandparents never lost their fire... If you weren't proud of them before, I hope of speaking aloud the reminder has made you so of them."He comments and gives Marta a toothless smile.
With that said, he quiet's and listens more intently in curiosity for what her answers would be to Krom.

She peers down at the ring. "No not really. I've worn it a few times years ago. I've kept it on this chain ever since." She smiles at the memory of her grandparents. "I was, am, very proud of them. They always helped put those in need."
Krom scratches his beard as he listens Marta's reply. As the girl finishes to speak, the dwarf looks around the inn to be sure that there are no other patrons listening and then speaks to her keeping his tone of voice as low as possible. "That ring has similarities to this ring a friend of mine gave me." Krom shows her the Ring of warmth that Chip gave him "If I'm not mistaken, that ring of yours has similar properties. If you focus and concentrate your will on that ring while wearing it for one hour or so you will find out that this cold weather will not bother you too much. For this cold environment, an item like that is indeed a very precious boon, but also dangerous as someone may mistake it for a blessing of the Frostmaiden and attempt to take it."
Krom gives a big smile to the girl as he adds "You know lass, we are also adventurers like your grandparents and we too try to help those in need. From what we have listened and witnessed since our arrival in this Dale, you folks are having some serious troubles. How are things in this town? Have you seen or heard anything out of the ordinary?"
Rekuberk will sip at his drink slowly, listening quietly to the song as he nods in agreement with Krom. "Yes I wish we all had such a weapon during our battle with the former owner of my new home."
Marta looks a bit squeamish at the mention of the Frostmaiden. "I don't want to be accused of something like that!" She says, concern in her voice. "You are adventurers? You certainly look like it. What are you doing here in Icewind Dale? Besides this horrible winter not much has been happening here in Termalaine. We had some petty thefts several weeks ago but nothing has happened in weeks. Are you trying to stop this winter? Is that why you are here?"
"Humm... Yes miss." Says Kazri solemnly. "We were sent here from a great distance to help with the region's problem. I believe that our ultimate goal is to try to stop this, what looks like, eternal winter. Thus, perhaps your story of this woman in a fur-lined red cloak might help us with our goal. Is there anything else that you are able to add to your story?"

"Yes, indeed we are here to help." Rhogar said, if albeit with a note of hesitation behind his tone, but without looking away from Krom. In fact, ever since he spoke of the properties of the ring, a brow ridge had been raised and a small frown all but become a mainstay of an expression. Fortunately after a while he seemed to remember their meal, and so busily devoured it while the others continued their grilling of Marta.

Krom notices Rhogar's expression, but not being sure how to reply to him, he apologetically smiles at the dragonborn hoping to have time later to clarify his intentions. The dwarf says to the girl "We are trying our best to find the cause behind this winter and to stop it."
Marta sighs, "That is all the story I know. It has been a long time and I've never heard anything else about the woman." She answers Kazri.
Responding to Krom, "I'd like to help but I am no adventurer. Running this inn is enough for me. Would this ring help you solve this endless winter? I would give it to you if it could help. I'm not sure I want to have it if it is tied to the Frostmaiden." The last is said with a hushed tone as she glances around to be sure no one heard her. "Here in Termalaine we can't bring ourselves to give up our people or our food to appease Auril. We give up our warmth and no fires are lit between dusk and dawn. Anyone who dares to light a fire is savagely beaten. This must stop we need to get back to normal. But if I suddenly was unaffected by the cold I could be marked as in league with the Frostmaiden. I can't have that. Take the ring if it will help you."

Ahead of winter’s wind she came—
The lovely woman with no name;
Draped in a fur-lined cloak of red,
To the icy lake she fled;

As sure as night she’s dead.
As the group passes through Targos Chill remarks that he doesn't see any reason to stop as they don't have any unfinished business in the village.
