(OOC: I thought Prentiss had moved up behind Sheyla? If not he will do so this turn)
Taking a pragmatic view that he might be able to get two rotting birds with one icy stone, Prentiss draws a spear of ice from the air and hurls an ice knife at zombie 9, hoping to catch zombie 10 in the blast: Attack: 24 Damage: 10 piercing damage and all creatures within 5ft make a DC13 DEX save or take 6 cold damage
Prentisspulls moisture from the air, forming a ice knife in his hands and launches it at Zombie9 Save attempt 17The Icy javelin strikes the zombie and explodes taking the zombie with it in a gooey mess. Zombie10 happens to lean in just the right direction to avoid the blast.
@Loren
The tent is vacant of any other occupants, but contains a comfortable traveling suite, including a cot, a chair, a writing desk, supplies, and a chest of clothes.
Velshir's move
(Zombie save should have been rolled with a -2 instead of +2 but still making save. Save attempt is for other Zombie. Hit one auto fails.)
Velshir, with an abundance of energy built up from the fight, runs his javelin through the face of the remaining zombie and it collapses to the ground.
As you all look about you realizing that the battle is finally over, the adrenaline dies down and Sheyla releases her concentration. Vines and weeds wither away leaving only the bodies of the many zombies laying about the tower and courtyard near the tent. Hamun Kost's ravaged body beneath several of them. Velshir, Sheyla and Prentiss stand knee deep in the gore, with only Sheyla suffering any damage. The fiery haze about Joshua dissipates in the final calm. Loren is still in the tent. You've all become a coordinated team, trusting in each other's skills. Sheyla facing and defeating the undead as she's always wanted to do. She thinks back to all of her days of nobility and luxury, wondering.
(That's the battle! Great job everyone. Please award yourselves with 125 xp ea.)
Thawing frost drips from Prentiss's hands and jaw as he lets the adrenaline seep out, breathing heavily. He walks over to the half-eaten body of Hamun Kost, patting his friends on the shoulder as he goes, and stands over the body for a while. After a short pause he starts to speak with a wry grin, then stops himself. Instead he says "You sought to control powers that are not our domain. This is the price"
Scales glistening, the sorcerer crouches down to complete the unsightly task of checking the dead necromancer for equipment, clues or coin, leaving the tent to his colleagues.
As you reach the tower where the mass of zombies seems to have been most of the time, you see that there was extensive digging being done by the zombies. Even a casual investigation of the creatures shows that there was extensive damage done to their hands from this work. You cannot determine what they were digging for or to however.
"I know not whether this mage would be seeking something of value or something nefarious and cursed. I've half a mind to advise the village to keep digging here, curious to what they might find, but also half a mind to leave things alone here after all."
"Yeah, gotta be something here that brought him to start with. Something to do with whatever he wanted to ask the banshee about? Speaking of, he had a stash of money and a scroll. A few other odds and ends in here too if anybody wants to take a look. I already checked for traps."
Prentiss will examine the book to see if he understands it, then split the money between them all and take his share. He will also check the 'Odds and ends' that Loren referred to.
A leather bag containing 35 sp, 20 ep, 20 gp, 5 pp, one pearl (100 gp), a potion of healing, a spell scroll in a bone tube. A pile of research notes is found on the desk, it seems he was searching for who built the tower and some history on Netheril, but its a weird sort of short hand that would take some time to work out.
As Velshir wanders about the tent, he spots a shadowy second in the fabric of the exterior. He investigates it and opens a flap clipped closed by a simple fastener to find an ornate book enclosed in a pocket near the cot. It is in extremely good condition.
Prentiss spends some time sorting the coins into five piles: "We're basically getting the equivalent of 16 gold and seven silver each" he says, pocketing his own share and leaving four neat stacks of coins by the bag. "I think Velshir should take the potion as he is usually first into battle, I'm not sure if the scroll is much use to any of us but I am happy to carry it until we meet someone who can turn it to our favour - or convert it to coin"
Bunching up the research notes into a neat pile he tucks them into his pack, saying "These may be of interest to the people of Phandalin, we'll get it to the town master when we return there"
@DM: (I hope it was OK to convert the coins to GP/SP equivalent, just seemed easier for the array of coins on offer)

Scales glistening, the sorcerer crouches down to complete the unsightly task of checking the dead necromancer for equipment, clues or coin, leaving the tent to his colleagues.
Prentiss searches the messy body of the necromancer, but finds nothing of value on him.
Velshir watches Prentiss’ grisly work with a frown.
“So he’s really dead, killed by his own works? I thought maybe it was some wizard’s trick.”
Surverying the area, Velshir wonders, “What was he up to in this place, again? Did we know that?”
Joshua walks around the ruins a bit looking for any signs of what they were up to here.
Investigation: 18
(Nope lol)
As you reach the tower where the mass of zombies seems to have been most of the time, you see that there was extensive digging being done by the zombies. Even a casual investigation of the creatures shows that there was extensive damage done to their hands from this work. You cannot determine what they were digging for or to however.
Prentiss looks at the signs of digging and regrets not packing a shovel. But then, why would he? He'd never done a day of hard work in his life.
"Anyone fancy seeing what they were looking for? Maybe there's a clue in the tent. LOREN! Any journals?"
Loren pops his head out of the tent at just this minute checking on the others.
Velshir muses,
"I know not whether this mage would be seeking something of value or something nefarious and cursed.
“No journal? Pity. Probably safest to leave this place alone for now. Perhaps we can return to investigate once we’ve rescued our dwarven friend.”
"Oh yeah - there was a book. I couldn't make much sense of it, but if someone else wants to give it a go, feel free. It's at his desk."
Prentiss will examine the book to see if he understands it, then split the money between them all and take his share. He will also check the 'Odds and ends' that Loren referred to.

Velshir examines the book. Is it the necromancer's spellbook?
