As Rollo opens the door, Arnnon bursts through and strikes out. He plunges a blade through the back of the neck and the other into the back of the chest at the same time as Rollo's bolt hits home into the other guard's ear canal. Because he made it so swiftly across the room, Arnnon is able to support both bodies to the floor quietly so as not to alert anyone else in the tower.
Rollo waits a few seconds outside listening for any alarm about to be raised. When he hears nothing he crosses the space from the stairs to the building and enters the room with the others. Excellent work friends. Now let’s see if I can lower the chain so we can escape by the river if we need to, then let’s go find the others before Shoalar drops them in hot water.
Rollo looks at the two guards and sees neither have the lank dark hair of the person looking out the window earlier.
Coal sees the device appears easy to operate. From examining the mechanism and his knowledge of machinery, it would only take about 20 seconds or so of turning to raise the gate fully.
Coal also notices a still steaming mug of some sort of tea sitting beside the window where the winch system is situated.
Hushed murmurs circulate as a rear door opens and a stocky, muscular man with short dark bristly hair walks in.
At the west end of the room, below the balcony, a large wooden chair sits behind a wide table littered with papers and discarded plates. The man takes a seat here.
A second table, this one long and furnished with benches, runs down the middle of the hall. Some of the gathered soldiers take seats here, waiting to be fed.
The walls are painted in green and blue, decorated with tattered banners showing nautical designs.
The banners look shoddily made. The nautical designs are disparate and only just about go together. Their tattered state seems to be much more from poor craftsmanship and poor care than the passage of time.

Coal has a up from the warm Tea. Give me a few seconds to lower the chain and then we’ll head for the main hall it’s nearing supper so Merry and Nibor will be most likely in the thick of it with that he activates the winch and lowers the chain across the water way. Once it’s down he will take his maul and smash the mechanism. 25 athletics
The mechanism is thoroughly smashed and would take at least a day of solid work to replace.
Rollo, having returned to the arrow slit, sees the guard with the lank black hair running back around the corner, trying to quickly tie his britches with his knife in one hand.
In the hall, food is brought out by some beleaguered teens and put before the soldiers. Merry and Nibor are each given a bowl of thick meat and grain stew and a hunk of hard bread. One at a time, soldiers head up to the main table to report to the bristly man.

Nibor nods along politely to the guard, having never seen knitting before he seems more fascinated with what exactly the fellow is doing.
Realising his mind has wandered he snaps back to focus on the individual entering the room
Aha, and who is this fine fellow my friend? Your noble leader no doubt? I'm not long in the area so you must forgive my ignorance!
Noticing the banners he ponders on the colours and design. History: 21
Yeah, that's the boss. Must be back from patrolling. Looks after us does the boss. Z'at why you're here? To see him?

Rollo turns to others abs signals “so far so good”
then approaches them and whispers “something isn’t right. I feel we are being watched, or we’ve missed something, or someone”
