“Me, I think I’m literally going to drop dead. Me and Burt can try holding each other up and getting out of here while Eliza takes the girl. I’m sure that old man is misses his daughter “
(Bess shakes her head 'no' when Eliza asks if she's hurt. She clings to Eliza pretty hard.
At Burt's insistence, the party takes a short rest to tend to their numerous wounds. Everyone focuses on stopping any bleeding and resting, feeling much better when all is said and done. You feel ready to move forward. Or backward, as the situation may call for.)
What do you all do?

Using Song of Rest: If you or any friendly creatures who can hear your performance regain hit points at the end of the short rest by spending one or more Hit Dice, each of those creatures regains an extra 1d6 hit points.

Burt sits up at the end of the hour feeling a little better. He sighs, "I am still out of spells, but at least I'll be able to support myself. Let's get out of here and return this poor girl to her father."
As they approach the entrance of the cave again (assuming nothing happens along the way), Burt holds a finger to his lips and gestures that the goblins that he put to sleep outside will be awake now. He points to Drakis and Eliza and slides his finger across his throat to convey the message that they should take the goblins out silently as they are quite effective at dispatching enemies that they surprise. Burt also holds out his arms so that he can carry Bess while Eliza shoots the goblins.

“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
(Satisfied that you've done all you can, you all decide to head back. You tentatively make your way back, past the bridge, past the room with the Goblins and the dead wolf, and slowly go up the stairs, ready to take out the 2 Goblins you all put to sleep earlier. You scout and make ready, but... they're gone. After searching and making sure they're not ready to ambush you all, you hypothesize they must have gone down, seen the carnage, and run off to avoid a similar fate.
You trek briskly, already somewhat familiar with the woods and no longer having to worry about tracking. It is late in the evening, around 8 or 9pm when the party arrives back at the north edge of town near Rickard's property.)
"Bess! My sweet girl!"
(Rickard runs and meets you all outside of his gate just as you clear the woods. He has obviously been waiting near there, hoping to see you all return.
"Papa!" Bess cries, as they run and embrace each other, both shedding tears of joy. The sight of the big, burly Blacksmith crying over having his little girl back brings joy to all of your hearts. After letting them have their moment, Rickard thanks all of you, shakes all of your hands, and bids you all to allow him to take you back to the Tavern so that you may rest.
"They did it! They saved my girl!" Rickard shouts as they enter the busy Tavern. The townspeople are all excited, cheering, clapping you all on the back, congratulating you all and Rickard for getting his daughter back. Willfred shakes all of your hands and offers you all whatever you wish to drink or eat, on the house. Jack the Serving Boy hugs Bess and holds back tears as well. The entire tavern proclaim you heroes and surround you, eager to hear your tales of heroism and how you saved Bess. And, yes, you do get paid. $$$ :)
DMs note: Guys, it was a pleasure, I hope you enjoyed. Now you have a little experience under your belts, go forth, find your long term games and have fun! Thanks for playing!
Burt smiles as the little girl and her father embrace and is quick to sit down and begins spinning stories of the great exploits of Burt and Company. He makes colossal claims about the number of goblin heads that Anarkist has taken. He greatly glorifies Eliza's final blow against that last goblin with its own arrow. He defiantly describes the quick wits and light feet of Drakis who scouted ahead and allowed their plan to succeed. But at the end of the day, he tells a good tale which is all the patrons wanted. As he lays in his bed at the tavern that night and closes his eyes, he is at peace, for they rescued a little girl, and each of their merry band would surely go on to wonderous things that Burt could later write about.
