Then just for reference; Nadariel and I would not struggle with difficult terrain as long as we are in a forest as per the Natural Explorer Feature (posted below for reference).
You are particularly familiar with one type of natural environment and are adept at traveling and surviving in such regions. Choose one type of favored terrain: arctic, coast, desert, forest, grassland, mountain, swamp, or the Underdark. When you make an Intelligence or Wisdom check related to your favored terrain, your proficiency bonus is doubled if you are using a skill that you’re proficient in.
While traveling for an hour or more in your favored terrain, you gain the following benefits:
Difficult terrain doesn’t slow your group’s travel.
Your group can’t become lost except by magical means.
Even when you are engaged in another activity while traveling (such as foraging, navigating, or tracking), you remain alert to danger.
If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.
When you forage, you find twice as much food as you normally would.
While tracking other creatures, you also learn their exact number, their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.
You choose additional favored terrain types at the 6th and 10th levels.
Forest

(The mud is more impeding you than anything, not that it really matters too much. That would be the issue if we were in combat though)
Nadariel/Senenir: Roll a perception check
Jinara/Strafe:
You push yourself onto your feet, inside you hear faintly over the crackling of flames, "Peloth save us, deliver us from this evil!" The window pops and shatters, spraying the ground with shards of glass. The aged thatch roof and wooden siding quickly becoming engulfed. A tower of flames jettisons high into the night, dancing wickedly. From your angle, you only see the one door and window.
From your vantage point, you see the faint glow that seems to bob up and down. As your steps press through the mud, you can hear the sound of chanting just barely over the gusting wind. There is now about a quarter mile between you and the light.
Jinara will pull his sleeve over his hand while running towards the window. Using that arm he will clear out any glass or debris then look inside to understand layout and integrity of the building.
Strafe rushes after Jinara, and after the window is busted out, he yells in his stage voice We are here to help, if you hear my voice let us know where you are at.
You near the window, your face being kissed by the radiant heat of the fire. You manage to discern that the house is a single room dwelling, with a pillar and support beam in the center of the house. Through the flames you see two elderly humans in the far back, cowering near their bed, a shaken voice rings out, "We're towards the back. I think my wife broke her hip, and I can't get her up on my own." You pushed away from the window as the heat gets unbearable. The fire cracks and pops, embers being casted up into the sky and caught by the wind.
Nadariel, are you going to try to sneak closer or just approach?
You see a faint blue hued light which seems to be localized.
Lia/Marcus
Pressing through the rain, you come across a small girl, shivering and crying. Her screams being casted and lost into the torrent of rain and wind. She jumps at your approach, startled, she falls over into the mud. Quinnil kneels beside her, "Where's your family, little one?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
We are a quater mile away, that is around 400m wich is 1200ft. I would say we move qickly till we are within 500 ft, then we sneak. I will cast enhance ability (Dex) on myself. I need to get within 120 ft of whatever there is before i can do anything.
Watching Lia struggle to look around with the wind blowing her hair around, Marcus points at his own very short hair. “You should chop it short like me!” He seems to think he’s being helpful.....
Kneeling down to help the girl up he reassures her, “Hey, don’t worry! We’ll get them back. Just answer Quinnils question.”

Senenir nods at Nadariel and moves to within 500 feet of the light. At that point, he begins to crouch low, and motions for Nadariel to stay back a little and moves 50 feet or so ahead. Then he proceeds at a normal pace, scouting ahead, looking for tracks, and staying stealthed (for the specifics on how my movement works out see the spoiler).
My movement is normal while stealthed if I am scouting ahead as per this section of Natural Explorer:
If you are traveling alone, you can move stealthily at a normal pace.
I can track other creatures while simultaneously being alert to danger as per this section of Natural Explorer:
Even when you are engaged in another activity while traveling (such as foraging, navigating, or tracking), you remain alert to danger.
Ultimately this means that I can move at a normal pace while stealthed, looking for tracks, and be alert to danger.
Survival (looking for tracks): 20
Just a Note (While tracking other creatures, you also learn their exact number, their sizes, and how long ago they passed through the area.)
Stealth: 26

“The mark of a successful DM is when you have caused more player deaths with doors than dragons, demons, or devils.”
The girl tries to wipe tears from her eyes, mumbling softly, "My parents...They told me to run...some people were coming and took them." Quinnil looks at her, "What's your name? We'll help find your parents." Lia, you glance around, any sign of tracks have been erased by the rain. The girl shivers, "Sendra."
Strafe/Jinara
The house shutters and creaks, the door slamming open with a snap as the old wooden slat snaps. The fire flares up with more oxygen, smoke bellowing forth from the front door in a suffocating blanket. The old man is kneeling beside his wife, comforting her. The pair are old and weathered, their eyes full of a swirling mixture of terror and hope. The fire wraps around the side of the house and up the roof. Make a constitution check to see if you can get through the smoke.
Senenir/Nadariel:
You discern that there is a party of at least five, whom have departed from this spot towards the east, two of which are light footed and the other three are more flat footed, all of which were moving quickly from this spot. Rain runs down your brows, having soaked through your clothing. You feel a surge of magical energy as the light stops, the funnel setting down upon the earth. The wind gusts, thrashing branches violently as the funnel begins to spin. You see the outline of a single figure walking your way. As you hold your breath and sink low, an elf wearing golden robes, embroidered with the sigil of an owl's head, bypasses you.
Marcus looks the little girl in the eyes and says sweetly to her “Sendra, I promise I will find the people that took your parents and tear them limb from limb,” he smiles going in for a hug.
Sendra look at you cautiously, bumping into Lia's legs. She rubs her eyes and whimpers, "I just want my mommy and daddy back, maybe even Geoffy too.We live in a two story house, with a big flower garden...I think its to the east."
Quinnil stands, "I know the house, let's get her to safety first and try to find the others."
