Setting Note: Aasimar are called Nephilim in Q'rath Set, and like Teiflings, they aren't a race, they're an aspect of heritage, so you have a race-identity (usually), and being a Nephilim or Tiefling is a fact of your ancestry. As an example, there's a family of Tiefling gold dragons living above Stonehelm.
Given your backstory, you probably wouldn't have another race identity, unless you appear to have obvious celestial heritage or interpret yourself in a particular light. Some of the people that found you might suggest that you're a half-giant, or have goliath blood or anything along those lines. It's be up to you what your character thinks of that.
I had been pondering that, wasn't sure if it should be Nephilim or just Solar, or what race he would have agreed to be called, Half Giant with Nephilim blood or Goliath with Nephilim blood.
That's part of why we reworked race this way. In addition to creating more options for creating the character you want, it points out the subjectivity of race in the real world as a cultural issue more than a physical reality, by making that the case in the game world.
As a follow on, since I would also want the Giant feat eventually... does that feat have any effect on the size/damage die of weapons used, natural or otherwise?
Also, does it grant you an ASI automatically (as long its str/con) on taking that feat? Wasn't clear with how it was written if it gave you a 'free' ASI, or just allowed you to take an eventual ASI to get to 22 STR/CON.
Hi, sorry for the late one! I’ve been umming and ahhing about applying for a while. I decided to try something new and just go all in on it - will be super happy to work through features and stuff with you as well as figuring out what choices on my part make sense.
Jenaer was the coddled son of the richest family in town. He was cooped up in the manor with his family during the war, bored out of his mind. His father often told him to read to pass the time, “Knowledge is Power”, but he preferred to spend his days in the kitchen despite being warned not to mingle with the staff lest he get paupers disease.
One day while being forced to read, a book did take Jenaers interest. It detailed ancient elven rituals, of consuming ones foes to take on their traits. Silon read all he could on the subject, and when he ran out of books in his family library he decided to try to put what he learned to practise.
That evening, Jenaer’s mother cried into her casserole, as her beloved Mittens had gone missing. She did comment that the meat was particularly tender though.
With the war over, and Jenaer, having spent much of his teens and 20s inside, he decided to leave the comfort of home behind him. He joined a skyships crew as a chef, hoping to discover new foods as they travelled.
Background

Agenda - Find the perfect weapon to take as a trophy
Destiny - Find the perfect meat for an elven “Steak Vartare”

The feet doesn't increase damage, and it only increases the cap for Strength and Constitution, not the score. I should put something in there to address larger weapons though. It probably wouldn't be a direct damage increase, but it might be something like treating weapons with a heavy tag as if they didn't have that tag.

But because we are treated as larger creatures we can use Large Sized weapons right?
Yes a large size creature can use a large weapon. You're right about the heavy tag, that was just off the top of my head. And yes, I think you could count a magic item as a trophy if it's got an explanation.
Hello, sounds fantastic though a bit bittersweet, impelled by a death in the family. I am sorry for your loss.
Here's my idea for a character, with most of the information in the Spoiler. Your Scholar Archetype sounds fun!
Name: Eclipse Faraway Race: Mawn Calling: Rogue Subcalling: Scholar Archetype Feats: 1. Darkvision 2. Keen Senses 3. Parkour 4. Performer - guitar, ukelele, tres, or oud, or lute (and could probably master them all with a bit of practice) 5. Keen Memory
ABILITIES (Standard Array) STR 10 DEX 14 CON 8 INT 13 WIS 12 CHA 15
Backgrounds and Backstory:
Backgrounds: Charlatan (False identity. Actually, three separate lives: performer, scholar, and adventurer)(I fall in and out of love easily, and am always pursuing someone.)(I insinuate myself into people’s lives to prey on their weakness and secure their fortunes.)(Aspiration. I’m determined to make something of myself. )(Bond: I swindled and ruined a person who didn’t deserve it. I seek to atone for my misdeeds but might never be able to forgive myself.)(Flaw: I’m convinced that no one could ever fool me the way I fool others.) Entertainer (singing) I know a story relevant to almost every situation. (Ideal: Creativity. The world is in need of new ideas and bold action.)(Bond: I want to be famous, whatever it takes.)
Backstory Eclipse Faraway is, literally, a rogue. His father had done a kindness to a noble, and when the father & mother perished, the noble took in the son, and Eclipse was raised as a ward. Not to say that the noble was kindhearted. No, the family was political, selfish, arrogant, narcissistic. The boy saw how the wealthy live, and learned fast. He ingratiated himself with them, almost getting himself into the will and pushing out the rightful heirs, while he was still a teenager. This involved some serious deception, and when he was discovered, he ran away, taking a considerable sum, which he spent down to the last copper, within a few months. A Jack-of-all trades, he is an avid reader and remembers everything he reads (Keen Memory feat). He is a compelling storytelling, never forgets a song or a tune, has an excellent ear, and has what it takes to be a world-famous performer. But behind the veneer, he abandons himself as his parents abandoned him when they died. He lives as a swashbuckler, constantly risking death, always in discomfort, and for no good reason. And he can't stop, and won't stop until he proves to the world that he is important and worth showing up for. He has a drug or alcohol problem perhaps, and his body is not as strong as his ambition. Agenda: Perform in three different cities in the next three months. Destiny: To be beloved by the entire world.
Hello, just wanted you to know that I'm following along. I think I'd need to get a better sense of exactly where my character was and the exact surroundings in order to post a first "Destiny," as the one I chose is the entire arc (at least, as the character sees it), rather than a first step. I'd be grateful for your thoughts on that front.
Hi BunniRabbi, sounds like a really interesting Homebrew setting and definitely interested in submitting a character. I'll try and have a character concept up by tomorrow
DandDSince1973> It seems like the character is struggling with a sense of irrelevance. Maybe the way to play that is that there is some sort of prophecy he could think refers to him, and the first Destiny could be something like "Discover the prophecy of _______", with a later one being, "Discover the prophecy refers to me."
So I have a couple character outlines I think might work for the setting but had a couple quick questions before I decided which one to go with:
Are only subclasses from the PHB allowed? One character concept I have fit best with a Kensei Monk.
With the awkward body feat, it read as allowing the possibility of playing a Tiny character, is that true?
Is character advancement similar to a typical campaign outside of how you advance in level?
Also on a separate note, is the Wealth Cleric supposed to get upper level spells (above 5th lvl)? All published subclasses generally do not give spells above 5th level (with a few exceptions).

That makes sense. Is it a "Life is what happens when you're making other plans" kind of thing? Life = Destiny; Other plans = Agenda?
Destiny might have more to do with his Subcalling then. The first Destiny might be visiting Library X, and researching a topic of interest to him: "Exploring Warfare and Violence from a Cross-Cultural Perspective : Introduction to the Special Issue," say (cribbing from the web, but this is exactly how he introduces himself when trying to impress), and the text might refer offhand to a prophecy. Later on he would discover that the prophecy refers to himself.
It occurs to me that the sum of money he spent (mentioned in his background) may have been invested in chartering a ship...

I was originally thinking only the PHB and Q'rath Set options, but we did already have one submission for an artificer that I didn't veto, and I don't suppose there's really an issue with allowing subclasses outside the PHB.
It does allow playing a tiny character. What did you have in mind?
In terms of character advancement, did you mean the speed of advancement or something else?
I actually hadn't noticed that about the other Domains. I'll have to put some thought as to weather or not that's an issue.

Your Destiny may very well interrupt your plans, and I've always thought that Calling and Subcalling could be played as something you don't want as easily as something you did. There's sort of a warrior trope along the lines of "I didn't want to be a killer", and that could as easily apply to an assassin. A warlock could be pressured into their pact, and sorcerers don't really choose to be sorcerers. A lot of other Callings can be chosen under pressure, even if they took long-term effort ("I wanted to study culinary arts, but dad was all like 'I'm a wizard, your granddad was a wizard, your great granddad was a wizard...' ").
He could certainly be the one who owns the ship if you want, since no one else was looking to. I might, for RP purposes, avoid saying you hired the other PCs, unless that's the route others are interested in.

Sounds Good!
Cool! One idea I had evolved into a Rouge (Arcane Trickster) Calling that was a pixie or sprite type of character. Not sure if that would work but I imagined they could've come through from another world/realm/ etc. or inhabited on of the fey/elven realms.
Was thinking more along the lines of after the modified character creation, would each character follow their class' feature progression as normal or would there be other changes to that as well? As for speed of advancement, depending on each character's agenda and destiny, it seems like characters would be leveling up a different speeds. If someone's agenda/ destiny has points that are completed slower than other characters, would they just fall behind (or vice-versa)? Or is the party generally leveling up around the same time?
I had been pondering that, wasn't sure if it should be Nephilim or just Solar, or what race he would have agreed to be called, Half Giant with Nephilim blood or Goliath with Nephilim blood.

Ah, interesting. In this case Bazlachi wouldn't know that he's a Solar, so he would identify as a Nephilim Blooded Half Giant.

Aldrik Reinholdt in Dragon Heist
Daventry in The Candlekeep Mysteries, and her bag
I assumed it didn't grant the free ASI, and that you could get oversized weapons to increase damage done.
If those assumptions are incorrect though I can change it up.

The heavy tag only effects small creatures though, so removing the tag for you being large wouldn’t have any effect if going from medium to large
Gilgin Hardhammer - Mountain Dwarf Cleric (Forge Domain) - Icewind Dale
Petal - Forest Gnome Druid (Circle of the Land - Forest) - Unsung Heroes of Embera
Since we would start with a magic item at level 3, would Jenaer be able to count it as a trophy weapon/armour if I can explain where he got it?

Yes a large size creature can use a large weapon. You're right about the heavy tag, that was just off the top of my head. And yes, I think you could count a magic item as a trophy if it's got an explanation.
Cool thanks, it would just be for the sake of proficiency, probably the wokshield :)
