"Sure. If we want to go up or down anywhere, I've got the rope and spell to do so without having to tie off and leave rope behind.", Kat remarks quietly.

"I agree. Whoever uses this place must have placed that rope ladder back in the entrance - so clearly can't fly or even climb very well. So, it would make sense that they follow this corridor, and don't then randomly start dropping or flying down holes. So let's try and follow that trail. I have a feeling that there must be something suitably exciting at the end of this corridor - otherwise why did they bother making a proper entrance with rope ladder? Lead the way, my friend!"
Following quietly as well, Duncan pulls his sword back out once they are well clear of the bats, risking a bit of light so he can see where he is going.

(What are the black holes on the map? I presume the huge skeletons have not yet spotted us?)
Trying to stay in the shadows and remain undetected (Stealth 12), Gryrig looks with a feeling of dread at the nearest mummified knight. He is trying to find out if they look like they were mummified after a peaceful death (e.g. folded arms), or are they somehow petrified / turned-to-stone mid combat (e.g. showing horror on their face or mid-swing)? Perception 23
Torman whispers to his friends, "Well since the ogre sized skeletons are all on that side of the cave, I could cast a wall of fire to try and keep them there while we dash for the other crevace? If all those knights come to life...." his voice starts wavering a bit as the idea of fighting everything in this room can quickly become a reality, "or we could just turn around, there were a lot of other options!"
"I can drop spikes that hurt them to walk through, but are we sure the other crevasse is where we want to run to? It might be full of more of them, and then we're pinched.", Kat remarks.

Gyrig whispers back: "I'm with Torman. Perhaps we should turn back and see where the the rope ladder goes first. We can always come back here if the other path is no better." (I'm referring to the "another rope-latter leading down at W5 covered in bat guano.")
Azzure hears the findings going forward, whispers "I can turn them if we need to run or escape, but I would prefer other options as well." He turns and looks over his shoulder at the way they came in.

Gryrig whispers: "Right, sound like we're all in agreement. Let's head back to the junction and follow the rope ladder down into the hole. Better get going before those things notice us!"
With that, he turns and starts heading back the way they came

Note each square= 10 feet you couldn't see very far with the lantern shuttered. The knight next to you wares a death mask, flesh colored with onyx gems set for eyes, painted to look like the warrior was when living. Its expression is of a peaceful look. The bodies are various humanoids mummified dressed in chainmail."
Since you're turning back, roll stealth, too avoid being noticed since Gyrig has to use a lantern. DC 8
Though you guys slip afew times and get your back side covered with bat guano
You make it to J9 you see 4 ways you can go.
There is another rope-latter leading down at W5 covered in bat guano.
The cave at 9I drops straight down
The small 4ft tall by five foot wide cave at I6 drops straight down
And the corridor at O9 leads Northeast.

"Um... should we try the corridor (O9)? Seems the least treacherous and gross." Torrin suggests to the rest.

(Using the hooded lantern, with the hood down, Gryrig can't see very far - so he's happy to let someone else [with darkvision] lead the way)
Azzure follows in the dark, headed toward the O9 corridor.

Torman also turns and follows Gryrig back to the juncture of possibilities. Hoping that the guano doesn't make the rope-ladder too slippery...
