With Korrik's approval, Ess wouldn't wait for the others as he kicks open the last door in the east hallway. It slams open just like the other door he kicked. It does not break of the hinges or anything... just slams loudly against the wall.
"Hell ya!"
Ess looks in, and sees another decayed empty bedroom.
"No magic at all this floor. Someone's been here messing around the window. They scraped it up. Maybe looking at the ocean or something?"
He stares out the window then continues,
"Way I figure it, we have two different people here. The person who lived here before that had an odd fascination with hiding things in and around fireplaces, reading boring books and thinking about death. Second person is here setting up magical mouth things to yell at people and who knows what else. First person is long gone and the second is around here somewhere. Sound about right?"
He goes to the last room on the right and searches the fireplace.
"If that's the case, then we also know the second person probably doesn't tend to look in fireplaces. Scrapes from looking at the ocean? Were they standing in the window?"
Ess responds to Ben "Good god man, you used to be a sleuth back in your day bro or something? Because bro... that kinda makes some sense. Question I have now then is who the hell is setting up those mouths?"
Ben, that fireplace in the last room on the right is empty other than a few small spiders.
Ben, there are no marks to indicate that someone has been climbing in.
Korrik, the view is amazing from this window. Best view in the house, or anywhere on this entire rock. You have an amazing view of the sea from here. If one used a spyglass, they'd easily be able to see ships if there were any on the water.
"Yeah, good viewpoint. Anyone watching from here, if they had an eyeglass like Ben suggested, they'd be able to see any ships passing. Probably close enough to Marshswamp to see any coming into or leaving harbor from this side of the coast?"
The glasses like that he'd have seen on ships were either hand held or mounted on bi or tripods. He has a look at the scrapings Ben mentioned to see if they match a bipod's legs.
Investigation: 9
He shrugs, "Let's go check out the other wing."
He'll head to the next room (hopping over the weak part, of course) and pull an Ess and punch the door right next to the lock.
"Maybe the posters were by someone looking to cause trouble for the mouth maker? Be a pretty cost effective way to get a bunch of random strangers to do a job for you... In that case, that makes us the pawns in someone else's game."

Kay yep, you aren't sure if it was a spyglass that made those marks.
Ess says to Ben"I dunno man but honestly it could've been anyone who put that scroll in the chest. Stupid ratty DRG has a lot of slimeballs they were connected with. Anyway, I don't want to talk about them." and he watches Kay punch the door.
It smashes open just like when Ess kicked the other 2 doors, and slams against the wall. It does not break.
Kay and Ben, when you look into the room, it is clear this was the master bedroom. It is now a decayed mess. Some of the floorboards are missing, and there is rubbish scattered around. A tall wooden wardrobe stands against the wall opposite the fireplace, its door closed.
((there is no risk of falling through the floor))
Ben, you give the fireplace a thorough once-over and find nothing other than a few spiders. (did you just assume there was going to be a fireplace in there? Or did I miss a fireplace investigation? If I did, apologies there was nothing in the far right room fireplace!)
Ash has been unusually quiet and thoughtful. While she stands at the crossroads on this floor (where she stands currently on the map), she looks down each way, and as the others head into the next room, she is very quiet and listens... and she raises her nose to the air and sniffs... ((she’s trying to see if she can smell, or see, or hear for any trace of someone still in the house right now (other than the party).)).
((Does the wardrobe look like it's been opened any time recently?))
Investigation: 8
If Korrik notes anything about the wardrobe, he'll mention it, otherwise just comment that it's something they can come back and check, and then move to keep up with the others.
((cool, I just didn't want to miss anything which is bound to happen from time to time!))
Ash, you can't get a sense that there's anyone else in this house, although the mouth magic and the other aura downstairs might lead you to think that there might be someone, or something more to this place. (I would allow a reroll once you all get back to the bottom floor)
Korrik, there are no obvious signs that would indicate if the wardrobe has been opened recently or not. (which might be a sign that it hasn't!)
Ess says "Well fork ya I do, bros!"
*SMASH* the door slams open. Rubbish is scattered around what was once a fine guest bedroom; there is evidence of rodent infestation, and webs hang in the corners. A four-poster bed stands against the wall opposite the fireplace. Its woodwork is worm-ridden, and the curtains that once screened the bed are torn and stained. There is no bed linen, but the bed is mostly intact.
Korrik, in the wardrobe, you find a pair of old, cracked leather boots, and a ragged, stained cloak hanging on a peg. The cloak is tooled with a design of coiling ivy leaves.
Ben, it is clear that people have been using that bed recently in that last room to the west that Ess just opened when you inspect the room. There's some bottles, crumbs, etc. and the bed is intact and looks recently used.

Korrik waited in the hall on that last room. Weak floor doesn't sound like it needs more people on it.
"I don't have a problem with you kicking in this last one!"

"Normally I wouldn't check fireplaces either, hard to blame them. Honestly can't say from just scrapes. Maybe a fixed telescope?"

He looks over the edge of the window to see if maybe they have been climbing in?
Korrik carefully takes a look out the window to see if there's anything worth looking at through a spyglass.

"Mostly just been caught too often and learned from my mistakes."
He looks out the window again the heads back to the hall, carefully, saying,
"I still don't understand why the person still here would make up a poster offering treasure? Unless it was the previous inhabitant? But why?"
He watches as Kay knocks down another door. Then asks Ash,
"You want to get the next one?"
He looks into the new room and investigates if nothing attacks immediately, starting at the fireplace.
