Pulling out the contents, Onyx begins dividing the spoils. He hands one healing potion to Erven, drinks another, sets a third to the side, and stores the remaining two potions in his pack. He also claims the mess kit and alchemist's fire for himself. He goes back to Talion and Sho and sets the chain shirt, brigand's tools, lantern and healing potion down on the table for them to take. He then leans against the wall and starts skimming the book.

Beginning at 1st level, you have significant experience studying, tracking, hunting, and even talking to a certain type of enemy.
Choose a type of favored enemy: aberrations, beasts, celestials, constructs, dragons, elementals, fey, fiends, giants, monstrosities, oozes, plants, or undead. Alternatively, you can select two races of humanoid (such as gnolls and orcs) as favored enemies.
You have advantage on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track your favored enemies, as well as on Intelligence checks to recall information about them.
When you gain this feature, you also learn one language of your choice that is spoken by your favored enemies, if they speak one at all.
You choose one additional favored enemy, as well as an associated language, at 6th and 14th level. As you gain levels, your choices should reflect the types of monsters you have encountered on your adventures.
Undead
Undead are once-living creatures brought to a horrifying state of undeath through the practice of necromantic magic or some unholy curse. Undead include walking corpses, such as vampires and zombies, as well as bodiless spirits, such as ghosts and specters.

Bertolt face palms as they leave him in the darkness, fumbling around to keep up with the rest of them. He will go over to their new spoils and greedily grab the lantern if none show any interest in it. As he catches up he keeps a close watch over the confrontational members of their disorganized rabble of a group.
(( lol... @Bert...if it helps, according to my loot distribution, both you and Sho have lanterns. And there was a Lamp found in the bathrom also allocated to you...so that might mean there's a little extra oil at least. ))
Onyx, you flip through the pages but it's mostly gibberish to you. There is one spell that you recognize, in spite of the unfamiliar shorthand. You can make out a spell for protection from good and evil. The rest is incomprehensible to you - likely a wizard or a mage eye is needed to decipher these markin.
All of this takes time. Talion, since that first ghoul fight in the hallway, it been maybe 3 hours 45. I am assuming some of you are resting for about an hour...
Erven - you learn more about the beautiful cloak you are wearing. It is a deep green colour that seems to shimmer when worn. You learn that it is what adventurers call a cloak of protection - it will make you harder to hit!
Noticing the tension in the air, and the rather sorry state of the group's cleric, Onyx sighs. He makes eye contact with Sho as the man gets to his feet, then digs out a final potion of healing from his bag and hands it directly to him. He crosses his arms, nods his head in resignation, and then grumbles out a series of guttural, barking syllables.
In Abyssal:
"Alright, let's talk,"

Bertolt goes quiet as he seems to be lost in thought over something for the next several minutes. He clears his throat get their attention. "We are all going to sit down and talk. Place your weapons in their sheathes and place your hands on top of your head."
Erven turns his head and looks at Onyx, confused by his actions but very confused by his speech. As he is scratching his head, Bertolt speaks. “What are we going to talk about, Bert?” He focuses in on the scholar, interested to hear his thoughts. Erven eyes Sho and Talion warily.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"Vecna and how from now on all of us will cease being like children. I am quite tired of having to remind some of you that we need each other to survive." Bertolt says as he gives each of them a look.

Sho took the healing potion from Onyx's hand. He looked down at the small vial then at Onyx again. He turns to Talion and Bertolt, “We will be right back.” Before he turns around and starts to lead north towards the worm room, with his light following.
When he and Onyx are away from the group, Sho quietly sets the healing potions he have in his hands onto the table, and finds a seat for himself. He didn’t let the silence draw long, before he starts in the same low, harsh language.
In Abyssal:
“I’m sorry I left you behind.” He says softly, looking at the man in the eyes in seriousness. He sits in a defensive position, leaned forward, with arms across his chest, but he continues. “For ghasts, their paralysis usually don’t last long. Not… on someone like you. I thought. I was mistaken.”
“I should have known.” He brings his hand up, studying it as he thinks back, “When I saw who the ghasts were. I should have considered how they might be different. There is little I can do for paralysis. But I could have done something. Still, the spell I tried to cast didn’t go off. Things would’ve gone differently. I wouldn’t be forced to use the warding spell on myself, and the ghasts would’ve been kept away.”
He looks back at Onyx, “I made the decision based on what I knew at the time. It didn’t go how I had hoped, but it was a decision I made nonetheless. I'm sorry.”
Onyx leans against the wall opposite Sho, still a little unsteady but reluctant to take a casual seat amongst the trail of blood and gore and death in this horrible place.
"It. . . was the right call."
He pauses, considering his next words. A wry smile crosses his face, a little forced, perhaps.
"Talion is a terrible mediator, but I think I understand what he was trying to say," Onyx unclasps one of his gauntlets completely and pulls aside the wraps beneath. Once again, his black scales are present. Smooth, glistening black snake scales. "We all have a little evil inside of us, I think. For me, my faith helped me overcome that. Earlier. . . It was an inopportune time to realize what you worshipped, and I was foolish to not realize it earlier. Can I ask how you came to serve. . . your patron?"
