Bert, you’re good. The doll pouts and screams and the hoists itself up into the fireplace. And disappears from sight, a bit of soot and ash dropping into the fireplace.
Erven keeps running and arrives back at the house, wonders why Mary is outside, he says "Stay here, we will be back in a minute." He keeps running into the house and the room where everyone is located.

Onyx collects himself, embarrassed after essentially tripping over his own greaves, but mostly angry.
"Well, I don't like the looks of that. I didn't think anything from that house was supposed to leave it. Do you think that's Strahd possessing the doll?"

Sho goes to poke around the soot and ash the doll left behind, trying to recall any knowledge he has on haunted dolls. Then he looks around the room again, "...the doll does not want to play anymore. I see."
Erven runs inside and says "Mary was standing outside looking confused, where is the doll?" He has his short swords out. "What the hell happened, I found myself outside of the tavern, I don't know how I ended up there."

"Little f*@#er!" Talion shouts at the doll as it flees.
He stares at the chimney a moment before shrugging, and speaking softly to his companions, "Next time we should bring a net."
He listens to Onyx, and considers a moment before replying, "Doesn't feel like Strahd to me. Maybe another of her victims? But, I suppose it could be a servant." He grins, "We should ask next time we meet."
When Erven gets back he snorts, "Likes to mess with your mind, that thing -- whatever it is. Ran away...again."
@DM: Did it look like we damaged it much, or does it seem it ran away because it was bored?
"Wha..what do you mean?" Erven looks at them confused. "Hey Mary is standing outside, what happened to her? She was clutching that thing! Should we check on her? Where is the blasted doll, up the chimney?" Erven stops and goes to the chimney, looks up through the dark, looking for any sign of the doll, cursing as he goes.

Bertolt moves to retrieve his rapier and then the bolt that had missed the doll, shaking his head as he looked to the chimney where the doll had escaped. "We really should set that thing aflame."
Talion stares at the old man for a moment, "Tried that. Locked it in a box, doused it in holy water, and set fire to it. Next time, we should nab it. Tie it up. Cut bits off."
Mary comes back inside the house and begins to board up the door again. "Shouldn't be out there...shouldn't be out alone...Gertruda! Gertruda! Come here, dear...Oh, Gertruda! Where are you? What have I done? What have I done?" Mary's wails echo through the house and she drops the cross bar heavily to the floor. She fails to support herself and also drops to the floor in the little 10-foot hallway near the entrance.
Sho raises an eyebrow as Mary comes back and cries in distress. He waits for her tantrum to subside before approaching her. He moves the crossbar away from her, and helps her lean against the wall to steady herself. He does not help her get up yet while he kneels beside her, intent eyes watching her hitched breaths. "Ma'am." He asks patiently, with the air of the frosty politeness that he does so well, "Can you tell us about the doll?"
Bertolt nods as he moves to leave the room, his eyes locked on the fireplace as he does so. As he enters the hall but sees Mary on the floor, slowly looking to the others. "I do not think we will be getting much more from her."
"Doll? I-I don't know where it came from." Mary trembles as she looks at you and flinches away from you. She puts her head on her knees, hugging them. Her bloodshot eyes and dangerously thin frame suggest she is in a bad, bad way right now. She begins to moan and sob again. Here is a human being in suffering and pain.
Mary looks at you and repeats what she said before. In her small strained voice she tells you that Gertruda ran away a couple weeks ago and hasn’t returned. She came back to find the door panel removed. She intimates she has done what she could to never allow her to leave the house but, despite all her precautions, she has failed. And there are none around to venture out to find her.
Erven asks “Do you have a drawing of her or some momento of hers? We will look out for her and see what we can find.” If she does bring some item, Erven bends down and calls over Lucky Bear, “Here girl, sniff this, we are going to find her.”

There are some items around, if you look. It's odd to see a skeletal dog try to sniff something but she does. She then tries to rip it from your hand. She thinks you want to play. There isn't much left in Gertruda's room and it doesn't seem like the family was very well-off. Roll a perception check...

Erven, you don't find any trace of the doll in any of the other rooms.
