Irek seems extremely annoyed, “Why does she keep calling me that?” Gesturing towards the letter given by Rahadin.
Ismark shakes his head then looks at you in disbelief “I thought you were taking my brother out of here?!”
@Talion - Onyx gives you a glare, eyes furrowed in dismay at the state of the priest. “There May be some in the church we could spare, though we will need it for actual problems to come, no just for your fanciful fell magicks.”
So now you’re going back to Ismark and Irek’s house? The day is getting lighter by the minute and no townsfolk are around.
Talion 's eyes narrow briefly as he regards Onyx. Great. I collapse unconscious, and he frets over the corrupt priest who hides a vampire in the basement.
He musters a smile and a slight bow, and his gaze lingers on the priest. "Your generosity is noted, and I will gratefully accept whatever you can offer to fulfill the priest's promise. We are, after all, trying to save a worthy youg man from an undeserved fate." His eyes flicker in the direction of Irek.
Turning to Ismark he adds, "If you desire no escort, we can leave when we are finished here, I think." His tone is uncertain, and he glances at his companions.
He grins and in somewhat hushed tones asks his companions, "Other than the vampire in the basement, is there more that needs to be dealt with here?"
Onyx closes his eyes and sighs deeply, “I’m sorry. I feel helpless. That thing was so powerful. Let’s get him inside and get you what you need.” He helps Donavich inside to the bedroom. He gets you your incense. From a room in the church. From below, you hear the screams again, “Fatherrrrrr! I’m hungryyyyy! Please, father!!!!!”
Talion nods, "Powerful, it was. Avoiding it seems the best plan, but I doubt we can." He rubs his ears and nose, remembering the shooting pain and the warmth of his own blood.
He helps Onyx with the priest then accepts the incense gratefully. As he is about to leave, the cries from the basement ring out. He lowers his voice, speaking quietly to Onyx, "Did you want us to do anything about ... that? It's been there for years, Ismark said."
Erven looks at Ismark and says “I thought merely to regroup before we depart for Stanimir and Madame Eva, of course we will get Irek out of here, are you ready to go?” He says, turning to Irek. Erven also looks to Everlie, “Do you have your things, would you be ready to travel with us now, or do you need some time to gather what you need, to prepare? I feel that after the events of this morning that we do need to move quickly.”
After Talion’s interaction with Onyx, Erven says “Onyx you really should explore what is going on in the basement before staying here, it doesn’t seem exactly.. safe here until you have a look down there. I hope you know what I mean… do you wish our help with that? Or do you think you can handle it yourself?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
“Everything I need I have with me. What’s left in my room will likely just collect dust til I return, anyway. You may not have noticed but there’s not much business in rooms to rent in these parts these days. Likely the old woman will just horde my things and try to charge me rent on them later,” Everlie says with a shrug.
Everlie does like around at the screaming from below and tries to gauge the reactions of the room. After others make a few comments he’ll add “This is not the only house in these lands with a secret kept in the dark. One could spend a lifetime trying to expose them all. Dispatching one more or less is unlikely to make much difference until the roots of the problem are yanked out and destroyed…”
"I for one do not know if we should risk going after the son until we know that we can fight him. But if that is the course we are to take then a plan is needed." Bertolt says as he shoves the letter into his pack for the time being, stepping towards the others.
Hearing the wretched and pitiful scream coming from the basement, signalling misery and suffering, Sho examined the source of the sounds calmly for a moment, turning to Talion as father Donavich turned around. His eyes lingered on the warlock's stricken face for a moment, then tilted his shoulders and asked in a low voice, "Don't you need to kill a vampire? "
Talion smiles warmly at the strange priest who has been so silent for so long. "Aye. 'tis true! I've heard it said that such things are an affront to all that is holy." He stares at the door for a time, then grins at noone in particular, musing to himself. "Talion, Vampire Slayer has a nice ring to it, but..." he looks around, seeking insight, "...is it better than Troll-Slayer do you think?"
He draws a breath, trying to gauge his companion's -- and Onyx's -- enthusiasm for such a venture. "If we are to leave, who knows when we will be back, and I'd hate to see dear our friend left in any extra danger."
Erven turns to Onyx as they are all asking him, "Should we help you with the priest's son, Onyx? Do you need our help? What is he.. feeding him?"

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
"If the thing is contained and nobody is in danger from it, why should we worry ourselves with it?" Everlie asks curiously. "If the goal is to go house to house and cleans the town of evils, oddities and grotesqueries of all natures, so be it. It's a life's work, for sure... And surely would bring some comfort to those who remained. I do say they'd just all return in one form or another soon enough, until the demon and her henchman are set to their final rests, but I understand the desire to try..."
Everlie then turns narrows his eyes and turns to Talion. "But if you wish to cleanse whatever makes those moans... Do it to bring quiet and ease, not for the title you could call yourself. If it's a fancy title you want that can be earned with just a bit of imagination, no?"
Talion stares at the warrior for a moment, his brow slightly furrowed. "How long have you been here? We're new here. We have no allies, and a growing list of enemies." He holds up a hand and counts off on his fingers, "Strahd thinks we are play things and just put us through hell, the new guy thinks we are dirt, the people don't trust us, and the town is frightened -- maybe in part because a fine upstanding member of the priesthood is keeping a vampire in basement."
"Where I come from, if I do things for people, they start to trust me more. Then, maybe, they do things for me in return, and in the process, I might find some good allies." He looks around at the now-empty church, then at the door to the basement. "cos, I reckon we're going to need all the allies we can muster."
Onyx lays the priest down in a bed in one of the rooms of the church. As he does, a set of keys on a thin chain fall out of his pockets. Onyx moves to pick them up and Donavich grabs his hand tightly. "I tried my best. I begged our lord to give me the knowledge to save him without destroying him. He was a good boy, with a good heart, swayed by the tongue of that wizard!" He looks up at the ceiling, vacant eyes filling with tears, "Hear me Ismark and Irek." He looks intently at Irek and Ismark, smiling sadly. "Irek, Kolyan would never wish you to know and really, it doesn't matter, but you are not the natural son of Kolyan in the way that you Ismark, are. Kolyan found you near the Pillars at the edge of the Svalich Wood when you were a young girl. He took you into his home and loved you dearly. There is some fell reason that Strahd is attracted to you, young man. She is attracted to all of you in some way, but you Irek, are a different kind. She sees something in you..." Donavich coughs, but continues, "You must take Irek away from here, from from the Castle. The Abbey of Saint Markovia in Krezk would be a good spot - or even Vallaki, behind the fortified walls could be safe. With Kolyan in the ground, Strahd will surely come for the object of her affection. The longer you stay here, the more dangerous it is for everyone..."
Donavich loosens his grip on Onyx' hand and the keys and closes his eyes. "Be careful. I know that thing is not my son. I could not accept it before but I am tired, exhausted, broken." He reaches under his robes and pulls out an amulet on a silver chain. He hands it to Onyx. "Take this and wear it in service of our lord. This is your home now."
Onyx accepts the talisman and puts it on. "So be it. Father, here you will rest until you are recovered." Onyx turns to you all. "We've had our differences in the past but this evil should be addressed, if you are willing. From what Donavich tells me, he feeds Doru small animals to keep him sustained, and he lives down below. Donavich has not been down there in a long time, instead has spent time praying to Lathander for Doru's deliverance."
Onyx maintains he will be able to keep the creature contained until it can be dealt with but acknowledges that mistakes are possible, things are overlooked. He looks in your direction, Talion, nodding. "You speak the truth and were we in our own homelands, I would agree with you. But we all know this place is not normal; the presence of evil here is banal and people do what they can to hang on to any sliver of light they can."
Ismark nods at the priest's words. "Doru was our friend, Donavich like a second father. But as he said, that is not Doru and it is time we all accept it. My brother and I will wait longer if you need to do this now. We will sit with Donavich and comfort him...(whispers) he isn't doing very well. I think this last has truly broken him."
Erven looks at Onyx and nods, looks at everyone present and says “I take no joy in it, but the thing must be done. Onyx, can you accompany us to the basement and help us to set his soul free, he could be buried here under the blessings of Lathander, eased from the undead to the afterlife. You know my feelings about the undead. I would imagine that he is the spawn of a vampire and not a true, fully powerful being like Rahadin… yet. Best to handle him now. Can we drag him up and into the light? What say you all?” He looks around for opinions about the deed.

"Let us put the boy to rest. He has suffered long enough."
