If by some accident of circumstance, or feat of dexterity/strength, he is able to reach his left arm to free air, people see his hand grasping for freedom, before it suddenly just disappears. If it was visible, then observers might also see his ring fall into the water (or walkway)...
Action: Enter refuge... Bonus Action: Sanctuary on Self Movement: Jump up and own, cursing the inequity of the universe, and praying to his master to wreak havoc upon this creature. Free Action: Drink a potion of healing: 5

Talion, make a athletics or acrobatics roll please...
This changes things. Talion, with a dexterity that comes from hard urban survival, you are able to twist and duck out of the way of Lorghoth! You are hurt and bloodied, but not eaten!
Ok, made a mistake there with Talion - sorry about that!
Anyways:
- Onyx is restrained (could still make an action; speed 0; DC12 to break free; vines then count only as rough terrain) - Erven gets to where he is on the map below. Thus, he does not have to do a strength save in any case. (could still make an action) - Sho is on the dais - Lucky Bear is at C11 - Bert is engaged with VB2 - Talion is left to take his action
Talion sees, first-hand, the horrendous power of this creature, and is even more convinced that their plan is the only chance they have. He circles around it, positioning himself between the Thing and the two armored warriors, blocking its way forward. Sometimes you just have to trust your crew.
He turns to gaze balefully at the vines in the north. Arcane energies spring up on his hand and launch at the vines, then, with a last resigned look at Sho, no grin this time, he says "Sho, Help!"
then says, "Someone drag me away from this monstrosity!"
Then more loudly to Bertolt, enunciating every word, for the old man is clearly hard of hearing, “We . need . to . clear . the . north!”
Drink potion: 5 (rolled in outdated earlier action)
Hex: Str
Attack: 13 Damage: 9 + 1 (necrotic) (if that's not hit, I'd like to use inspiration if possible)
Move: H5; h6; h7; (still in range of creature so no AOO)
@DM: See OOC before enacting all this... Of course Talion may not get to Sho, in which case, no problem.
Talion sees, first-hand, the horrendous power of this creature, and is even more convinced that their plan is the only chance they have. He circles around it, then disengages and runs in front of Sho.
Finally in relative safety he glances at the vines (VB1) that drape over the portcullis, knowing the threat they pose to their plan. Remembering the words of Onyx, he takes careful note of the position of the location of the release mechanism.
As he waits in front of the wounded priest, he speaks quietly and urgently to him.
“I don’t call people ‘friend’ lightly, and I don’t want to lose another – so fall back to the damned gate! No more plans for heroic deaths.”
As he speaks, a sense of protection settles over Sho. “Stand your or drag me back, but don’t attack.” he says.
"If the way is clear, drag me with you” he says with a grin, before using some arcane and gutteral sounds.
Then more loudly to Bertolt, enunciating every word, for the old man is clearly hard of hearing, “We need to clear the north!”
Drink potion: 5 (rolled in outdated earlier action)
As he is waiting, Erven shouts “Should we be attacking the cultists? Are they responsible for controlling this creature, are they concentrating on it? Lucky bear, attack the nearest cultist!”
Talion moves in front of the monstrosity, surprising all of you, and then turns his back to it, hands glowing. He fires a bolt at the northernmost vine blight, scoring a big hit. The vine blight (VB1) seems to shrink and shrivel, the smaller vines in the water recede. VB1is no more!
End of Round 1! Round 2!
Lucky Bear hears Erven's shout and turns to the nearest apparition, C12, and moves to bite it. Lucky's snout goes right through the inky blank apparition, which has the consistency of liquid smoke. It breaks a bit but then reforms its shape.
(( Minor point; Talion was intending to be at H7 -- one square east of where you have him -- but still within melee range of Thing. Ignore...I think your position is more consistent with the intent in the description. ))
"Portcullis is open!" Onyx shouts. "Disengage and move."
He continues to stick to the plan, moving 25 feet north. He should end up at just above A6, fifteen feet north of the open portcullis. Once there he turns, raising his longsword and readies an attack should Lhorgoth try to chase him down.
Seeing the ineffective attack and the now open portcullis, Erven shouts to Lucky Bear, “It didn’t work, go upstairs Lucky, run!” He is hoping she will use the rest of her movement to go north through the portcullis.

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Erven considers past experiences and if he has ever encountered anything like Lorgohoth before, knows anything about it. He also considers the shades / shadowy figures of the cultists, (are these shadows, what are they, what is their nature?
