At first Gintarou was quite optimistic about this mission. Why do you need to be afraid of dandelion size enemies, right? But that's until the little insect men started to swing their magical wands. " Wait! What's that! Wait! NOOOOOooooooo!! " Gintarou sighs and looks up at the sky which is now far more higher than before. " Why do you guys not explain first? If you did so I would have told you to at least leave one of us in our original size.So that they can trample on your opponents"
"Hey, what the...!" Mist exclaims as he's hoisted into the air by whale-sized fish (I'm assuming the size hasn't changed). Once he realizes what's going on he starts laughing in childlike delight as he bounces up and down. (I'm imagining them tossing and catching him repeatedly)
"I suppose we're... much lighter now so... your wee fishies can... handle a lot more than... usual!" he calls down to his companions.
If/when he's returned to the ground and catches his breath, he comments, "Having that perspective on things might come in handy while we're like this." He straightens his robe and regains his composure. "Alright, then. Let's get this over with. Lead on, Haulani."
After playing around with Mist in the air with her fish Druquilla places him gently back on the ground nodding with a satisfied smile, "I felt we were lighter, so I wanted to give it a try, happy it seemed to work out. It could definitely come in useful here as you said but I do not think I will be able to carry too many of us at one time."
"Wow. That looks nice. I won't worry about what to talk about in the tavern with you guys. " Gintarou squints his eyes at the super size fish carrying a super small Halfling and flying around. '' Humm, if Druquilla's fish becomes like a whale then maybe… '' On their way to the palace of bug people, the warrior asks the warlock. " Hey, Mist. Can you summon Tuk? If my assumption is right, you now have a invisible giant demon under your command. "
"Hrmph!" Mist responds. "Not entirely sure I like that prospect..." Looking around and ducking slightly, he whispers, "Tukmas...?" and slightly raises his arms to cover his head.
(Im not sure if the fish would stay normal sized or not Ill say that they do, but will not do any more damage, and should you be in a confined space they would shrink to fit, but Tuk would, but would have the personal ability to shrink down again to fit in any confined spaces.)
You travel a few hours before you go over a hill, and once at the top you see where you are heading.
But before we get to what you see at the top of the hill let's explain what you see on your way. Once you leave the beach area you enter into a grassy area, blades of grass nearly twice your height, flowers whose stems are thick enough that you could barely wrap your arms around but could climb up if you had the strength to do so. You skirt around a palm tree at one point and it makes you think more of a cliff face with a lot of hand holds and the like. A butterfly goes over head at one point, and the beat of their wings sends a gust of wind that rocks you a little.
Now back to the city you see once you reach the top of the hill. It looks more like a field of termite mounds surrounded by a massive wall that of course again looks like a termite mound. As you continue to get closer you realize that the taller mounds are reaching well over 10 feet, 12, 13 there is even one that must reach well over 15 feet tall. The tallest and 3 more towers that are all in the tallest 10 towers list all have stained glass windows, who have sunlight hitting and causing a beautiful light display. You reach a gate, or at least what you think is the gate, it is guarded by about a dozen or so guards. Most have a similar build to the larger Oahtu but with different colorations, mud browns, shades of black, a dark yellow, but there are 2 of the smaller ones, one a blueish purple color the other you can tell is painted or tattooed. Lastly is the leader of the guards, she is the same sub set as Haulani, two legs and 4 arms. She is wearing armor made from coconut, her spear head is made of a strange material that you have never seen before. With the guards are 2 large aurochs beetles, these beetles look to you right now to be the size of a large elephant. There is more or less, a small armory on each beetle.
The female Captain of the Guard salutes Haulani and calls the other Oahtu to attention, Haulani salutes back and tells them to relax and have a good shift. This is the moment that you know you are at the gate, not sure how but the gate opens, from the inside out a hole opens large enough for everyone to walk in. And now the amazement grows tenfold. there are about another 10 subsets of the Oahtu, on top of the ones you have seen there are 4 legs and two arms, 2 legs and 2 arms, some with antennas or pincer mandibles others without, you see one who is about 3 to 4 inches long, scurrying along on about a dozen legs on each side, with hands on each leg. You see an Oahtu rideshare, about 30 of them holding eachothers arms and legs forming a huge ball, that is just rolling, you see Oahtu join and leave the ball as it rolls, no stopping, they run over one another and then the one ran over is finding a place in the ball, or one just lets go and the remaining Oahtu grab one to one another.
You reach a building about 12 or so feet tall, the only one you have seen with guards outside of it, this time only 4 guards, all the same set of Oahtu as Haulani, the same order of saluting, calling to attention and Haulani telling them to relax. He enters the tower and you follow behind. Once you are standing in a lobby of some type, there is a stairwell that leads up, and you can see the torch light continuing further and further up. A second stairwell that leads down, should you look in both you would see that the tower goes down just as much as it goes up. In the lobby itself there's a desk with two Oahtu, the first is of the most common smaller statue 4 legs, 4 arms. The other is a subset that you most likely have not seen yet. Somewhere between Haulani's height and the larger Oahtu height, 4 arms and 4 legs, larger mandibles that you have seen on any other. The larger man speaks up with a deeper voice.
"Well Haulani, welcome home, and with guests or..."
"Great days Kaiwi`lii, they are guests, please give them a room within." Haulani looks to you all, "They are allowed to come and go as they please," then fully returns his attention to Kaiwi`lii, "I must go and see Mother and arrange for them to see her first thing tomorrow morning." Haulani turns back to you. "My brother Kaiwi`lii will help you in any way possible."
Unless there's anything you want from Haulani he walks out of the tower. While in the lobby you have seen Oahtus coming in and out of the building, all carrying a weapon, some wearing some form of armor or a shield, and you gather that this is either the city guard or army's barracks.
Is there anything that you are looking to do today before going to see the queen? Would we like to explore the city any?
Mist almost fall backward while looking straight up in the colossal tower. "What in the great, great Greenwold is this place?" he exclaims. Sizing up Kaiwi`lii, an eyebrow arches. "You must be the boss bug around here. Sittin' at the front desk all important like. And look at the size o' yeh!" He crosses him arms and declares "Name's Mis'tuv but folks call me 'Mist' on account o' me prismatic personality! We're here to kills some weeds. Got no idea what's goin' on here but can ye point us in the right direction?"
"No, as Haulani said he will be setting up a meeting betwee you and the queen. Soonest will be tomorrow. Now here yeah I am one of the tops, I am day time commander, and Kam`ela here is my personal assistant, she will show you to a chamber you may use while here in the city. Should you wish to explore Kuloa you are more than welcome to do so." The large Oahtu then turns to Kam`ela "Take Haulani's guests to chamber number 0042." Returning to the group, "Unless you have any other questions for me."
Kam`ela leads you down the stairs, you feel like you have walked for ever, fourty floors to be exact, and even further down the tower goes. Again you see other Oahtu coming and going, you get to the room 0042, and Kam`ela opens the door and gives you all the key. "Let me know if you need anything. And please after setling in go and see the city." At that she leaves you to yourself.
Mist immediately runs in and leaps on the largest bed, claiming it.
"Well... this is... weird," he says from the bed.
"Seems they really want us to get out and explore their fair city. Suppose we could do some urban explorin'. Mayhap catch a show or find a nice coffee shop to read the local news... Anyone need anythin'? Kraven? New daggers? Aubric? A nice book or summat? Ginatrou? A gym maybe? Lalia? Maybe they have a... seashell store...? Dru? Some witchy stuff? I don't know what sea witches like..." He waves dismissively as he jumps back to the floor and stands at the door, waiting for the others.
"Whatever we may want, there's only one way to find out what sort of amenities a place like this has: SHOPPING EPISODE!!!"
At first Gintarou was upset about getting shrunk down. But the warrior's flexible mind adapts his new status pretty quickly. " I'm starting to think that being small isn't so bad. You will never be starving with this size. " Gintarou picks a watermelon sized wild berry and munches it on their way to the palace.
When the party reaches the building, the young man is overwhelmed by the magnificence and magnitude of the castle. He loses his word until Haulani leaves them and lets his brother look after them. Gintarou asks Kam`ela. " I'm quite impressed by your castle. Have no idea why this kingdom isn't known throughout the world. Your Island is one of the most civilized places I've ever seen. To be honest, most countries I visited during my journey aren't even half as sophisticated as you people."
@Mist
" Maybe they want to save the time to explain all the questions we would ask them. Speaking of coffee shop… " Gintarou rubs his stomach and says. " … I'm quite hungry now. Let's have a walk and find what these little people are eating for their dinner. And I'm curious about their weapons. Maybe drop by the weapon shop on my way back."
Kraen looks weirdly at Mist as he summons a dagger into his hand twirling the smoky dagger about and then throwing it into a wall before it disappears, "No need but yes, let us go explore new city, there might be a lot to add to my collection."
Druquilla drops her excess gear in a corner of the room to claim that as her meditative space, "I would not mind exploring this city some, I am also curious about their arms and armor, but mostly about what would happen if we had any of their gear on us as we return to our original size." She turns her attention to the two arcane masters of the group, "What do you think would happen? Would the magic cause it to change size with us or would we possibly be bursting out of any armor we don here?"
(You all can assume with confadence that it would grow with you seeing as your gear shrank when you shrank.)
On your way around the city an Oahtu who’s subspecies is the smallest of the ones that you have seen, browns and tans in color, the back most set of limbs are mostly legs, but the toes look like they can grab on to things, the next back most set of limbs are basic legs, then a set mostly arms, but you have seen some Oahtu use them as legs also, then the a set of arms. He introduces himself as Komiki, and asks for you to teach him a song from your home land, at which point he kicks himself onto the middle two sets of limbs, and starts to rub his rear limbs together, emitting a beautiful sound, after a little bit of trial and error you can start to hear the correct melody and tone of the song. As a thanks for teaching him this new song he gives you a tiny crystal chip worth 5 gp.
You also walk past a giant sports pitch, and there are a few Oahtu yelling
“TONIGHT! THE CITY WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIPS! COME WATCH THE YELLOW WASPS TAKE ON THE UNDERDOG TEAM THE TICKS!”
You find a nice “little” shop named Mana'akau’s Stingers. Mana'akau is a subspecies of Oahtu you have seen a fair number of. 1 set of legs and two sets of arms, a cone shaped head that ends in a long snout like mouth, and two long antennae, some have even had wings, Mana’akau does not have wings. They have all been some kind of bright color flow combinations green to yellow to orange, or orange to red to purple or purple to blue to green, Mana’akau however, is obviously old, his colors are dual and fading, his hands and the tips of his fingers show a fade from white to tan into the dual colors. One of his antennae is half as long as the other, one arm hangs limp at his side and he walks with a limp.
“Wechkum hin, I’m Mana’akau, an hiss is my shop.” (I will not consistently spell the way he speaks, but its a terrible deep combination of a moist nasally voice) I have sent in our group chat the link to what all he has in the shop. The shop is extremely large and has items on display, mostly scrolls, but there are weapons and other magical items, and some mundane items. If you want to try to haggle price on anything RP it, and then roll the appropriate check,(persuasion or intimidation depending on what you say.) along with it roll a d10.
As the party enters the shop Druquilla eyes go to the bow on display, impressed by the craftsmanship of it she moves over to it. As her fingers trace the curves of the bow, she notes the different texture of it compared to the hearty oak bow on her shoulder feeling somewhat softer than the wood. Picking up the bow she also notices it feels a bit lighter before she tests its draw strength. With her testing done Druquilla nods then turns to the shopkeeper about to speak then shuts her mouth and moves towards her diminutive companion before speaking quietly, "Mist I am interested in this bow, think you can use that silver tongue of yours to convince the shop keep to lower the price? You help we with this and I'll try helping you woo Lalia, saw you doing your best back on this ship, so I will put in a good word for you."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kraven will go about the shop looking at everything his eyes going wide and will grab two Potions of healing and pay for them. Then will move to the back of the group and see what items might be near by at his level.
Leaning in to Druquilla he simply responds with "As if I'd need help on that front," and winks as he takes the bow. He makes an exaggerated show of examining it and loudly proclaims, "Course I can lend you some money, love, but I'm glad you came to me because this thing is clearly overpriced. I mean look at it! The coconut hairs are starting to fray right here and there's a tiny crack in the husk at the top. I'm sure it'll be fine for training but definitely not worth 328 gold! From my extensive experience buying and selling exotic weapons, I'd say 164 gold is the absolute maximum anyone should pay for this!"
He approaches Mana'akau and hands him the bow. "Ya see just there?" He points to some random spot on the weapon. "It's clearly seen better days. But what Lovey wants, Lovey gets. Am I right?" He smiles and gently elbows the Oahtu, hoping to inspire some sympathetic comradery.
