He would stay silent during the run in the with Flaming Fist, his hood pulled up, a concealed dagger ready if any violence were to break out. Luckily, none did and he would sheath the weapon before continuing walking with the group.
Ok perfect - so it is the end of day 8. Fast travel was a success! I have moved the flag on the map as well as added a line which shows where the party has been so far.
DAY 9 - 8:30AM
1. Direction = follow the river
2. Speed = normal (as per Phillip's point about not wanting perception reductions when coming up to the camp since you are planning to investigate it)
3. Navigator = not needed on the river
4. Encounter rolls 13 (21) 10 (23) 8 (83)
No encounters on day 9 - perfect timing since the party will be investigating the camp.
Phillip, I will hang on to that first perception roll you've done and will implement once I get the arrival to Camp Righteous post out which will be tomorrow morning.
In game time, the party will arrive at the camp around midday on DAY 9.
You come upon an abandoned riverside camp strewn with wreckage. The tents are moldy and tattered, and all the permanent structures appear to have burned to the ground. Two intact rowboats are tied off to a short dock. East of the camp is a ridge, built into which is an 80-foot-tall stone statue carved to look like a man with a crocodile on his back. Between the statue’s feet is a stone archway leading to a dark tunnel. To the left of the statue is a crude animal pen with a small, panicked bird running around inside it. There are no other signs of life.
Map is updated. Sorry if I have the wrong canoe passengers! Eku is flying for right now, over the water 10 ft.
Lastly, Azaka would've given you this lore and information about this shrine once she sees it. "Ahhh yes. I remember..."
This shrine was built centuries ago by Chultans. Carved into a stony hillside, its entrance lies between the feet of an 80-foot-high stone statue depicting a man carrying a crocodile on his back. Azaka can identify this as a figure from local mythology and recalls the story:
In the early days of the world, Man stood by the banks of a river, frightened. Crocodile raised his head from the water and asked, “What troubles you, cousin Man?”
Man said, “I must cross this river, but I fear to enter the water alone, because it teems with your brethren.”
Crocodile replied, “It’s true, you would not be safe. But I will carry you across the river safely on my back, if you promise to return the favor.” Man agreed, and Crocodile bore him safely across the water.
When they reached the far bank, Man asked, “How can I repay you?” Crocodile replied, “I wish to see the realm of Humans, but I fear to go there alone, because it teems with your brethren. You must carry me on your back across your realm.” Man had been tricked, but a promise is a promise, so he carried Crocodile safely on his back across the entire realm of humans, a journey that lasted many years. He also swore, in his anger, that never again would Men and Crocodiles be friends, and so it has remained to this day.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Phillip spies the row boats and whispers to his friends, “Huh!… Is someone else here?? Uh huh, uh huh?…”. Immediately he adopts a stealthy posture and keeps a low profile, moving slowly and trying to keep low and as hidden as possible. He checks out the boats to see if they have been moored recently (rain in the boat? Weathering on the knots, fresh goods inside? etc)…
Investigation check: 17 (add 4 for perception)
Then he sniffs the air and looks for footprints near and around the boat, or broken grasses, or any signs of recent movement or tracks…
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Evo gets out of the canoe and looks up at the big statue.
"Well. That's different!"
He looks at the boats but isn't that concerned by them, if there are people here it shouldn't be a problem. Things without boats, to his mind, are the problem.
He moves up to get a better look around, using zero sneakiness.
Phillip gets out of the boat and moves in on the scene keeping a low profile and trying to be quiet while on the other side of the beach we have Evo trudging in off the boat, not a care in the world about being stealthy!
Both strategies elicit the same response form the surroundings which is essentially nothing.
Phillip, the rowboats are in tact and empty, and they don't look like they've been used or moved recently. It has been more than a month since the Order of the Gauntlet got ran out of this place, and it seems that it's likely that long that anyone's been here. The only life you can really get a sense of is that small panicked bird in the animal pen.
Evo, you move up and get a better look around. That roll gets you basically all of the following info:
Command Tents These tents seem to be empty except for a few small snakes around.
Soldiers’ Tents All the tents are ruined one way or another. Most have been slashed, and all the canvas is at the point of disintegration from mildew and jungle rot.
Burned-Out Shrine All that remains is a burnt-out ruin. You see a silver symbol which looks like some type of holy symbol hanging by a leather thong from a peg on the shrine wall.
Animal Pens That panicked bird runs about inside the pen.
Latrines There is a dead body down in the southernmost latrine.
Eku would fly up closer to the opening of the shrine and telepathically say to Evo take your time once you get up here. Could still be some live traps. I can hover in first.
Eku would then wait for everyone to come up on the ledge of the shrine after any other investigations of the grounds by anyone else is completed or if anything is further investigated from what Evo has seen.
When it's time, Eku would be offering to head into this shrine first.
Map is updated with what Eku can see from looking into the shrine. It is dark in there so anyone without night vision needs that remedied before entering or you'll only be able to see in a few feet. It seems to be filled with cobwebs.
Azaka is following behind Evo.
Maybe Alton and Gotur are just finishing up with the canoes.
What is next?
(I'll zoom in more on the temple/shrine once we get in.)
Phillip relaxes a little and stands a little straighter, seeing that the boats have been there for a while and the camp seems completely empty and abandoned.
He wanders with the party, towards the entrance to the shrine. Since it seems completely dark inside, he casts light on one of his arrows. Then he nocks it into his bow, ready for any surprises.
He stops at the entrance and takes a good look in, for anything unusual… or for pressure-plates, or dart-holes, etc…
Gotur approaches the pen slowly, making calming sounds. He thinks its a bit odd that if this place got wiped a month ago, that there's still an animal in the pen. There's enough predators in the area that it seems like if lack of food over the last month didn't finish it off, one of them would. Probably able to drink rain from puddles to survive, but still... odd.
Nature: 5 (what kind of bird?) Animal Handling: 17 (calm down and have this really good berry)

Phillip, with the light from your arrow, you get a good sense of the beginning section of this shrine up to the door.
The ceiling here is 23 feet high and draped with cobwebs, and the stone-tiled floor is covered with a thick layer of mud, creepers, and blown-in leaves. However, you can see a trapdoor in the floor. It spans 10ft.
The next section of the shrine also has a 23 feet high ceiling and draped with cobwebs. You notice the wall niches which are usually telling of blade traps and you can actually see the blades in the walls.
The next section of the shrine seems to be some type of puzzle, and it looks broken.
Evo and Gotur head over to the animal pen. Gotur, this animal looks more like a wild animal vs. something that was being kept. I've added a picture of what it looks like in the 'Bestiary' tab. You aren't sure what type it is. Now that you are close to the pen, you can see that it must be a fledgling as it seems not full grown. It does seem to enjoy your presence and takes the berry from you and eats it. It seems to want more.
Phillip calls out to the party and describes the traps… “Traps here! Uh huh, uh huh… …. Look, there!… .. and there!… …hmmm…….”. He could jump a trap door, but doesn’t like the look of the blades. He waits for the others in case they know about traps…
"Yeah. Jungle's a tough place, but it'll have a better shot there than stuck in here. Hey all, we're gonna let this bird out. Watch yourselves in case it's still grumpy."

Alton, with a dagger ready, will begin to wander over to the entrance of the tomb where Philip is. At the sound of possible traps, he produces his set of thieves tools and walks over.
”I can help out with the traps!” Alton calls to Philip. “Just point me to where or how to disable them and I’ll get to work.” The halfling says merrily. Once he arrives, does there seem to be any place or way to disable the traps?
Gotur, good question about the wildshape! You've seen it, but it is not fully grown. I have no idea how wildshape works when the character sees a baby or fledgling of the creature... Do you? If it means you get the full grown version, then it's the axe beak, but if you'd just change into its current state, it would be a smaller version of the full grown one with only 6hp and no effective attacks.
Either way - it continues to eat up the berries and seems quite happy now.
Evo, you find a latch on the pen and open the door. After the bird finishes eating Gotur's berries, it proceeds to leave the pen and then runs off away from the camp, into the jungle.
Evo - you noticed all this from before

Yep, Alton can try and do something about that blade trap. He'll need to get across the pit first and then he can try and jam the blades.
Phillip’slight spell on his arrow lights things quite far ((20ft/40ft bright/dim light)).
And he will hop across the pit trap anyway if Alton wants to work on the blades ((Grung standing long jump of up to 25ft, assuming he sees enough space the other side, before the blades, to land))
(Fast pace sounds good to Alton)
He would stay silent during the run in the with Flaming Fist, his hood pulled up, a concealed dagger ready if any violence were to break out. Luckily, none did and he would sheath the weapon before continuing walking with the group.
