Gotur, you don't find any plants worth harvesting for any purposes, although as you've described, the plants somehow look different and don't seem to get in your way as you move through the jungle on your search.
((it was just easier for me to reveal those new locations on the map when I uncovered all of the undead sections where the faerie has travelled. Yep, the faerie did not say anything else specifically about the new locations. It was part of her game. The guides will for sure provide info about the new locations, along with info about the creatures that the faerie was talking about at camp since you asked them about it.))
Evo, Eku replies about the monkeys "They are just that. Little flying monkeys. A few of them are nothing more than a little nuisance, but a flock of them can sometimes get tricky. It wouldn't surprise me if Nanny has a flock of her own up there."
Azaka responds about the snake people "She must mean the Yuan-ti." Eku also nods her serpentine head in agreement. Azaka and Eku go on, explaining what she knows about them, both with a concerned look.
They are serpent folk devoid of compassion. From remote temples in jungles, swamps, and deserts, the yuan-ti plot to supplant and dominate all other races and to make themselves gods.
The yuan-ti were once humans who thrived in the earliest days of civilization and worshiped serpents as totem animals. They lauded the serpent’s sinuous flexibility, its calculated poise, and its deadly strike. Their advanced philosophy taught the virtue of detachment from emotion and of clear, focused thought.
Yuan-ti culture was among the richest in the mortal world. Their warriors were legendary, their empires always expanding. Yuan-ti temples stood at the centers of ancient metropolises, reaching ever higher in prayer to the gods they longed to emulate. In time, the serpent gods heard those prayers, their sibilant voices responding from the darkness as they told the yuan-ti what they must do. The yuan-ti religion grew more fanatical in its devotion. Cults bound themselves to the worship of the serpent gods and imitated their ways, indulging in cannibalism and humanoid sacrifice. Through foul sorcery, the yuan-ti bred with snakes, utterly sacrificing their humanity to become like the serpent gods in form, as well as in thought and emotion.
They also know that there are different casts of these creatures, and that we should exercise caution if we do in fact meet these creatures in Omu.
"Perhaps Omu is a Yuan-ti temple?"Azaka says.
Eku responds "Nonsense. From what hour friends have told us about the soulmonger and the curse, it has to be more than a band of Yuan-ti that is doing this. Perhaps they are part of it though."
The new locations revealed on the map - Azaka and Eku tell you about them:
Heart of Ubato: is an earthmote — a massive chunk of earth held aloft by magic. It hovers 200 feet above the ground and rotates slowly counterclockwise, completing one revolution every hour. Chultans call it the Heart of Ubtao because the earthmote is vaguely heart-shaped. Chultans who’ve seen the earthmote believe it’s actually the petrified heart of the god Ubtao, and they consider it sacred.
They don't know really anything else about it other than they've heard the magic can’t be dispelled.
Dungrunglung: a grung shrine! Eku and Azaka don't know anything else about it. Neither does Phillip, although perhaps he might be interested in going there sometime. Maybe Phillip has heard of it, but he doesn't know if grungs are occupying that shrine or not.
Wreck of the Star Goddess: all Azaka and Eku know is that it's said to be some crashed flying airship.
Let me know if I missed a new location that I revealed, and also if there are any other locations currently revealed that you want to know about, just ask and Azaka and Eku will tell you what they know.
Once Phillip and Alton are ready to go, I'll kickoff Mbala!
Phillip is in a great mood after meeting the faerie dragon! He feels elated at the realisation that not everything in the jungle is out to get them. With that, he spends the evening in very high spirits, training and practicing with his bow…
He’s been practicing a technique where he pulls two arrows from his quiver instead of one, finding that he can then nock and draw one arrow then quickly fire the other one too, in the same time it took him to fire once before! He practices that until he’s got it down pat.
((Phillip takes another level in Fighter and gains ‘extra attack’ meaning he can attack twice every turn)).
"If the yuan-ti don't practice bringing people back from the brink of death, I suppose they could use the curse to weaken those who do... folks likely to have died and been brought back are adventurers and those rich and powerful enough to afford it, removing them would destabilize the foes of the yuan-ti..."

Eku agrees with Gotur's thoughts on the Yuan-ti and potential motives for them being in Omu as she leads the party towards Mbala.
8:00AM - DAY 14.
The party arrives at Mbala within an hour of starting travel.
A 1,800-foot-high plateau with sheer cliffs rises above heaps of boulders as large as ships. A narrow path is cut into the cliff face and seems to climb all the way to the top. Azaka is very leery about making this climb, but since there is a path she will be able to make it. "I have a feeling this won't be our last quest which involves altitude....sigh" she says.
I have added an image of what Mbala looks like to give you a better idea. The path you can see is on the lower right corner of the map. (Mbala tab) The red circle on that map will be explained further down.
As the party climbs higher above the tree line, you are treated to stunning views of the surrounding wilderness. Through many switchbacks, the path winds across the cliff face for 3 miles before reaching the top. The path width varies but averages 5 feet. Tumbled boulders and tangled roots block the path in many places, but everyone is able to manage without any checks.
About a hundred feet below the lip of the plateau, the path veers directly into a natural cleft in the stone face. Steps are cut into the 15-foot-wide crevice, and scenes of jungle predators, flying lizards, and erupting volcanoes are carved in shallow relief onto the walls in ways that make creative use of the natural shape of the rock. The stone steps emerge onto the top of the plateau beneath a once grand, but now decrepit wooden gateway. The gates that sealed this entrance are rotted away; only their rusted iron hinges and reinforcing bands remain. In their place are heaps of human skulls. Picked clean of all flesh and bleached white by the sun, they grin up at you from the roadway and down from atop towering mounds.
You all make it to the top.
Mbala was once the seat of a small kingdom. Most of the structures are now just crumbling compost heaps demolished by rain, wind, and time. A few stone foundations and overgrown ramps poke up through the debris, indicating this was more than just a simple village.
After the party explores the ruins, they find that the only structure still intact is a lone hut at the edge of a boulder field. The hut is made from thatch and animal hides stretched over the rib cage of an immense reptile. Animal skulls, wind chimes, and totems of feathers and shells rattle in the breeze, and smoke drifts from hut. The red circle on the Mbala map shows the location of this hut.
A creature shuffles slowly around the hut, hunched over in an animal-like posture. You realize it’s a human woman: impossibly old, crippled by arthritis, blinded by cataracts. Her dark face and bald pate are outlined with streaks of yellow clay suggesting the shape of a skull — or perhaps it’s her shriveled flesh creating that illusion.
There are also 7 of those flying monkeys in the trees around the hut, and they seem to be just enjoying themselves in the trees.
It would seem that the woman does not notice Eku and the party as of yet. Same with the monkeys.
Eku whispers to the party "Pu'pu is here. Just up there. That must be her hut. Seems she's created quite the home here among the death and destruction she's caused. She must pay for what she has done to the beautiful people of Mbala."
Ok, so Eku is about to go and confront her.
I've added a map which shows the hut and where everyone is (please see the Pu'pu tab). Please let me know any preparations you might've made in this moment and/or where you might want to be situated when Eku confronts the Nanny. If you're hiding, please roll for it. Or, perhaps someone will confront the hag before Eku does? Either way, let me know what everyone is doing here and then I will post what Eku does next.
Also, if you would've asked any other questions during the walk up to the top, feel free to ask and we will RP them accordingly. Lastly, if there's anything on the Pu'pu map that you want more explanation about, let me know (ie. that hole in the ground is a cistern)
Maps are all updated, and I've also added some new additions to the bottom of the bestiary tab.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((Phillip would like to hide in the tree line for now if he can (stealth check if needed: 12). Somewhere 30ft east of his current location and south maybe 5ft or 10ft. In that biggish tree looking thing just there. As long as that leaves him within 80ft of Nanny)).
Phillip is fine with approaching first or attacking first… he has a slight preference for attacking first… “Hmmm…. I agree, Mr G’Tur sir! Uh huh, uh huh…. Ifffff we want to question her, then we should aim to subdue her fffff-P’irst. Yep yep!…”.
”Maybe knock her out? Hmm?… Either way, hit hard and fffff-P’ast, beffffore we lose the surprise. Uh huh?….”.
As always, he’s pretty chilled out about it, and looks around for other thoughts.
((Once he’s in place he’ll draw his bow and waits, one arrow nocked and another drawn ready))
((OOC: oh, the party maybe haven’t seen this much yet, but he’d be pretty handy up front too, with his sword and shield, if we need more front liners. Let me know. He can always switch it up. He’d respond to any request for support))
"Do we want to question a hag that killed an ate a city? Aye have nothing aye want to know from her...but aye also don't want to kill the wrong woman. Eku, how sure are ye? If ye are totally sure, aye can go forward with ye to end this evil."
((What time of day is it as we are preparing this confrontation?))
Phillip nods seriously to Evo, “Killed and ate a city?… hmm.. ..Uh huh. Good point!… Yep, uh huh!… …”. And then he slowly and deliberately licks the tips of his first two arrows, and narrows his eyes at the hag in the distance…
Alton would slink into the shadows as well, softly padding to within 30-20 feet of the old woman (around that rocky outcropping on the map near F-25). He draws his dagger of venom, and prepares to coat it with its deadly black poison.
Alton is silent, but ready to attack the hag at a moments notice from the rest of the party.
Regarding timing - it took 1 hour to get to Mbala from camp. (9am arrival at base of Mbala). Then, the climb to the plateau of Mbala and finding the hut took approximately 3 hours. So, it is 12 noon when you all are preparing.
12:00PM, DAY 14
Eku slither/flies over to Evo and responds. "I tell the truth. I feel that you know this. I sense you see the good and truth in me from the moment we met."
She then looks to the entire party as she says "This woman... no. This evil abomination must be destroyed. It's the only way. She is solely responsible for the complete and utter annihilation of the people of Mbala. People who I knew. Productive, positive people who always cared for the greater good of Chult. They were taken advantage of in their time of need. You see, a lot of them became ill. Typical jungle diseases, you're all familiar with by now after Camp Vengeance. Anyhow, the Nanny tricked them. Tricked all of them. They were all devoured by the Nanny who was posing as a witch doctor offering her assistance. Then she ate them. Look for yourselves."
If you look at any of the numerous skulls around, they show signs of having been gnawed on.
She then looks back just to Evo. "You have my word. I assure you. This is the hag. There shall be no confrontation. Gotur is right. It will ruin our surprise. I have nothing to say to her until she is on her last breath."
Azaka in all of this is just nodding at her story. "It's true. I've heard the citizens of Mbala's terrible fate as well."
Ok, combat will be initiated by Eku, Evo, Gotur and Azaka acting on the hag.
Phillip and Alton are attempting to hide and moving into position.
The hag will be surprised for round 1 along with all of those monkeys in the trees. I have moved the icons on the map according to where the moment of round 1 takes place. If I have something wrong, let me know.
Alton, you will be unseen in round 1. (success). You're able to pad up close to her near those bushes and that rock and she doesn't see you.
Phillip, you are noticed for round 1. (fail). The hag sees a little grung in the corner of her eye jump around by the treeline as she then focuses on the others who are acting against her.
Phillip shuffles into place. He snaps a twig though, and he’s aware he’s not been as stealthy as he could have been. But he’s got a good position, and he’s ready fast, even if he’s not been as quiet as he’d hoped…
He’s ready to strike as soon as everyone looks ready…
Alton's keen awareness and senses allow him to get the jump first. He has his impressive dagger of venom unsheathed, although the black poison hasn't been applied just yet.
Alton is up! I think Phillip and Evo could also go ahead and queue up their turns. You all could really since they are surprised... and then I can just process accordingly. Feel free to wait as well to see what happens with each turn. Either way is good with me
Seeing Alton prepare his dagger, and the others get in position, Phillip takes this as his cue. He licks his arrow tips, and shoots twice (almost faster than the eye can see) at Nanny Pu’pu…
Grung poison #2: if it hits CON save (DC12) or take 5 (poison damage), and be ‘poisoned’.
If any of his arrows hit, Phillip also marks Nanny Pu’pu as his Favored Foe (concentration for 1 min), and she takes an extra 3 (piercing damage). ((This takes effect only on the first hit per turn)).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
((I love that weapon!)) Alton, you coat the blade as described and remain completely hidden.
Phillip, as the hag tries to figure out what might be happening in the moment, both of your arrows fly through the air towards the her, and they both stick in her chest. She has a confused, surprised and angry look all rolled into one scowl on her face as she grunts. She is able to fend off the poison, however. (-15 total)
Evo, you move forward beside the hag. Her eyes widen as she sees you approach, and then the spirit guardians appear, the same ones as you used on the pterafolk in Firefinger (I think?). Save to be made on the start of her turn.
Azaka growls, takes a few steps west to get a clear shot, and shoots her longbow shot at the hag. She fires 2 arrows.
Arrow: 15 Damage: 7
Arrow: 23 Damage: 4
(results on next post)
The Nanny is up next. She is surprised, but she still starts her turn in the spirits. She fails her save (OOC roller thread), and the spirits scald her as they flit around her. (can you remind me what they look like? I recall something neat....) (-11)
The Monkeys are up next, and they are surprised. Their little eyes widen as they see the action.
Eku is quite pleased to see her comrades act, and she follows suit. She approaches the hag, says nothing, just looks into her evil eyes and tries to sink her teeth deep into the Nanny.

Round 1: Alton, Phillip, Evo, Azaka, Nanny Pu'pu*, Monkeys*, Eku, Gotur
*surprised rd. 1
Either way is good with me
Alton is also unseen.
Alton uses his action to activate the poison, and you see the thick black poison begin to seep across the blade covering the once shining metal.
Other than that, he will stay hidden, and wait until next turn to make a move.
Alton Thorngage- (Klein’s One Shot String Adventure)
Holden Stonefist-(A Tale of Mercenaries)
Fenrick Wolfsbane- (Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden)
DMing-Ctleath13’s Lost Mines of Phandelver and Ctleath13’s Out of the Abyss
Seeing Alton prepare his dagger, and the others get in position, Phillip takes this as his cue. He licks his arrow tips, and shoots twice (almost faster than the eye can see) at Nanny Pu’pu…
Attack action (shortbow): Attack: 19 Damage: 6 (piercing damage)
Grung poison #1: if it hits CON save (DC12) or take 4 (poison damage), and be ‘poisoned’.
Extra attack (shortbow): Attack: 25 Damage: 6
Grung poison #2: if it hits CON save (DC12) or take 5 (poison damage), and be ‘poisoned’.
If any of his arrows hit, Phillip also marks Nanny Pu’pu as his Favored Foe (concentration for 1 min), and she takes an extra 3 (piercing damage). ((This takes effect only on the first hit per turn)).
GILLAIN OF ATHKATLA - Human Paladin - Into the Mists PHILLIP THE GRUNG - Grung Eldritch Knight - Tomb of Annihilation
ROBWIN WINDROBE - High Elf Wizard - Dragon of Icespire Peak EVE DARKSHORE - Tiefling Warlock - Rime of the Frost Maiden
ASH OF THE FIRE - Tabaxi Rogue - Ghosts of Marshswamp LIA STARBORN - Aasimar Bard - Out of the Abyss
Evo moves to the spot directly east of Pupu and lights up spirit guardians.
Damage (Wis save DC 15 for half): 11

The Nanny is up next. She is surprised, but she still starts her turn in the spirits. She fails her save (OOC roller thread), and the spirits scald her as they flit around her. (can you remind me what they look like? I recall something neat....) (-11)
The Monkeys are up next, and they are surprised. Their little eyes widen as they see the action.
Eku is quite pleased to see her comrades act, and she follows suit. She approaches the hag, says nothing, just looks into her evil eyes and tries to sink her teeth deep into the Nanny.
Bite: 14 Damage: 7

Gotur is up!
