So Telekinetic Feat allows you to use your bonus action to move a creature 5 ft
As a bonus action, you can try to telekinetically shove one creature you can see within 30 feet of you. When you do so, the target must succeed on a Strength saving throw (DC 8 + your proficiency bonus + the ability modifier of the score increased by this feat) or be moved 5 feet toward you or away from you. A creature can willingly fail this save.
Now I've discussed elsewhere using this Feat in a "vertical" sense and it seems people accept this since it only stipulates a creature can move "toward you or away from you". So say you are directly below a spider hanging from a ceiling, you could potentially push the spider towards you 5 feet downward away from the ceiling. Then this got me wondering.
Can you use this feature outside of combat?
If so..., can you use it on an ally to help them climb up a wall? (whether you are directly above or below them)
If so..., if you and your ally both have the Telekinetic Feat, could you both at the same time use this feat on each other to essentially levitate each other up and down if one of you was directly above or below the other? (Shenanigans xP)
This might end up in DM territory but was wondering If there was any RAW talking about this and what is the community consensus?
Yes, yes, and no, in that order. You can't have two PCs telekinetically move each other faster than 1/turn (since it's a bonus action), meaning they'd fall back down before they could possibly move again. If you have a way to stop moving in the air, like a pair of immovable rods, then you can manage something like this.

haha yea I was sorta thinking the same thing. Makes sense if you were to drop. But hey with a few items you might've found a way to infiltrate the castle or bypass the brunt of Strength checks in order to climb a rope.
Probably easier to just climb two rods like a ladder, than figure out the complicated chain of held actions to allow yourself to be pushed up without falling.
I could imagine it being something more similar to maybe PCs using this in conjunction with movement and jump mechanics to get a nice little boost for scaling walls or rooftops.
im thinking one PC could run toward the other who is prepared to lift them up as they jump, kind of like a shield jump if it were a martial character. As the 1st PC runs at the 2nd PC bracing themselves against the wall in a lowered position with their shield facing at an angle, the martial prepares to burst upward to try to help accelerate the jumper as the jumper pushes off the shield. When the jumper is at what seems to be the highest point of the jump, the telekinetic martial, perhaps a psi warrior, Psionically pushes the willing ally 5ft higher.
the game dragons dogma has an example of what I’m picturing this looking like. this is a link showing what it kinda looks like in game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltc6epfaWQw
The last option only works if they can hover, or if there is no gravity, or otherwise can't/won't fall.
So, if they were both underwater? Sure, they could both push/pull. Though, obviously, swimming is faster. But, maybe they're underwater but tied up? The yes, this would be a clever solution to getting out of there even while bound. They'd only be getting 5ft a round, so might not make it out of there in time before drowning. So there's that problem still.
If in outer space or some other gravity-free area, maybe an unusual plane, demiplane or other what-have-you, same thing. They could push/pull each other even if they don't have some form of movement that they could use there.

I'm probably laughing.
It is apparently so hard to program Aberrant Mind and Clockwork Soul spell-swapping into dndbeyond they had to remake the game without it rather than implement it.

Yes, yes, and no, for the same reasons.

I'm going to make this way harder than it needs to be.

If my players were to launch each other 5 feet up a wall, I'd make them roll athletics to find new handholds before falling.
Very true. It is definitely a quick SHOVE and not a gentle push that the feat is causing.
