So I’m new to dnd, as me and my friends are playing. We are going more and more . Fleshing out our characters and world. Seen most of the party has true sight. Is it something they have to cast? Or is it always active. I don’t quite understand how that works.
Edit: i found out it just the description on the senses tab and not actual true sight thanks for the explations
Special senses are Blindsight, Darkvision, Tremorsense, Truesight. Any special sense other than Darkvision usually is really hard for player characters to obtain. Some races always have Darkvision at all times when they aren't suffering from a condition or something like Blinded.
That's just a description of each of the special senses that exist in the game. It doesn't mean that the character has all of them.

Look at what you've done. You spoiled it. You have nobody to blame but yourself. Go sit and think about your actions.
Don't be mean. Rudeness is a vicious cycle, and it has to stop somewhere. Exceptions for things that are funny. Go to the current Competition of the Finest 'Brews! It's a cool place where cool people make cool things.

Do you mean, when you click on the word 'Senses', it opens up another box on the right listing all those sense, and it gives a description of them? Because if so, that does not mean the players have all those sense, rather that's just an information tab that pops up to explain all the senses.
Any senses the players will be listed between the passives and where it says Senses. For example "Darkvision 60 ft." If it really shows them have a True Sight there, then something is likely wrong.

Uhm, unless you very high level no one should have true sight . Easiest way to get it is as a 6th level spell.
Are you sure it's not dark vision. Sometimes people confuse the two.
