Are there limits to the additional step of the wind, or could a monk decided to invest a focus point and trigger the additional effects?
The way I read it, it can be either the free version of Step of the Wind, or the more powerful version you can do for 1 focus point. Those are both "Step of the Wind", so either one qualifies.
Charges in, throws punches and flurry of blows, then focus Step of the Wind, grabs the team mate on frontline who has nearly fallen and pulls them to safety...
Indeed, just felt potential little to much if was orc so could do movement x3 along with an action... go ahead of party grapple the dangerous caster from behind the tanks and pull them back to the team for potentially 1 full round before they can catch up. Even have option for tank team mate to jump with you... drop them at the doorway and let them do what they do best, while everyone else focuses on the main target.

Step of the Wind requires a "willing creature" so that plan likely won't work. Moving your tank along though should work fine.

Moving a creature you have grappled does not require that they be willing. Step of the Wind doesn’t involve other creatures at all; you might be thinking of a different feature.

Maybe @Thezzaruz was referring to this, when you have this option at level 10:
Level 10: Heightened Focus
[...] Step of the Wind. When you expend a Focus Point to use Step of the Wind, you can choose a willing creature within 5 feet of yourself that is Large or smaller. You move the creature with you until the end of your turn. The creature’s movement doesn’t provoke Opportunity Attacks.
I realised second scenario did not work for the focus trigger, Although with grappler feat would still have full movement, size depending, Which I guess the step of the wind doesn't need the boost to work in that example so doesn't matter if could focus or not. Although if used it for the later idea of dropping in a willing creature and removing the target. Guess would work well with ally Assassin's ability Infiltration Expertise. Monk charges in drops off the assassin in disguise and removes the mark.

Hey,
Query regarding Fleet step: When you take a Bonus Action other than Step of the Wind, you can also use Step of the Wind immediately after that Bonus Action.

Running around like wild and doing things all over the place is what 5e Monks are all about.
