Duelist states "When you are wielding a melee weapon in one hand and no other weapons, you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls with that weapon."
Fists are not a "melee weapon" in one hand.
Unarmed strikes are specified here: "Instead of using a weapon to make a melee weapon attack, you can use an unarmed strike: a punch, kick, head-butt, or similar forceful blow (none of which count as weapons). On a hit, an unarmed strike deals bludgeoning damage equal to 1 + your Strength modifier. You are proficient with your unarmed strikes."

And I had a fellow player want to know why my human Fighter took the Tavern Brawler Feat at 1st level, when I rolled a 18 for Strength and put one of his +1's there. He found out when I punched someone for 1d4 damage, as a bonus action but still got that +2 for Dueling style lol.
The Tavern Brawler feat doesn't turn your hands into weapons. An improvised weapon is still an object you must hold. Neither the feat nor class let you punch as a bonus action (the feat can let you grapple as one though) and even without the feat your improvised weapon attack is still 1d4+Str and +2 if it's your only weapon.
The feat doesn't change what a weapon is or is not. It does not change what your punches count as (they still dont count as weapons) and does not change what damage an improvised weapon does and it does not grant any extra attacks. It lets you: add +1 to str or con, make your punches 1d4+Str instead of 1+Str and lets you grapple (not punch) as a bonus action.
Fists/unarmed strikes do not count for Two-Weapon Fighting.

How does the Fighting Style: Duelist and Unarmed Fighting interact? Do the unarmed strikes get +2 damage or ???
You do not.
