The whole idea that spell casters can't target themselves because they can't "see" themselves is ridiculous. Every human being has the biological sense of body awareness . It's called proprioception and is a proven fact. They know exactly where they are in relation to themselves at all times. Sight may be necessary to target someone/something else but should never be required to target one's self, especially if they have the ability to touch themselves (ok, don't get kinky here). Rules are guidelines so players have a basic understanding of the game world, like the laws of physics. But rules should never replace common sense.

If a spell targets a creature of your choice, you can choose yourself, unless the creature must be hostile or specifically a creature other than you. If you are in the area of effect of a spell you cast, you can target yourself.
A typical spell requires the caster to pick one or more targets to be affected by the spell’s magic. A spell’s description says whether the spell targets creatures, objects, or something else.
A Clear Path to the Target. To target something with a spell, a caster must have a clear path to it, so it can’t be behind Total Cover.
Targeting Yourself. If a spell targets a creature of your choice, you can choose yourself unless the creature must be Hostile or specifically a creature other than you.
In 2014 and 2024, you can target yourself with Polymorph.
Since the spell says "a creature that you can see", you can choose yourself, unless you can't see due to being Blinded, Invisible, or for example while in a Heavily Obscured area.

As an extra thing to add, this is from the Dev: You are a creature. Can you see yourself?
