Hello! I am wondering if the "bright light" (pg. 86 PHB) cast by the Sacred Weapon from the Oath of Devotion channel divinity is generally considered sunlight, or some other kind of light? This could have certain effects upon certain monsters or races if it does. I would imagine it to be more like firelight or lightning (in terms of type of light) but I wanted to gain some outside opinions. Thanks!
If something is considered sunlight, it says so. See the Sunbeam spell. This is separate from the definition and function of bright vs. dim light. Of course, a DM could rule that the oath channeling works like daylight - which might make sense for a Paladin of Lathander or Pelor.
Edit: the Daylight spell doesn't provide it either, which is pretty asinine. I guess the intent is that vampire-wrecking sunlight is only the domain of 6th+ level spells.
I'll note here, to avoid confusion, that the Daylight spell does not provide sunlight.
Sunbeam does, it includes "this light is sunlight". Sunburst also does, but it's easier to miss, since it doesn't include the same phrase - it starts with "Brilliant sunlight", though.
You can adjust the flavor of your character's trait as you will - if you want your paladin to shed bright, white light, or flickering, flame-like orange light, or sharp, sparkling blue light, that's up to you (as long as the DM doesn't disagree, for some reason). It just won't affect mechanics in play, unless, again, the DM says otherwise.

If it doesn't say that it's sunlight, it's not sunlight.

And so does Sun Blade.
