Sorry about this constant posting but I am looking for help in another part of my world and campaign. So I checked the DMG and couldn’t find anything on how to create kingdoms and was looking for advice on how to make them.
I guess that depends on the level of detail needed.
As a minimum, some history of the kingdom to provide context for it's current state. Rulers and familiies - perhaps details about the court and powerful families within the kingdom.
Races/population composition, geography, and natural resources will likely shape the history too, as well as cultural aspects combined with religion.
Kingdoms could be hyper centralised aorund a great capital, where all wealth and power is accumulated, or it could be a more distributed realm with a tentative power balance for example.
Another important aspect could be the relations with neighbouring kingdoms and even regions (e.g. the Kingdom may have expanded, but there is still unrest in the newly annexed part of the kingdom and so on)
Deeper down the rabbithole might be designs like heraldy of the kings, maps of cities, important landmarks, etc.
Other things that could be included if you need a lot of detail
Food (culturally, and reflecting the landscape)
Transport (how do people get aorund - by sea/land etc, major roads and trade routes)
Threats (current or recent threats to the stability)
Wealth (relative to other kingdoms and distribution within the kingdom)
Military tradition (standing army, types of warriors and and strategies)
I guess you could go on ad infinitum - but hopefully some of these might be helpful.
