Currently running a campaign and thinking on ideas for one of the boss they could end up fighting. While this character and his group tend to break the 4th wall with little comments, this would be a more direct thing, perhaps like a stage 2 to the boss fight. With that I was wondering what experiences or suggestions you guys way have? We play online and was thinking maybe him joining discord basically and maybe adding a rule limiting game chat to turn orders, or something along those lines
He tells the party they are puppets dancing to the strings of a higher power. He can point of some of the more out of character actions they have done, maybe stuff about part members disappearing and reappearing (cause people can’t make it to session) or ask questions about their backstory. “Can you even remember why you started”. Maybe he addresses the party directly and asks them if they even care who they are controlling, “will their bodies cool before their replacement arrives”. Stuff like that
Really shatter their perception of your world. This bit of dialogue should do the trick and then some:
"This may be hard to believe, but.... you control our lives. We're either side characters in you're oh-so-glorious mission..... or we're just there to die. Doesn't that get under your skin at all? Our pain, for your pleasure?.... Of course it doesn't. You're the main characters in the story! Why would you care about us?!? I mean, we aren't even real people, so it doesn't matter that we die, or that we are under your control! It doesn't matter that we are suffering just so whatever.... thing.... is controlling you can be happy! Is THAT the kind of sick logic you are using to redeem yourselves? Disgusting."
