i played this character in a planescape setting which is why this character is so weird but he was honestly so fun and my favorite character ive put together yet so i figured i would share him with you all. warnings in advance, this character has some mental health struggles and trauma that shapes both how he sees the world and himself so if you're sensitive to topics of mental health, dont continue on and i apologize for any pain the character may bring up for you. be well on your recovery. i wish you the best
Note: This character uses the partnered content book "Valda's Spire of Secrets: Player Pack" for the subclass featured in this character build, though i suppose you could modify it to feature certain other subclasses as well ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject - IX "Nine" is an escaped Hadozee biology experiment in the most horrific way you could imagine. the beings responsible for the experimentation on Nine have heavily modified him but one of the key memories he has regarding his time in captivity was being injected with a sort of modified drider blood/venom serum. his mind was messed with to increase his mental abilities but between the traumas and the tinkering with his brain, his mental state is fractured. he dissociates from this and always refers to himself as "Nine" as when he escaped he had no actual name though he saw the label "Subject - IX" and remembered being called "subject nine" by those altering him so thats the name he goes by having known no other identity. i like to play him somewhere between Gollumn or Igor like in terms of vocal presentation
personality wise, Nine is chaotic neutral. hes known suffering and captivity and hates seeing it in others. you could potentially play him chaotic good, though i kinda like the idea that due to his captivity, he hasnt quite established traditional morals of what constitutes "good" so he has no problem with committing violence if he can justify it internally, and he has no regard for legal consequences whatsoever, and doesnt understand law immediately. other characters will need to explain things like that to him on occasion.
at level his mutations manifest from the drider experiment and he develops the features from the Arachnid Stalker - Rogue subclass from the referenced Valda's book above. this gives him abilities akin to spider-man. though admittedly RAW hadozee already have a climb speed so little changes there, but the subclass does build on the extent to which you can utilize this at higher levels.
I had a similar idea for an amnesiac character ("Subject Fourteen") who goes by, of course, Xiv. Different experiment, this PC would be a Wild Magic sorcerer. It's probably going to sit on a shelf because an amnesiac character would require more work for the GM.
