I made a video of 9 things that I use all the time and really can’t live without in my studio. What are some items you use all the time, and are absolutely essential?
I made these fun little tombstones based on some that I saw in Italy a few months ago. Super fun and easy to make and in the video above I show how to mass produce them so you can have an entire packed cemetery in just a few crafting sessions. Of course, some had to have flickering braziers in them! Made for an awesome cemetery diorama for my Curse of Strahd campaign!
I had a “blast” adding all sorts of details such as LED torches, pigment powders, plants, a blazing firing and destructible top, a bird nest with eggs and more to this tower. It was built out of XPS foam.
I made some foam walls, then made a silicone mold of them to mass produce these buildings VERY quickly! You can put them together to make all sorts of buildings as well. I even have a special plan for them that I’ll show in a future video.
I made this bronze statue with as much realism as I could… all the way down to the crows perched on the antlers and back of the elk! I used foam, clay, a Reaper mini and more to make this statue. The top is removable so you can change out the feel of the statue depending on the setting of your game!
Adventure into the land of the Fey! Stepping outside your comfort zone from time to time can yield some fun results and always tends to be a learning experience. Hot pink and frosty blue colors made up this scatter terrain that I sculpted for some playful Feywild Scatter Terrain.
I created a chasm obstacle for Dungeons and Dragons with an obscured bottom filled with smoke. I used some plastic cave walls to add some visual pop to the top of the walls. Something that would have been hard to achieve with just foam. Using a hotwire knife I was able to blend the foam right into the plastic walls for an almost seamless transition.
I made these green gas plumes of smoke that light up simply by placing them anywhere on your table that you can hide a magnet. You can also turn them on by placing a magnet on the plume then just put it on the board. There’s something about dropping a craft on the table and having it turn on with a brilliant light that captivates the player… at least my friends are mesmerized by it… they’re like a bunch of mosquitoes haha.
This is one of my favorite crafts to date. I made this Hag’s Hut out of foam and clay that will transform into something else in next week’s video! Packed with tons of detail and a playable interior! Wait until you see the LED’s in this craft as well!
I love all things modular. The ability to get the most out of your TIME and crafts. This week I added some modular creeping legs to my Hag’s Hut from last week to turn it into Baba Lysaga’s Hut from Curse of Strahd! The craft is made mostly out of foam and wood. Tons of great basing techniques in this video!
I’ve completely upgraded my normal swamp tiles to these more dynamic looking pieces that are perfect for the Drowned City of Berez in Curse of Strahd! I can’t wait to bust this out next week in our next session. Let me know what you think.
As part of my massive 3 foot by 6 foot diorama of my Airship being attacked by fire and ice dragons I made these floating islands to add some obstacles for my ship to avoid… like it’s not in enough trouble already haha. These also double as modular mountains as well and are removable from their flight pegs and the tops come off as well! Next week is my big reveal on YouTube of the diorama I made at the request of Wyrmwood Gaming! I’ll be taking this down to their location in MA in a few weeks where it will be shown off in one of their upcoming Wyrm Lyfe episodes!
This diorama took over 2 months of planning and construction. I teamed up with Dafydd of Terrain Tronics and Sam Lenz on this one. Dafydd helped with the fire/lighting effects and Sam Lenz painted the dragons. The diorama was made to fit inside a Wyrmwood Modular Gaming Table and is 3’ x 6’ in size. With over 64 linear feet of LEDs for the Dragon Breath Fire and lightning effects I had to use 7 USB power banks and a handful of AA batteries. Mounting the fully painted dragons (one to a ½” acrylic rod, and the other to a mountain peak I made last year on my YouTube channel) was a nerve-wracking task but worked out perfectly. Check out how I pulled it all together today on my YouTube channel. Video link above.
These crates and ladders are made from 2 different types of real wood for specific reasons. Texture and strength. Check out my short video to see how to make them and why I did what I did.
I’m diving into the world of Mordheim and this is my first creation in collaboration with Shiftinglands and Terrain Tronics. 8 Flickering torches, a green LED for when Wyrdstone is present, a weathervane that spins at random, new painting techniques, new materials used and more. Check it out and follow me on my journey into the City of the Damned! This is perfect for The Curse of Strahd as well!
