My son and I use a pair of lizardfolk. One is a barbarian with Ancestral Guardian and the other is a Kensei Monk. The barbarians target has disadvantage to attack anything but the barbarian, and of course while ranging has typically twice the effective health. That allows the Kensei with a battle axe and flurry to do a silly amount of damage (1d10+4, twice and 1d6+4 twice again at the current level). Plus the barbarian has spirit shield to help soak damage that other folks take. Ki can be spent on stuns, or adding more dice to the damage as needed.
Even though as soon as it is the target's turn, they can maneuver around or go through the wall, the Rogue still gets at least one shot in with advantage.
Why this is so useful when possible:
It allows the Rogue to use their cunning action for something besides hiding for that advantage on their attack. Also, hiding doesn't always work.
The Rogue would still have to Hide in that scenario to try to peek out and shoot without being noticed.

They don't have to hide for advantage. They'd still have to hide to not be noticed, sure, but they can have advantage without hiding. That was the point I was trying to make.
If they peek out from behind the illusory wall without hiding, they're no longer an unseen attacker; the enemy's going to see them. They need to hide if they plan on sniping from behind cover without being seen.

Maybe my original post was unclear. The wall or brick is placed directly in front of the enemy's eyes, not in front of the rogue. That way, the rogue can still see the enemy (since they are far away), just not the enemy's eyes. The enemy, however, has an opaque object directly in front of their face, so they can't see the rogue. Does this make more sense?

You could argue that the enemy has partial cover if the rogue does not know that the "wall" is an illusion, but I'm not sure about that.
One time I had the idea to try to get another player to do a character combo with me. Two muscular shirtless multiclass barbarian/fighter with protection fighting style and with a big and around shield each. Spears/pikes as weapons. They would always stand next to each other in battles, and if they get a chance, they're obligated to kick every enemy down a hole while yelling "THIS. IS. SPARTA!"
While fighting 4 hill giants my druid casted plant growth around the giants, I casted spike growth around 2 of them and our cleric casted call lightning (that pushes large creatures around) all through the spikes. We killed one in this fashion and brought the other down to minimal health quickly as well. Then the druid cast stinking cloud over the spike growth to impose disadvantage on the two giants. The rest of the party just focused on the other two. We made quick work of the hill giants this way.
One of my characters is a Noblewoman Sorcerer whose personal maid / bodyguard is a Monk. The two of them can go weaponless and armourless into any situation and still kick ass. Particularly useful in high society parties that end up going south.
Lately I've been wanting to try a couple of stone sorcerers, can twin conc buffs on each other and use stone aegis on each other. Torn between multiclassing rogue for the chance to sneak attack on the reaction attack or swords bard for more general melee capability.
If bard tempted to go unarmed for a wrestling tag team with enlarge and haste cast on each other, if so tempted to double up on the UA as minotaur for the improved unarmed strike and to basically play them as "Brothers" from FF8.
I'm playing CoS right now, and the synergy with one of the other characters is ridiculous at times. I'm playing an Aarakocra Drunken Master Monk, and a friend is playing a Kobold Draconic Bloodline Sorcerer.
Whenever we're in combat, I just carry her around while I buzz through the enemy ranks, and she blasts whatever she wants. Whenever I use flurry of blows, I have auto-disengage, and she never provokes AoOs since she isn't using her own movement.

The Druid and Barbarian in the group I DM for have developed some interesting synergy.
The druid has gone Circle of the Moon for the WIld Shape and the Barbarian has gone Totem Warrior. Synergy like:
The Barbarian can use speak with animals to communicate with the druid whilst she's in animal form and Beast Sense to experience the senses of the druid while scouting.
The druid wildshaped into a Warhorse, with the Barbarian riding.
That last one led to a cool situation where the Barbarian needed to meet with some bad guys, who demanded that they come alone and unarmed. The druid took the Barbarian's 2-handed Maul and then wildshaped into the horse (equipment transforms with them). When the Barbarian was inevitably betrayed by the bad guys, the druid jumps over the wall and resumes humanoid shape, handing the maul to the Barbarian. Carnage ensued.
I support this one. Ghostwise Halfling (telepathy) Moon Druid with Saddle of the Cavalier + Mounted Combatant whatever melee class you want leads to some funny stuff. Plus if you're really cheeky, you can sell a "thoroughbred horse" for some gold and when everyone goes away druid reverts and you split the takings. lol
A centaur and either a cavalier fighter or someone mounted combatant feat. You lose a bit on the feat but is you essentially give the centaur the rogue feature evasion.
I'd say bard can do buff's healing and a bit of fighting, while a monk goes in with strong AC, punches, and depending on his subclass can do more damage or something like that.
They could both play instruments with each other to.
Pair a halfing Moon Druid with a Rogue/Drunken Master Monk. The Druid when shaped in a Dire Wolf can trip attack for the Monk, who uses Stunning Strike. Druid can cast Earth Tremor, creating multiple targets for the Monk to attack. If the Druid runs out of Wildshapes, the Monk can pick up the small caster and use those free disengages to get out of there.
I'm looking for a pair of builds which have good synergy. These will not be the only two party members, so they don't need to cover all weaknesses, they just need to be interacting with each other. The only example I've been able to think of so far is a Warlock hexing the target for STR or DEX (whichever's higher) to help a Grappler ally.
Does anyone have any other ideas?

Paladin (str, melee, heal) + Bard (dex, magic, range) is a nice 2 players combo

My favorite, have a shadow sorcerer cast darkness (the sorcerer can see through this darkness if casted with their sorc points)
Have a devil's sight warlock. Both can shoot through the darkness without hindrance.
Have a blind sense melee (lv14 rogue or devil's sight hexblade) in the midst of it to really mess things up
