I'm running my first character, a trickster spell casting cleric in a party of three. Needed a bit more damage output so took my second level in druid (shillelagh has been a huge help and I have access to a LOT of spells). Should I now commit to druid to get wild shape and continue on or is cleric upgrades the way to go? Which will I loose out on the most?
What is your current build? Most classes get a big jump in power at 5th level so you want to get to 5th level druid or 5th level cleric as quickly as possible. Because 5-druid or 5- cleric is going to be noticeably better than 2-druid + 3 cleric or 3-druid + 2 cleric.
I'm guessing you are the only healer in the party since there are only three of you, so you really shouldn't be getting into melee with enemies because if you go down it is really hard for the other players to heal you. If you want to be a sustained damage dealer, then the quickest way to get there is Thorn Whip + Moonbeam at druid level 3, unless you go Moon Druid then at 3rd level you get Bear form which is very powerful at level 3&4. However, at 5th level cleric gets Spirit Guardians which is a MASSIVE boost to damage, and druid doesn't catch up with their own equivalent spell until level 7.
Don't mess up your spell progression and feats. Personally, i love stars druids, but it seems like you're more focused on trickery cleric, so just stick with that.
So I am at level 2, I'm a gnome (level 1 trickery cleric) (level 1 druid) my primal order is magician. And I'm loving my spell casting so I really enjoyed getting the druid spell list. I had an idea to continue to level up in druid and take the circle of the land subclass at level 4 (level 3 druid). Taking the arid land will give me that sweet sweet fire. At level 5 I'll get my fireball. I then also have my wildshape as a health buff or I can use land's aid instead for more healing.
Haven't played any of this so tell me if it's not going to work like I'm thinking
Most multiclass builds of this nature tend you use the Life Cleric for their healing potential with Goodberry. It’s still not a bad multiclass for the armor of the cleric combined with the druid. By that logic I would say go Druid beyond this point in order to not mess with your progression of spells any further. Again, not that a dip or start in Cleric is bad; you just don’t want to water down your main class or loose out on your level 19 epic boon/feat (should you be allowed or even make it that far.)

You won't get fireball until 6th character level with this build - 5 Druid and 1 Cleric. I'd recommend picking the class that you're more excited about and sticking with it.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
